Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/27/11

I am doing things a bit differently this week!  Instead of posting my regular Photo Show and Tell, I am highlighting some of the successes of you all!  It has been a busy week and I wasn’t able to get to the store like I normally do.  In fact, I’m sure many of you have weeks where you take time off from grocery shopping?  That is me this week!  🙂  (Don’t worry though – I do plan to use my $10/$40 Sweetbay coupon before it expires ;))

Holly emailed me the two pictures above after saving 66%!  And here is what I like about everything she bought – she bought expensive items like Breyers Ice Cream, Jergens lotion and Hawaiian Tropic suntan lotion!

Below is a list of everything she purchased including the coupons used:

  • 4 bottles Sweet baby ray’s BBQ sauce B1G1 and 2 $1 off 2 bottles coupon
  • 2 bottles of Heinz ketchup 2 for $4 and 50cents off 2 coupon
  • 2 bottles of Kraft Italian dressing B1G1 and $1 off 2 bottles Target coupon
  • 2 tubs of Breyers Ice cream B1G1 and $1.50 off 2 tubs Target coupon
  • 6 canisters of Crystal light powdered drink mix B1G1 and I had a buy 2 get one free coupon
  • 1 bottle of Jergens lotion – had $1 off coupon attached to bottle and $1 off coupon manufacturer coupon
  • 1 bottle Hawaiian tropic SPF 30 $2 off manufactures coupon plus a $2 off Publix coupon
  • Bag of Frozen peas – no coupon 🙂

Total Spent: $25.84, Total Saved: $49.39, Percentage Saved: 66%

Rebekah emailed me and provided me with the link to her blog HERE where she posted about this awesome shopping trip!  Rebekah spend $51.00 on everything pictured above and saved $118! 

Below is a list of everything she purchased:

Lastly – Kara sent me two pictures that I couldn’t open of her grocery trip below 🙁  But, along with the pictures, she sent me the awesome stats for what she purchased!  The best thing about Kara’s purchase is that it included a little over 4 pounds of steak!  Kara saved 63% on everything below and even though she said she usually saves more, I think she did awesome!  There is absolutely nothing wrong with splurging on fun things like steak when you save so much money on other groceries! 🙂

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/20/11

As you can see from my picture, today’s Publix shopping trip wasn’t a huge trip!  This has been a crazy week and it isn’t over yet.  I try to work a certain number of hours each day and I can say that this week I definitely went well beyond the limits I set for myself!  But, I’m so excited about the new printable grocery list – do you guys like it??  I’m also excited about the morning I had yesterday.  Yesterday I went to ABC 10 Action News studio and they taped a piece that is scheduled to air this upcoming Wednesday!  My hope is that I spoke at least somewhat intelligently! 

During my trip today, I wanted some veggies but besides that, I didn’t stock up on much at all.  I’m excited about the Blue Diamond Almonds and my husband will be excited about the Smart Balance spread.  I only had two $1.00 off ANY Chinet coupons so I wasn’t able to stock up on the napkins like I wanted.  I know many of you asked how to get that coupon – you have to sign up for a Chinet account.  Then, Chinet emails you a coupon good for $1.00 off any Chinet product.  The Covergirl Blush was a moneymaker as were the Sundown Vitamins.  The overage from those items helped my out of pocket spending quite a bit!  I ended up getting $8.62 worth of fresh veggies and spent a total of $7.80 on everything pictured.  So, I was happy.  And, I still had money left on my Publix gift card so I didn’t actually have to spend anything on today’s trip which made me even more happy!  😉

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/13/11

I was desperately in need of lettuce, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and salt today so those were my priorites when I did my weekly shopping trip.  So, I went with a list of veggies I needed and then added in some of the great sales that are going on. 

I spoke with management at my store and I am so happy to see that very very little is changing at my Publix.  They will be reading the verbiage on the store coupons which they didn’t tend to do in the past, but besides that they are going to add two new grocery stores to their accepted competitor list which will only benefit me!  So, I’m thrilled with the new coupon policy!  🙂  I forsee each store handling the policy differently so I highly recommend you ask customer service how the store will handle situations like duplicate store coupons, overage, dollar off coupons, etc etc.  My store (as the coupon policy states) will accept one dollar off (i.e. $5/$30) Publix store coupon and one dollar off competitor coupon in one transaction.  That said, you will have to purchase the total amount of the two coupons before using your other coupons.  So, if you use two $5/$30, you will have to spend $60 before coupons.  That isn’t a problem for me because I never used two dollar off coupons in one transaction!  All in all, I think the new policy is wonderful because we have something in writing and while there are still many “gray areas,” at least we have a policy to bring to the store with us!  **If you missed my post on the dissecting the Publix policy earlier this week, go HERE.  

I took advantage of the Sominex deal and the John Frieda deal but I only did one deal since the Green Advantage flyer verbiage limits one coupon per customer.  I did use multiple Vlasic Publix store coupons but that is because there were no limitations on them.  The best part about today’s trip is that I spent $0.00 out of pocket since I was using the $25.00 Publix gift card given to me by My Blog Spark and General Mills.  Don’t forget to enter to win the $25.00 gift certificate I am giving to one Addicted to Saving Reader (go HERE).

I wanted to make sure you all didn’t miss yesterday’s Photo Show and Tell.  I know I usually post my Photo Show and Tells on Fridays so I wanted to post this to make sure you didn’t miss my early posting.  Go HERE to read my Photo Show and Tell from yesterday (Thursday, May 5th).

On a side note, I will post pictures of my “garden” early next week.  We didn’t end up getting my raised garden (that I affectionately call a sandbox garden) going last weekend.  We have a very sick dog on our hands and my husband and I have literally been by his side 24 hours a day since he can’t be left unattended.  All this to say, I’m really hoping to get my additional veggie garden going in the next week or so.  Do you think that will be too late to plant more veggies?

I did my weekly Publix shopping trip a day early this week with great results!  You can see from the picture that I managed to stock up on Tidy Cats kitty litter.  Sadly, my cat doesn’t like this kind of litter but I will gladly donate it to my local vet.  Speaking of which – for those of you that don’t have pets, if you are inclined please remember that shelters, animal hospitals, etc are always looking for supplies like litter, food, cleaning products, etc.  You can also see that I stocked up on Eight O Clock coffee – that was the goal of my shopping trip today!  I have a few more coupons to use so will go and get more coffee before the sale is over.  (We go through coffee like it is nobody’s business!)  I also scored a few freebies so if we ever have tummy “issues” in our household, we should be covered.  😉  I actually went to Publix yesterday to pick up a raincheck on the Bic Soleil razor deal and got some fresh produce.  The past 4 weeks I have definitely come out of pocket more than normal.. But I do have a lot to show for it and I’m still happily under budget.

I also took advantage of the gas card deal but didn’t include it in my numbers below since the money I spent will go towards our gas budget.  If you are unaware of the deal, in this week’s ad is a coupon for $10.00 off a $50.00 gas card when you spend $25.00 or more.  This is an awesome deal as long as you have the $40.00 to cover the cost of the gas card.

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 4/29/11

I had a marvelous day at Publix today!  I’ve spent a bit more out of pocket than I would desire the past couple of weeks so I was happy to spend $7.99 today 🙂  Today was especially fun because I went in with really three things that I needed (grapes, fresh corn and onions) and since I needed just a few things, I was able to really focus on the awesome freebies available!  I was so pleased to see that my store was stocked on everything!  Considering I shopped so late in their sales ad, Publix was beyond stocked on everything!  And, I went through my printable and “free” coupons to make sure I used all of the coupons I have that expire 4/30.. (If you printed the $1/1 Mission coupon, the $2/1 Tribe Hummus coupon and if you have the FREE Bic Lighter coupon and you haven’t used them yet, use it now!)  I also grabbed 4 Cadberry Eggs not knowing how much they were marked down so I was excited to see that they rang up for $0.37 each!  I love those things! 

I also talked to numerous customer service staff members and cashiers about the Publix coupon policy changes and I want to reinforce what I posted yesterday – everyone CALM down.  🙂  I don’t forsee the changes to be anything we can’t handle.  I promise.  Stores will be cracking down on the competitor coupons that they accepts but right now, my Publix only accepts two stores (Sweet Bay and Winn Dixie) and I still save big bucks every week.  So, for those of you who may not be able to use CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc in the future, don’t fret!  I promise you will still save big.  Okay?  Also – once the official changes go through, I will post about it and we can game plan how we will save going forward. 🙂

If I had to sum up my Publix shopping trip today, it would be HELLO CHEESE!  I’m armed and ready to make at least two lasagnas and at least one dish of stuffed shells.  YUM.  Publix has some great sales today and I was so excited to get mozzarella cheese, ricotta and to try out the new Kraft Mozzarella w/ Philly Shredded cheese.  I spent a bit more than I desired and expected but I am pleased with 80.6% savings!  I also giggled to myself as I put the two bottles of French’s mustard in my shopping cart because I was picturing myself not buying one bottle but 150 like the lady on Extreme Couponing.  heehee.  I also was able to do the Right Guard deodorant and body wash deal which made me extremely happy.

Publix has some great sales this week!  Today I scored some great freebies but more importantly to me, I snagged a little of 8 lbs of chicken breasts, tons of zucchini (I will be experimenting trying to cook this awesome Greek zucchini dish called Boureki – I will make it every night until it comes out just right even if my husband and I start to turn green ;)) and of course the Cascadian Farm frozen veggie deal!  I got 6 bags of Cascadian Farm frozen edamame.  YUM.  Also – I don’t know if you can tell in this picture but attached to two of the bags of Almond Accents are $1.00 off Bagged Salad wyb 2 bags of Almond Accents coupons.  Yup.  Still attached.  That means the salad that I bought I ended up paying full price for.  My cashier didn’t pull the coupons off the bags and I forgot to pull them off as well.  I know I could go back to get $2.00 taken off but I just don’t have the time for it.. Oh well..  If you take advantage of the Almond Accents deal, make sure you check out all of the bags because at my Publix, a ton of the bags had the great $1.00 off salad coupon. 

Since I have been away for a few weeks, I needed to restock my refrigerater with produce and some necessities like eggs and margarine.  I also missed out on some of the great coupon booklets that Kelly posted about while I was gone so that was disappointing, but I’m still really pleased!  I also have a friend who gave me a ton of awesome Winn Dixie coupons so that helped my out of pocket spending on the pork, ground beef and the melon.  My total spent out of pocket today definitely wouldn’t get me on Extreme Couponing this week, but as we’ve already discussed earlier this week, Extreme Couponing isn’t very realistic is it?  And, sometimes I do have savings of 90% or more.. Today, however, with all of the produce and meat, I am thrilled that I saved 72.5%!  And, my freezer is now restocked with chicken and it already has more meat than I could imagine!
