Hubby and I were just talking this past week about how it seems we are spending more money lately at Publix.  It’s interesting because in year 2010, I spent under $1,000 the entire year on all of my grocery and drugstore shopping.  Now, when I factor in the produce coop I belong to and spending on average $30-$40 a week grocery shopping, there is no way I will even come close to spending as little as $1,000.  Some of the things we are dedicating more money to is our weekly coop, eggs and milk.  We are buying organic as often as we can.  But it’s tough! I have a set amount of money to put towards food each week and while I wish I could afford to buy only organic, I have to delegate our money to what is most important to us right now.  And for now, it is making sure our 17 month old gets organic milk and eggs. Fortunately, we can get deals on organic groceries from time to time at Publix!  And let’s be honest, even if we bought all organic, I would still cheat and buy fun foods like Lay’s potato chips from time to time! 😉

Please remember that you do not see much produce in today’s shopping trip because hubby and I belong to a weekly coop. So, every week, we get a bin full of around 40 lbs of fruits and veggies. We also have stocked up on boneless, skinless chicken breasts with Zaycon Foods. **Right now Zaycon Foods is taking reservations for their upcoming $1.89 Fresh Boneless Skinless Chicken Event!
