Other than the debate about weather these type of carriers, known as “crotch danglers”, are dangerous or not, having used one myself, I can attest to how uncomfortable these carriers are for mom & baby when used for more than a few minutes at a time. A moby (stretchy wrap,) a soft structured carrier (Ergo, tula, babyhawk,) or a non stretchy wrap will not only be more comfortable for the wearer & child, but the soft structured carrier & non stretchy wrap can be used for longer than the first few months to a year or around 20 pounds when the carrier shown above becomes increasingly uncomfortable for all. This is like relaxing in a harness used for rock climbing verses a hammock type seat/ swing position used in more supportive carriers. I’m glad I met other moms that let me try their ergonomic carrier before my child got bigger & we lost out on the joys of toddler (and now tandem) babywearing due to pain from an ill designed carrier.
