Do you have a glass top stove? Do you like it? I love the way it looks. And I like the way it cooks (we don’t have gas as an option at this house). However, I hate how difficult it is to keep it clean. And I hate how easy it is to scratch. We bought our glass top stove when we moved. I love the look of it but if any pot spills over even a little bit, that spillage is sure to leave a mark.
I have considering buying a glass top cleaner kit as I’ve done that in the past. But frankly, I’m trying to save money. And I’m also trying to use more and more natural cleaners in our daily life.
So I whipped up a All Natural Glass Cleaner Recipe using two ingredients – Baking Soda and All Purpose Cleaner. I used BabyGanics Toy & Highchair Cleaner since that is what I had handy in my kitchen. Next time, I may try using a glass cleaner or maybe even vinegar.
So first I poured Baking Soda on all of the areas of my stove top that needed cleaning.
Then I sprayed the cleaner on top of the baking soda. It was super interesting to see the mixture bubble up a little.
Next, I set the timer for 20 minutes.
After the 20 minutes pass, get to work. I used an old towel and just started scrubbing. First, I needed to wipe away the thick baking soda. After that, I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. I found that the really tricky areas started to get clean when I applied pressure on the towel with just one or two of my fingers.
I think I spent around 15 minutes scrubbing and scrubbing all of the trouble areas on my stove top. When I finished, I used a second dry towel to shine the stove top.
Below is the finished product. What do you think?
If I’m fully honest, there are two spots where I need to repeat these steps. And, I’m frustrated because I think I scratched our glass top. (Not today – a few weeks ago while using an older pan.) That’s just not what you want to do on a practically brand new stove! But now I’m pleased to know that I have a quick and easy (and inexpensive) way to clean my stove.
Have you found any natural glass stove top cleaner recipes that work for you? I would love to hear them!
