I have bad news regarding Weekly Cinema. If you are like me, you probably purchased the Weekly Cinema Groupon deal that was available numerous times the past few months. Well, I went onto Weekly Cinema’s website and was met with this message:
“We regret to inform you that the Weekly Cinema program is being discontinued and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working with our deal site partners to achieve a refund for the unused movie tickets and promo codes in your Weekly Cinema account in an amount not to exceed the price you paid for each of the unused movie ticket coupons.
A Hotline phone number has been setup to provide you with updates on the situation. You may reach us at 1-866-241-0510 from 10am – 5pm Pacific Time. You may also provide your Weekly Cinema email in the box below if you would like us to email you when an update is available. Otherwise, check the site later today for further updates.”
It is not uncommon for new companies to fail… That said, I feel horrible about this. I know that many of you have purchased this deal – as have I. And, I even gave the Groupon away to family and friends as gifts so now I have to contact them and tell them they can’t use the certificates. If you purchased the Weekly Cinema Groupon deal you can contact Groupon via email HERE. I also have the phone numbers for two “Deals” websites that I’ve posted about. Groupon (877) 788-7858 or Living Social (877) 521-4191. If you purchased from Groupon or Living Social I recommend you contac the company via phone to get reimbursed.. I am about to call and I will keep you posted on what happens. I am very sorry for all of the confusion and for the loss of money you all may experience because of this. I do my best to scrutinize each and every deal and had I known this company would shut down, I would never have posted about them in the first place.
Not your fault.
A local company for which I had purchased a Groupon went out of business. Groupon notified me of their shut down and promptly issued a refund.
I understand that you feel bad, but it’s not your fault. I bought this too (it really was too good to pass up), but that’s ok, I’ll get the money back and use it toward some other fabulous deal. You just keep alerting us to them – you are not responsible if they fall through.
FYI, I just checked my bank account and my Groupon purchase of the Weekly Cinema tickets has been refunded. I had already used all but 1 ticket and I had not even asked for a refund. I recieved $25.
