How to Use Add-On Items to Save with Amazon (Save on their Baby Nursery Event!)

Have you checked out the Amazon Baby Event yet? I posted about this event HERE if you want more details, but the bottom line is that you can score a $50 credit wyb $250 worth of merchandise from this Baby Nursery Event. That’s pretty sweet, especially if you have a big ticket item.

But even if you don’t, you can save big by looking for Add On items.  What are Add On items?  Here’s a screenshot directly from Amazon that helps explain:

So essentially what that means is that whenever you see that little “Add-on item” blue icon, you can purchase that item (usually discounted) with FREE 2-day shipping, so long as you order $35 or more of items shipped by Amazon. **NOTE** The above screenshot says $25, but that is incorrect!  I just verified with Amazon’s Customer Service and they are looking into making the change. 🙂 Those items will have the PRIME button with the checkmark next to the price; they also explicitly indicate whether or not they’re sold and shipped by Amazon, as indicated by this screenshot:

So for instance, here is an example of how you can take advantage of Add-on pricing and shipping in this Baby Nursery Event.

Buy one Change Away for $7.95 (Reg $9.84). This is  Prime Product, so it counts towards your $35.

• Total Due: $7.95

Buy one Summer Infant Contoured Changing Pad for $17.38 (Reg $28.95). This is a Prime Product, so it counts towards your $35. This is the #1 selling item, by the way, in the Changing Table Pads & Covers section.

• Total Due: $7.95 + $17.38 = $25.33.

Buy one Summer Infant Character Change Pad Cover for $11.47 (Reg $20.99).  This is a Prime Product so it counts towards your $35.

• Total Due: $7.95 + $17.38 + $11.47 = $36.80.  You have now reached your $35 threshold, which means you can add add-on items and they will ship with 2-day free shipping.

Buy one Summer Infant SwaddleMe Micro Fleece for $5.75 (Reg $11.99) + FREE 2-day shipping as an Add-on item.

• Total Due: $7.95 + $17.38 + $11.47 + $5.75 = $42.55.

Buy one NoJo by Jill McDonald Window Valance for $3.60 (Reg $22.99) + FREE 2-day shipping as an Add-on item.

• Total Due: $7.95 + $17.38 + $11.47 + $5.75 + $3.60 = $46.15

Now I could go on like this until I hit my $250 as part of the Baby Nursery Event and get another $50 back, but I will let you score your own deals. 🙂

In total though, by shopping the sales, add-on items, and scoring the free shipping, I only paid $46.15 for the above items, which retail for $94.76, which means I saved over 50%!

Hopefully this gives you some good ideas on how you can use Add-on items to your advantage when your shopping on Amazon, even if it isn’t on Baby items! 🙂
