With winter almost over, are you starting to grill out more and more? Being fortunate enough to live in Florida, I enjoy grilling in mild weather year-round. But I can also remember grilling year-round when we lived in a suburb of Chicago. We love grilling out – even when the weather was frigid cold in Illinois. One of our favorite foods to grill are Johnsonville Brats and Sausage.
Johnsonville’s Spark the Season is a campaign that encourages people to come out of the “dark period” of winter by grilling. Grilling signifies a new weather beginning.
Johnsonville partnered with the Special Olympics in sponsoring the 2017 Chicago Polar Plunge. Crazy Adventurous participants ran and plunged themselves into the icy waters of Lake Michigan. This plunge benefited the Special Olympics Chicago which was the perfect incentive for the participants to jump right now. Then, to warm up, they enjoyed freshly grilled, piping hot Johnsonville brats fresh off the burners of the Big Taste Grill.
Looking at the picture above, all of the smiling faces makes me think plunging into the freezing water was actually TONS of fun! 🙂
The Big Taste Grill is a 20-foot tall, 65-foot long grill, which cooks 2,500 brats an hour or 750 bratwurst at a time on its 40 square feet of grilling surface. The grill was manned by a Chicago Bears favorite, former linebacker Brian Urlacher.
