I will be the first to tell you that I haven’t traditionally cared about anti-virus protection on my computer. I’ve lived by the motto, “If it’s cheap or free, then it’s for me!” Well, that might be great in the couponing world, but not when it comes to our computers! Nowadays we depend on computers for just about everything – banking online, paying bills, buying gifts, printing coupons – and the list goes on and on. When my website goes down for even just a couple of minutes I almost have a panic attack! And if you’ve ever downloaded a virus, you know exactly how panicky that can be, which is why we now pay for anti-virus software instead of getting the cheapo-freebies you find on the Internet (unless of course you have a code from AddictedtoSaving.com or something). 😉
If you’ve ever been a victim of a bad virus, or your renewal just expired with your current software, or maybe you have a new back-to-school computer for your child that you need to protect, then you are in luck. Well, at least one of you is! VIPRE Antivirus software is giving away one year-long download of their VIPRE Antivirus software. PC Magazine just rated VIPRE as one of the top Antivirus Softwares on the market, beating out most of their competitors. Plus, it doesn’t slow down your computer (like some do) and best of all, you have have FREE technical support (U.S.-based) in case you have any problems. Since a lot of us don’t know much about the technical side of computers, I was very happy to see that they have customer support here in the United States. They do offer a 30-day money-back guarantee so if you don’t win this giveaway, you can always check them out at their website: http://www.vipreantivirus.com/ .
HOW TO ENTER
1) There is only one possible entry, which is simple. Please leave a post describing one of the following:
- Your worst virus download story ever; OR
- Why you need free-antivirus protection.
I will stop taking entries for this giveaway on Wednesday, September 7, at 8 p.m. I will choose a winner simply based on the entry that makes me laugh, cry, or feel sorry for the most! Good luck everyone!

This Spring a virus completely ruined our laptop. TOtally! WE took it in for a virus sweep, and the tech said the hardrive was totally destroyed. This has happened on at least two computers so far, and I really don’t know why, except that we were either using a downloaded (but clean) antivirus software, or one of the leading brands. (I wonder if the two big brands create viruses to attack each other…. ) I am all for a non-name brand virus software!

Last week my laptop got a virus, the day after, it made my hard drive crash 🙁 so now I am stuck on my dinosaur of a desktop until my laptop is repaired, which will return to me with no type of antivirus on it. I am a single mom and my second grader uses the computer for some of her extra credit with her math and spelling.

I definetly need an antivirus protection for my computer because. My lap top has always given me problems when it comes to viruses just with a simple click of a “weird” website and that I’ve had my lap top for over 5 1/2 yrs only because I can’t afford a new fancy one. It does the simple things I need to get done like doing research for school or typing papers. I’d like to hold on to my lap top for as long as I can and when I can afford to fix the things that’s wrong with it, an antivirus protection software would put my mind at a comfort level to know my computer will be protected and safe and this task would be off of my “to list for my lap top” atleast for a year.

I am on a new laptop and I have run out of the free 30 day from Norton. My boyfriend bought me this laptop to use to study. I am going to take my certification exam early 2012 in Medical Coding/billing. I would like to keep this laptop as long as I can as my home computer just died and now this is what I am using for everything, but it is to mainly to be used for school and studying.

When I was in college, we were on an open connection for our internet. Somehow, the stupid people who lived in the dorm room above me hacked into my computer and I ended up with a bunch of “inappropriate” viruses on my computer, yes….that kind. I ended up having to be without a computer for six months because it was so badly infected that they could not get the junk off it without going through the entire system. It was the most horrible thing ever because my roommate who is a very conservative person asked to borrow my printer and when she went to open the internet, bad things came up! :-X

I received a virus several months ago and I’m not even sure where it came from. I would love to try a new anti-virus since our subscription is about to expire.

Oh what a perfect giveaway! I would love to win this for my son. He just got a new computer to take to college with him and it did not come with Windows or virus protection. We had to buy windows since he would need word, publisher and excel for school work but we did not buy virus protection yet. We had 2 unexpected money issues arise – Florida increased tuition by 15% in July and my son has been unable to secure a transfer to a Publix near his college. So this would be great for him because I would hate for anything to happen to his new computer.

I just lost all my info including appointments, birthdays, you name it I lost it in a catastrophic crash I had to splash out on a new laptop and now I have no spyware or anti virus program and I really want to get it right this time

The worst was when all I did was to sign on to the internet and something started to download and before I could do anything my computer was not working. After, trying different things I had to get another computer and for that it took so long to save enough money to buy it.

You would think that after getting virus’s on my desktop that rendered it practically unuseable that I would learn to buy virus protection for my new laptop but NOOOOOOO…Im to cheap to buy any (they are all really expensive) I have downloaded some free protection but it doesnt do very well as I still get popups(urgh)and with an 8 yr old wanting to play games all the time I really need some virus protection, if I win it I promise to give my desktop to a needy family after I get it fixed, Ive been holding onto it for that just in case moment…but if I know Im protected I wont need it anymore…Thanks for the chance!
