I have been working behind the scenes on a really awesome deal.. I am not posting about the “deal” yet because it isn’t official and I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. BUT, I do have a few question for all of you and I would GREATLY appreciate your feedback!
1) What have you been spending per pound on boneless, skinless, chicken breasts the past 6 months?
2) What is the stockpile price that you are willing to pay on chicken breasts? I am asking here what price would you be willing to pay on 20lbs+ of boneless chicken breasts..
3) Where do you buy your chicken breasts?
And, I know many of you probably want to know my answers.. The past 4-6 months I have been living off of my frozen chicken stockpile where I spent $1.99/lb on the chicken. I will stock up (i.e. buy 20 lbs or more) on chicken that is $1.99/lb or less. I buy my chicken at Publix and sometimes Sweetbay depending on who has the better sale…
Thanks in advance for your help with these questions!
1. $1.49-$1.79
2. $30 for 20 lbs
3. Albertsons, in fact it is on sale until next Tuesday for $1.49 a lb!
With in the pst 2 weeks Walmart had chicken breast on sale for $1.78 per pound. I bought 15 pounds of it. $1.99 or less is what I look for.
1. and 3. $1.99 – $2.59/lb– I try to stock up on my meat at Sam’s Club because most of the time they are the cheapest I can get. I just bring home the large portions and split them up into freezer bags.
2. Sam’s Club currently has boneless skinless chicken breast going for $1.99/lb which I also think is a stockpile price. But you have to be a member and you have to buy in semi-large quantities. Yesterday I splurged on the chicken breast tenderloins @ $2.19/lb to make for some easy quick finger food meals my mom can take to school. 🙂
1.49-1.79
No more than $1.79 per pound
Albertsons in Largo, FL
Where is the Albertson’s still in Largo? All the ones near me became Publix.
Largo Mall(on ulmerton) has an Albertsons.
Albertson’s in Largo Mall- Ulmerton Road and Seminole Blvd
I am with Carrie! Mine is $1.79 or less for chicken breasts. I have found Albertsons to have the best meat deals around. In fact this week I am stocking up as they are $1.49lb at Albertsons, and I have a -$5/$50 Q in my Albertsons ad.
After the -$5/$50 Q for 34lbs makes it only $1.34lb.
Other great reason about Albertsons is that they always have in ad Qs for B1G2 Free on meat deals. It’s amazing how much I can stock up on and save.
I just paid 1.59 a pound at a local independant store.I bought 20 pounds and split it up in freezer bags
2.99 to 3.99 per pound, I don’t usually buy the frozen bags, just from the meat dept.
I like to always buy when it’s the 2.99 per pound sale. I try to make sure i buy enough to last the 6 weeks between sales.
Publix in South Florida
1 &2. I have been spending between 1.99-2.99 a lb, but I try to really stockpile when it is 1.99.
3. Mainly I shop at Publix, though since Publix has not had a good chicken sale lately I have been to Sweetbay.
I think I get better deals with meat at Winndixxie sometimes pay $3 per pack of chicken breast when they are B1G1 Free I regret going to Publix I think their meat prices are horrible. Being that I cook meat everyday.
Albertson’s is were we have been getting our for 1.49
we love it!!!
I bought 20lbs the last time Publix had it for $1.99…however, with a family of five, it didn’t last as long as I’d hoped!! (do I dare go in there and buy more than that???)
Since then (as I’ve been patiently waiting for that pricing to surface again), I, too, have been going to Sam’s Club, and finding it to be in the $2.20/lb range.
No Alberton’s here in the New Port Richey area, right??
$1.99/lb is about as low is gets around here.
I did get some for $1.77/lb at Wal-Mart the other day. I normally get mine at Food Giant or Winn Dixie since they seem to put it on sale more often.
At Wal-Mart I buy a whole Purdue fryer – $0.88/lb. I buy a bunch of them and then cut up my own chickens. The chicken breast tastes fresher than when you buy separate pieces, not to mention how economical it is. I then also have wings, thighs and legs. Plus I use the carcass for homemade chicken noodle soup. For 20 pounds, I wouldn’t pay more than $20.
I’ve been paying between 2.49 and 3.49 a lb. I would definitely buy 20 lbs of fresh (not bagged) at 1.99 a lb.
I buy chicken when it’s $1.99 or less. Can’t wait to hear your surprise! 🙂
oops forgot the other part… I dont live in the great state of FL anymore, so I buy chicken when it’s on sale at Giant, Shoppers, or Food Lion… usually Giant. 🙂 Oh how I miss Publix…. !!! 🙂
We always buy Chicken when it is 1.99 a pound. Our Publix has not run this price in a while but our Sweetbay has, thank goodness!
$1.99/Lb or less!
I just bought some at Kroger this week. There is a store called H Mart here(it’s an asian grocery) who sometimes puts it on sale for $1.49/Lb!! I LOVE to catch it when it’s that price, but they do not do sale flyers! So, I just have to cross my fingers when I go there.
I buy the boneless, skinless chicken breasts at $1.99 lb–in the last few months, at Sweet Bay before that sometimes in Publix but I haven’t seen the 1.99 at Publix lately. Since it’s just my husband and I, 8 to 10 lbs last us until the next $1.99 sale. Although I am a member of Sam’s Club, I don’t usually buy chicken there.
Anybody know where the closest Albertsons to New Port Richey is?
$1.99 @ Sweetbay. Last month when they had their #1.99 though it was the week after their Split breasts had been on sale. I got the split breasts instead because they had too many and I paid something around 40-50 cents per pound for them. I have found this to be the case MANY times at Sweet Bay. I buy all of our meats from them, always the best prices in town.
1.77/lb or less. Usually at Food World.
I can buy boneless, skinless breasts by the case at Sams for $1.65 lb. A case usually runs around $50. That’s about 30 lbs. of chicken. We have a large family and a large freezer. For those who don’t have the space to stockpile that much at one time, I know of families who go in together on a case and then split it to get the better price. If I purchase it there by the package, the price runs about $1.97 lb. That is the regular price all the time, not on “sale”.
I’ve been paying around 1.99 for boneless. I purchased some split breast a while back for a little less and deboned them myself. So anything under $35 for 20 lbs would be great.
I do not buy frozen. No Albertsons in town any more, Publix bought them all up. I miss thier cheap BSCB. I dont like Walmarts brand forget the name.
1) 1.99 at Winn Dixie ([email protected]/lb.) Sanderson Brand
2) <1.79 lb.
3) WD when its on sale above. Sometimes Sam's Club they carry Tyson brand if I recall correctly.
I'd also like to note that I feel the brand of chicken is a major factor. They are not all equal IMO.
I pay about the same as all these ladies do – less than $2 per pound. I noticed Wal-Mart had theirs for $1.79/lb BUT on the package they said that 15% was injected fluids. That means (if my math is correct) you’re paying $2.10/lb!!!
I buy our chicken at the commissary on Patrick AFB…it’s regularly priced at $1.99/lb.
totally agree with mytah… brands do taste different. My DH doesn’t like anything but Publix brand chicken, where as i will do tyson or purdue as well. I don’t like albertsons or sams club brand..so we don’t get to take advantage of too many deals. I will stock pile at 1.99 or 2.49 when i see it though.
i buy the sams club brand of boneless skinless all natural – it’s 10.98 for 6 ls – wich comes out to 1.83 / lb…usually that’s cheaper than anywhere else but if it 1.49 @ albertsons this week imight have to take a little trip!
