Hello FREE Special K cereal, Peter Pan Peanut Butter, Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate and Tony’s Pizzas! Yup – I had a great shopping trip today. If you are new to couponing, this is a great time to start using them! And, if you don’t eat Special K cereal, it would be a great item to donate to your local food pantry! Also – if you have the $2.50/2 Covergirl Cosmetics coupon or the $1/1 Covergirl coupon in the 12/26/2010 P&G inserts, make sure you bring it/them. I forgot to bring my Covergirl coupons but with the $3/2 coupon you should be able to score a great deal on nail polish, mascara, nail clippers and more!

I think I can safely say that I had my last Publix shopping trip for the year 2010. And, to commemorate this occasion, I brought A TON of coupons that I had that were expiring. If you have any FREEBIE coupons in your stash, check the expiration dates because I had a large pile expiring on 12/31. I had a great shopping trip though. I did nothing other than use my expiring coupons and stock up on Fridays appetizers. We will be away from the house for a while so I didn’t need any veggies. Also – a HUGE thanks to Katrina for posting the awesome FREE Clorox wipes deal. Those are the kind of deals that literally make my day. 🙂

I had a marvelous time at Publix today. My grocery cart was literally overflowing – so much so that I had groceries on top of my purse which is something I never do. The best thing about all of the groceries is that I am giving a ton of them away so that makes me feel even more productive! I shopped at the Publix near me that accepts Target coupons so that I could maximize all of the Target coupons I have stashed away. I did spend a bit more out of pocket than I probably would have desired but I did get fresh veggies and a ton of Birds Eye frozen veggies. We eat a lot of veggies in this house and if we eat frozen veggies, my favorite are Birds Eye Steamfresh veggies (with NO sauce). Pop the bag in the microwave and voila – a healthy side dish. I “splurged” on Oscar Mayer Bacon. I had a manufacturer and a Target coupon burning a hole in my pocket so I couldn’t resist. Besides, that I stocked up on crackers, oatmeal, peanuts, Ore-Ida Hash Browns and I even got six bottles of soda which we barely drink – yes the soda and Hash Browns will definitely be shared! 🙂

Well – today I did my weekly Publix run. I know some of you are probably disappointed that I didn’t purchase more items this week! I just didn’t love this week’s deals. I did, however, LOVE the chicken deal and the green beans, zucchini and yellow squash deal. So, I stocked up – emphasis on the word “stocked” – on boneless, skinless chicken breasts and I bought about 5 lbs of veggies that should last us through the week. I only gave the cashier four coupons and that literally killed me. But, I had to remind myself that I was scoring great deals on the meat and veggies! 🙂 What I will do with the chicken is split it up into 1 lb portions (or should I say my husband will) and we will trim the fat, put the chicken in Ziploc freezer baggies and freeze it. That’s the key with stockpiling. Stock up on an item when it is dirt cheap (for Publix $1.99/lb for chicken breasts is dirt cheap) and then buy it next time it is on sale dirt cheap again. So – for all of you who ask me if I eat meat – the answer is yes… that said, I have a freezer now stocked with chicken and red meat that I have managed to purchase when they have been on sale good.

It has been so long since I’ve been shopping! Today while shoping I realized that I haven’t been in Publix since before Thanksgiving and for the first time since I started this website I didn’t do a Photo Show and Tell! I forced myself to go to Publix today because I needed to get Tomato Puree for my pasta sauce that I plan on making this week. I had another great Publix trip today! I think I’m officially ready for Thanksgiving cooking and baking! Stay tuned – next week I will tell you all of the dishes I am making for Thanksgiving dinner so you can see how I cook off of my stockpile! For today, though, I think my favorite deal was the BIC Lighters. I love those things and at $0.25 each after coupons I had to stock up. They are perfect for lighting deep jar candles like Yankee Candles. This Christmas if I give away candles as presents I will have a lighter to give right along with it! 🙂 I wasn’t planning on buying regular potatoes either.. I still have the potatoes I bought a week ago.. BUT, the bags of Idaho potatoes had a hang tag on them where you get $1.00 off potatoes when you buy Breakstone Sour Cream. I was already planning on buying the sour cream so I just couldn’t pass up buying two 5lb bags of potatoes for $0.99 each with the coupon! If you decide to do any of the deals using Publix’s Harvest of Savings booklet, make sure you note that the coupons expire tomorrow – 11/20. I had a great trip though and I’m super excited about next week’s cooking!
