Photo Show and Tell – Publix 7/14/11

This was an awesome week to shop at Publix. We live on coffee (I’m drinking a cup right now) and so I bought 8 bags of Eight O Clock coffee. (I may go back for more – yes we drink THAT much coffee) And, we LOVE Feta Cheese so I was able to stock up on 8 containers of President Feta. (This type of cheese freezes really well.) I am actually using a new computer we just got and can you believe I still haven’t figured out how to hook it up to our printer? So, my goal is to figure it out before the sale is over so I can print out two more $3/2 feta cheese coupons. 🙂 The feta and coffee are at rock bottom prices but are still a bit “pricey”, so I went into Publix today knowing I would be spending more than usual. It was a great day to snag a few freebies – Zantac, Papermate Pens, scissors and Kellogg’s Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit. I was also able to share two of my $1.00/1 Kellogg’s Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit coupons with a customer who was standing in the cereal aisle. She was going to get a different type of mini wheats but when I showed her she could get two boxes for $0.99 each with my coupons, she immediately put her boxes away. Love it! I also have to give a huge thank you to Melissa R for sending me the awesome Publix coupon where you get a $10.00 Publix gift card when you spend $50.0. Thank you so much for sharing it with me – I put it to good use today!

My weekly grocery trip occurred at 5 pm today (Friday). It has been SO rainy that with the gloomy weather plus my struggle to get back to reality after a short trip to Colorado, I just didn’t want to leave the dryness of my house! But I did finally go and was able to take advantage of one my favorite deals – BOGO Emerald Peanuts when I have $1/1 coupons! 🙂 I can’t say that you will find my totals or purchases overly impressive. Today was truly a stockpile day with my nuts, pasta and tuna purchases. I added a few other deals – free Johnson & Johnson first aid kits and cheap Caribou coffee.. I had a great day at Publix today! (Really – when do I not? I love Publix!) I had quite a few free coupons that expired after today so I went today instead of tomorrow/Friday. I came across a few great peelies that scored me great deals. And I was able to really maximize my Target store coupons. Remember that not all Publix locations accept Target coupons so make sure you find out before you start shopping. I think I had a coupon for everything except the eggs, Bush’s Baked Beans and Eagle Condensed Milk. My poor cashier! She was awesome though and she knows all about my website and she coupons but yet never visits meon Addicted to Saving! So, I’m hoping she will join in on the madness along with all of us! 🙂 Oh – and if you are noticing a lack of produce, I received my delivery from the Organic Produce Groupon deal I posted about HERE. So, with the delivery and the peppers from my garden plus the fact that my hubby and I will be away for a few days, I really didn’t need any produce at all.

**I also did the awesome $10.00 off $50.00 Gas Card deal. I didn’t include that in my total below since that will fall under my gas budget, not grocery budget.

I did my Publix shopping trip early this week. Tomorrow I have an appointment during the time that I normally shop, so this week I got an early start on the new Publix sales. I have to admit that I came out of pocket a bit more than I would have desired. ($29.62) When I add that to the $52.00 I’ve already spent this month on groceries, that is a bit more than I normally spend in any given month. But I splurged a little as some of the sales weren’t quite “stock pile” prices. I am finding that when I first started couponing, I really made a game out of my shopping trips. I would literally see how close to $0.00 I could spend out of pocket. But now that I’ve been doing this for years, I’m starting to “relax” a bit and have a bit more fun. (Although, every now and then I make my shopping trips a game so don’t worry, you will see more of my crazy savings trips in the future ;)) I’m also trying hard to keep fresh produce in the house. I may actually have to go back for more soda. My husband and I don’t drink soda, but we are having a house full Saturday and I am thinking the three bottles I bought won’t cut it. If you do buy 2 liters of coke products, be on the lookout for hangtags. Coke 2 liters are on sale B2G1. The hangtag is Buy 2 Coke 2L, Get 1 Coke Zero 2L free. So, with the sale, you get three bottles for the price of one. 🙂 Also – I scored an awesome deal on Olay Regenerist – with my coupons they came to $0.50 each!

I had a quick Publix trip this week. I was in desperate need of milk so my priorities were the milk, eggs, broccoli and apples. Everything else I bought because of the awesome coupons I had. I really wanted to get the Magnum Ice Cream bars because I have the $1.00/1 Target coupon but my RP insert didn’t have the manufacturer’s coupon to go with it – instead my insert just had a one page ad for Magnum. Not cool. 🙁 I did forget to bring my $2.00/1 fresh produce Publix coupons so while I could have spent less money this week, I will save the money next week as I use the coupons then. I was a bit a lot disappointed to see that the shelves were wiped clean of a lot of the deals I wanted to do. But I have to remember that that is what I get for going grocery shopping after 5 pm on a Friday! **Oh and a funny side note – the lady in line behind me watched me use all of my coupons and proceeded to tell me that she doesn’t use coupons because she only buy organic food at Whole Foods. I look at her grocery cart and in it is 6 cartons of Breyer’s Ice Cream, 4 boxes of Duncan Hines cake mix and then some random odds and ends. Not quite organic is it? 😉

Happy Friday! I hope you all have had a great week! This was a busy and yet very productive week for me and I barely eeked in a Publix grocery trip before Publix closed tonight! I wasn’t overly impressed with this week’s sales so I didn’t buy too much. But, I did splurge on Tilapia and I’m super excited to make it! I was also shocked to see that my store had Tylenol Precise in stock so I was happy to get two boxes for free! 🙂 I also managed to get the Sargento cheese for $0.50 each! Here is how: I used two $1.00/1 Sargento Publix Store coupons (there is no limits on the coupon stating one per transaction) and I used one $1.00 off ANY brand 1 lb shredded, cubed or brick cheese manufacturer coupon. This is a manufacturer coupon that states valid in Florida. Since two Sargento 8 oz bags equal one pound, I was able to use one coupon per two bags of cheese. (I was also allowed to use this on the Cheddar Cheese even though it was an ounce short.) I asked customer service if I could do this transaction prior to doing it. I recommend you do the same.

Today is the day for fresh produce! Between my shopping trip at Publix and my shopping trip at Winn Dixie, (where I just bought fresh produce using a gift card I received from transfering a ) I stocked up on a TON of fresh produce. My nutritionist would be so proud of me. 😉 Fortunately, my husband and I love salad and veggies so we will be eating lots of meals on a bed of lettuce the next few days! I found an AWESOME deal on the Oscar Mayer Low Sodium Turkey Bacon at Publix. I had a $1/1 Target coupon and a $0.75/1 manufacturer coupon so with both coupons I got the bacon for $1.64 (it was regularly priced at $3.39 at my Publix). Also – if you have any $1.00/1 any Kame product coupons, you can score a can of Kame Water Chestnuts for just $0.34! All of the coupon details are below.
