I had a great day at Publix today! I managed to save 94.2% AND I bought a ton of produce and was able to get four cartons of milk for cheap. (Make sure you read my recent post HERE to get the milk for FREE – bummer that I came across the $2/1 printable after I finished my shopping trip ;)) I really needed nothing other than milk and produce today so I think I did pretty good. I am super excited about the prices on produce right now. Now is the time to buy fresh fruits and veggies! 🙂 I also splurged and bought Perdue Baked Chicken Tenderloins that are on sale B1G1. I didn’t have coupons for these items so it felt a bit weird to make sure a pricey purchase without coupons, but you know what, it’s okay! That’s why we use coupons. We use coupons to save money and with our savings splurge every once in a while! 🙂
There was a pricing issue with the Combat. The sign on the shelf showed the Combat to be $4.69 each. However, when they rang up, they rang up as $8.39 each. I didn’t realize the error until I had walked my cart to the car. So, I went back to customer service and they ended up giving me $16.90 in cash. Looking back, I’m not quite sure how they came up with that dollar amount.. I told them I had used $5.00 in coupons on each box, but they insisted I take the $16.90. So, I made some extra money on the deal.

Liza, you are a wizard! How long do your shopping trips take? It would take me 6 hours to keep everything straight and work my way into a deal like that!
Liza says
I don’t know if I’m a wizard necessarily 😉 The shopping trips are a breeze – takes me about 20 minutes in the store. It is the prep work that takes time.. it takes about an hour to get the coupons and deals together. Trust me though, if I can do this, then anyone can do it!

How do you get the Winn Dixie coupons?
Andrea says
Where do you get the Winn Dixie coupons? (10 off of $50) I signed up for the rewards card and have not received anything?
Monica Vila says
Me too! I signed for all things Winn Dixie offered and have yet to receive anything. 🙁

I didn’t get the Winn Dixie coupon, but I did get Super Target’s “4th of July, 2010 COUPONS” booklet with a $5 off $50 or more grocery purchase. I hope to try it at Publix, since my Publix accepts Target coupons.

The “Publix Promise” is that if an item, excluding alchohol and tobacco, rings up for more than the advertised price, you get one free and and rest at the correct price. (I’ve worked for Publix for too long. I can quote some of these policies in my sleep. lol) Your coupons would not have affected the price they took off since they take off the price of the item, not what you paid.
The Combat rang up at $8.39, but should have bee $4.69.
8.39-4.69= 3.70 times 2= 7.40
7.40 + 8.39 (the free one)= 15.79
I imagine they gave you some extra to cover any tax.
Liza says
Elizabeth!! Thank you so much! I knew they gave me the cost for a free Combat but I couldn’t figure out where the rest of the money came from. You have made my day with your info! Seriously, I was doing all of these mathematical equations in my head trying to figure out how they came up with the dollar amount! Thank you for the info!

Dont forget the fruit2o waters 6 pack thats b1g1 there is a $.55 coupon which makes a great deal at .95. My son takes these to summer camp and loves them so I try to stock up whenever I can.
Mary says
Also-check this Sundays paper for a MIR on Smart Balance (and keep your receipt!)
Liza says
Thanks Mary. I haven’t posted about this yet because (from what I have heard) it is not valid in all states Florida being one of them..

For everyone that has asked and emailed me today, I updated today’s Photo Show and Tell post to include the link to a prior post I made explaining how I receive the Winn Dixie coupons. Winn Dixie has mailed me a sheet of weekly coupons for the past two months. I know that not every one of you who have signed up have received them. I do not know why they have been so generous with me. Read my post and sign up if you haven’t yet.
