I had a fun but yet interesting trip at Publix yesterday. I am not finding this week’s Publix sale to be extraordinary but I had some coupons that scored me good deals and I was able to buy some veggies which I am in desperate need of. (I also need squash and broccoli but I wasn’t thrilled with Publix’s prices this week.) It was fun in the sense that I scored free Dove deororant, free Carefree pantiliners, free Olay Regenerist and free Hidden Valley dressing. I also bought a ton of Ziploc Bags but they are not pictured. My trip, however, was an interesting trip because first of all, I read a coupon incorrectly. This very seldom happens, but it does happen. So, my encouragement to you is to read each coupon and make sure you are buying the correct item with the coupon! The second reason this trip was interesting is because I had THE WORST experience with my cashier. WORST. He missed scanning $5.00 in Publix store coupons and $3.50 in manufacturer coupons – this is a total of EIGHT COUPONS he missed. I brought my receipt back to customer service and I am STILL waiting on Publix to fix the issue! The pricing below is based on the assumption that Publix fixes their errors. I spent $14.17 (including tax) on $169.87 worth of groceries! 🙂
The items I purchased today coincide with this week’s Publix Weekly ad. To see this week’s ad & coupon matchups, go HERE.

Where is your $5 off of $50 from the Publix BOGO flyer?? Mine comes in the mail on Wed or Thurs!I am so excited to use 3 of these types this week for a total of $20 off! My husband is in disbelief!
Liza says
Vicki – I didn’t get the $5/$50 Publix coupon 🙁 Where I live, we do not receive Publix mailers 🙁

This happened with me once with the coupons. I explained it to my customer service lady and they refunded the amount I explained without a problem! It was $11 worth of coupons, and since the cashier had taken them but didn’t apply them, I didn’t have anything to prove it!

Darn! I was at 46% off 2 weeks ago and then last weekend we decided to have friends over for a cookout, so I didn’t make my goal of over 50%…..hoping to be over 50% this weekend!

I had that happen once at my Publix and thankfully because of the way that I prepare for my shopping trips, I was saved and I got my cash back immediately. When I make my shopping list I write the item and quantity that I plan to buy, then next to it I write every coupon that I have for the ‘deal’ and where I got it from. I sat there with the Store Manager and went through my list and the grocery receipt and he marked off each coupon as we went along and found that I had $4.50 in missed coupons. I am very greatful for that store manager and, as a result, I’ve become loyal to his store because he treats his customers very well. He values the ‘couponers’ and finds it just as fun and interesting as we do when we check out!!
gery says
Liza I am so sorry you had a bad time shopping.
Lisa says
Liza,
I’ve found that if I’m going to coupon, I’m going to have bad deals every once in a while. I really don’t “get” the cashiers not knowing policies and not scanning the coupons…it’s crazy sometimes. I had a bad experience yesterday at Walgreens…but all is good because I had a good one today. Anyhow, I am so thankful for your photo show and tells because I always see something that I missed and can’t wait to go get. This week it’s the Olay deals. Thanks for all of your hard work.

I think that I heard on the radio this morning that the Romaine Lettuce was found to have salmonella??? Not sure but you might want to check it out!!

I always count exactly how many coupons i have before I give them to cashier. I even write it on my shopping list in case i get sidetracked. If i give them 20 coupons I make sure as they are scanning them, that 20 coupons come off. I actually count the beeps and look at the screen. sometimes the printed coupons don’t scan and they bunch them into one. (4-1.00 coupons=1- 4.00 coupon)I always double check BEFORE i walk away from the line.
