Wow. Looking at this picture I definitely see a ton of carbs. Eek. Good thing I share my food with others 🙂 I had a marvelous Publix trip today. It was a trip that I threw together very quickly this morning. I focused on the sales items and grabbed a bag of lettuce and a dozen eggs and one lone banana for after my long run on Sunday. I splurged on the Doritos. They are on sale but I had no coupons. And, I don’t normally buy chips. I’m regretting it already considering I consumed quite a bit despite that the fact that they have been in my house for less than 8 hours. UGH. I did awesome though. I saved 95.2% and I have a ton of food to stockpile away and to give away which makes me very happy.

I know I know I know. You are looking at this picture and not only are you thinking and wondering why I bought so many Toaster Strudels, but you are also wondering where all the veggies are and where the meat is!! (Do I know all of you or what? 😉 You know that I love Publix. Today, however, there really wasn’t much I wanted to buy. I wanted to get the Trop50 Orange Juice and I wanted to get the Barilla pasta sauce. But seriously, I would have been okay buying just those two things. HOWEVER, everything got tricky when I had a $10.00 off of $50.00 Publix store coupon that a reader sent me last week. I had to spend $50.00 (before coupons) in order to use this coupon. So, since I am planning on buying chicken at Sweetbay this week (go HERE for more info) and since I still have veggies from last week’s Publix sale, I decided to splurge on Toaster Strudel. My hubby is a huge fan of it. That said, neither he nor I will go through all 12 boxes. So, never fear, I have already given away 6 boxes 🙂

I had such a fun Publix trip today. The trip was so fun because going into it, I had an amazing scenario planned around the Ball Park Franks B1G1 sale. I had all of the coupons necessary to get 6 packages of Ball Park Franks free, 3 packages of Publix hot dog buns free and 6 bottles of Pepsi Max free. When you go to Publix, make sure you look for a tearpad near the Ball Park Franks which will get you hot dog buns free when you buy 2 packages of franks!

Have I told you before that I have been blessed by awesome readers? One reader sent me MorningStar coupons which I was able to use today with a rain check I had from last week. Another reader sent me two $10.00 off when you spend $50.00 Publix coupons. And, she sent me a couple of other goodies. So, can I tell you all that not only do you bless me with your comments on this website and on Facebook, but I appreciate the goodies that you send me! But back to my shopping trip. This was an awesome trip – I was able to get more produce and some fruit. I got the free Stride gum although it is scary to me. Have you all tried it yet? I’m trying to imagine how gum can be good that starts off tasting like fruit and then ends up tasting minty. Hmmm. How did you all do at Publix this week? Would love to hear!

I had another great Publix trip today! I focused on a few sales items that I wanted to stock up on and I focused on the awesome $0.99/lb produce deals. I am wondering if I can cut up and freeze zucchini and yellow squash? Has anyone tried that before?

I had a great trip although I chose the wrong cashier. You all know what I mean… when I got in her line I knew right away I should have chosen a different line… But, I put on a smile and I organized my stack of my coupons to match the order of the items on the conveyor belt. My first problem was when she wouldn’t give me overage on the Combat even though I’ve received overage on that deal at her Publix numerous times before. No big deal to me. I didn’t want to raise a fuss and ruin it for any couponers who happened in her line after me. However, she told me she would use either the store Combat coupon or the manufacturer coupon. Not both. I reminded her that she had to adjust the value of the coupon down so that I received the item free without overage. She reluctantly did this. It was funny to me that she knew how to do this which showed me she just didn’t want to give me the item free and she was hoping I would let it slide. Then, towards the end of the transaction, her register wouldn’t allow her to accept any more coupons because I gave her so many store and manufacturer coupons. Not a bid deal right? Well, she tells me she can’t accept any more of my coupons and literally is about to hand my pile of unused coupons back. To which I tell her, no, all you need to do is have a manager override the system. Again, she reluctantly did this and called the manager over and the manager (who was awesome btw) punched in her code.

This was a reminder, though, of how important it is to know how couponing works. If I was a coupon newbie, I would have lost money on the Combat deal and I would have lost money on the stack of coupons the cashier tried to give me back! To my newbies reading this, always know that it is okay to question a cashier’s actions.

Today’s Publix trip was fantastic. I went to a Publix located a bit farther from my “regular” Publix because I wanted to go to one that accepts Target coupons. Today was not my full weekly shopping trip. In fact, I had a full blown shopping trip this past Tuesday and I didn’t think about taking a picture of everything until now for proof. This past Tuesday I spent $29.95 and saved $120.46 and stocked up on tons of meat (4 packages of Ground Sirloin, 2 packages of Pork Country Ribs, 1 package of Sirloin Tip Steak) and produce and lots of pasta, cereal and other stuff. So, since I bought so much on Tuesday, today I really bought only the highlights that stuck out at me from the ad. I was able to score a TON of free stuff today. Originally I was planning on paying around $0.50 (after using Target store coupons) or so for each Planters Peanuts but this awesome Publix worker saw me taking the Planters off the shelf and showed me an awesome tearpad with $1.00/2 Planters Products. Score! With the tearpad, I was able to get all the nuts for free AND I received $0.87 overage! I LOVE Publix! Also – random side note – my husband very rarely eats Chef Boyardee (I can’t stomach it) and neither of us eat Kids Cuisine. BUT, I have these awesome boys in my neighborhood that I love to shower with free food and they will be receiving the Kids Cuisine and most of the Chef Boyardee 😉

I had an awesome Publix trip today! I knew right away it would be a good trip because of the $10.00 off of $50.00 coupon my reader Christine mailed me! I really went into today’s trip making it as a game. I wanted to spend at least $50.00 before coupons (so I could use the $10/$50) and yet I wanted to score as many of the best deals as I could so that I spent as little money as possible. Success! 🙂 Many of you have emailed me about where my produce is and where my meat is in my Photo Show and Tells. Sometimes I buy meat but not often. I only buy it when it is on sale good and then I stock up and freeze it (I will buy as much as 20 lbs of it). (Someday I will post pictures of my stockpiles to prove I have veggies, meat, dairy, etc.) Regarding produce, lately, I have found Winn Dixie to have better produce prices. And, last month there was the awesome Groupon deal I posted. I bought two $25.00 gift certificates to Messineo’s Market in St Petersburg. (I paid zero for the Groupon b/c I had a Groupon gift certificate.) Anyways, I was able to score a TON of produce (organic and non organic), organic lean ground beef, fresh salmon, organic salsa, the list goes on and on). Remember when you view my photos that this is not the only shopping I do each week. This is my “main” Publix run. I will usually make one more grocery stop than the one you see pictured. The totals I have on the left side of the screen include all of the out of pocket spending I make each month on groceries and toiletries at every store I shop at. So, the totals are an accurate portrayal of my spending and saving. Just remember that sometimes I use gift cards, sometimes I use Groupon deals, I am always looking to maximize each dollar I have. Also – remember that we all have different needs. I have been stockpiling for literally a year now so I have a lot of food, toiletries, etc.
