Bonefish Grill Specials Menu Review

If you have been following my blog since it’s inception in 2009, you will know that my husband and I love Bonefish Grill.  We love their appetizers, fresh fish and tasty desserts. This winter I was given the opportunity to try out and review their new Specials Menu. Of course I jumped on the opportunity. I’m not a restaurant reviewer, so in some ways, I always feel ill-equipped to publicly review food I get at restaurants. I am instead a busy (and tired) mom who has a 3 and 5 year old while attempting to work full time on my blog. I also very seldom get a night out without the kids. So when I do get a rare night out, I want to know that I’m going to a place where the atmosphere will be friendly and laid back and the food will be tried and true. Bonefish Grill never disappoints!

The Specials Menu changes frequently at Bonefish. Right now they have fun specials like Caribbean Style Fresh Cobia, Italian Seafood Risotto, Wild Orchid Hawaiian Martinis and so much more.

When you head to Bonefish Grill, do not miss out on their Wild Orchid Hawaiian Martini. This martini has Cruzan Guava rum, pineapple juice, Zico coconut water & the island flavors of desert pear and coconut. In your martini will be an orchid. If you are adventurous, don’t do what I did and remove the orchid from your drink! Instead, take a taste! It’s edible. This drink was sweet and refreshing. A fun frugal tip is to head to Bonefish on Martini  Mondays to get $5 Martinis! This includes their Wild Orchid Hawaiian Martini, Bonefish Pomegranate, Fresh Raspberry, Tropic Heat, Fresh Pineapple, Cosmopolitan, and Espresso Martini!

Bonefish Grill’s new Imperial Dip was definitely one of my highlights of the night. This dip has tender shrimp, bay scallops, lump crab and lemon caper butter. It is STUFFED with seafood. Every bite had shrimp, scallops and crab meat. The dip is served with seasoned house-made tortilla chips. The chips have a bit of heat from the seasoning and the spiciness of the chips combined with the creaminess of the Imperial Dip was amazing. The bummer about this dip is that it was only available through the 19th of February. If it goes on their menu again, make sure you try it out. It is amazing.

And then there is our absolute favorite appetizer. We’ve never been disappointed by Bonefish’s Bang Bang Shrimp. If you like shrimp, make sure you try this appetizer out. You will not be disappointed. It is crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy and spicy sauce. The shrimp is on a bed of lettuce. Every bite is amazing. If you are gluten free, tell your server and the kitchen will make you Naked Bang Bang Shrimp. And if you are a fan of Bang Bang Shrimp, don’t miss this frugal tip! On Wednesdays, Bang Bang Shrimp is just $6.00! It’s a steal!

One of Bonefish Grill’s current specials is Italian Seafood Risotto Shrimp. One of the foods I would not expect to get at Bonefish is risotto. I was a bit skeptical about how it would taste and if it would taste truly Italian. I was not disappointed. The creamy pesto Parmesan risotto is covered with bay scallops, asparagus, tomatoes and red onions. This entree was filling. And so good. If you like pesto sauce (I adore it), you will really enjoy the flavor of this dish. We actually weren’t able to finish all of this dish so we brought some home in a doggy bag. It was just as good the next day (if not better)!

My husband and I love seafood but we have never tried cobia. When we saw that Caribbean-Style Fresh Cobia was one of the entrees on the Specials Menu, we had to try it out. Caribbean-Style Fresh Cobia is wood-grilled fresh Atlantic Cobia on freshly grilled pineapple with three jumbo shrimp, topped with pineapple salsa, a house-made vanilla rum butter sauce and toasted coconut, with your choice of two fresh sides. Cobia reminded me a bit of swordfish. It’s a denser fish that’s not fatty nor does it taste “fishy.” The vanilla rum butter sauce with toasted coconut was the perfect compliment to the grilled Cobia. The pineapple salsa was a fresh, flavorful topping that added a fun twist to the fish. My husband isn’t a fan of pineapple but he loved this dish and the flavoring of pineapple on the fish. This entree one of higher priced entrees on Bonefish’s menu. Don’t let that deter you from trying this entree out. It is filling and so flavorful. You can choose two sides to go with it. We chose broccoli and asparagus and the veggies were cooked perfectly. This Caribbean-Style Fresh Cobia also goes perfectly with the Wild Orchid Hawaiian Martini or a glass of Cabernet!

Bonefish’s Key Lime Pie is one of our go-to desserts at Bonefish. I actually never had Key Lime Pie until we moved to Florida over 14 years ago. I was hooked after my first bite. Bonefish’s Key Lime Pie has a creamy and tangy key lime filling which is on an amazing graham cracker crust. Every time we go to Bonefish we get this dessert. This is one of their desserts that they have year-round.

This amazing Chocolate Lava Cake is  found on Bonefish’s Specials Menu. I’ve had Chocolate Lava Cake at other restaurants but what made this dessert so special was the combination of the chocolate cake with the fresh sweet strawberries and sauce. The hot chocolate molten center combined with the sweet, cool strawberries was the perfect combination. We weren’t able to finish this dessert so we brought leftovers home to our kiddos. They loved it just as much as we did.

Have you been to Bonefish Grill before? If not, you truly must stop in. And if you are a long time fan like we are, make sure you branch out and try out some of the specials. A lot of times I get stuck in a rut and order the same meal time and time again. We loved this opportunity because we tried food we wouldn’t have normally ordered and we would definitely order these dishes again!

One of our favorite restaurants to dine at is Bonefish Grill. In fact, chances are that if we have a rare date-night without the kids, you will find us at Bonefish Grill usually at 5:30. We’ll spend a couple of hours eating and relaxing and enjoying the silence Then we’ll head home and put the kiddos to bed. We are fortunate because we have a restaurant within walking distance to our house. Because it’s so close, we’ve also been known to order takeout on nights when I don’t want to cook or I don’t want to eat what I’ve cooked for the kiddos.

Our local Bonefish Grill in Trinity, Florida remodeled much of their restaurant and hubby and I wanted to check out all of the changes. We also wanted to try some of the seasonal items on their menu. With Grandma watching our kids, we headed to Bonefish to work hard on this Bonefish Grill Review.

We immediately noticed the restaurant was packed. That’s a sign of good food! One of the first changes we noticed was that the paintings on the walls have been replaced with newer, more modern paintings.

We loved the changes to the wall separating the bar area with the rest of the restaurant. It’s not a full-wall. It’s more like a half wall with lights, open air openings, and interesting structural designs.

The separating wall now has wine bottles on display and they give a much more mature and sophisticated atmosphere to the restaurant. The flooring has been replaced and the seat cushions have been replaced. Also, the wine displays in the bar area have been changed to really highlight and display the wine. All of the changes throughout the restaurant are very impressive. The sleek interior design gives the restaurant a more modern feel.

When we were seated for our meal, we noticed that our server immediately brought us water, bread and olive oil and the menu. In the past, we’ve usually waited for bread. We were told that one of the changes Bonefish Grill has made is to bring bread right when patrons are seated. Hubby likes that change – he can very easily eat two loaves

We started our meal with our favorite. Bang Bang Shrimp. If you haven’t tried it yet, you simply must. The shrimp is crispy and tossed in a creamy spicy sauce. It’s served over lettuce. And a tip! If you are fans of Bang Bang Shrimp and wish you could have it on a large salad, ask your server. My hubby has been known to ask for a special salad topped with this shrimp. So good. Also, if you want to get a deal on Bang Bang Shrimp, head to Bonefish Grill on Wednesdays. Wednesday is “Bang Wednesday” and Bang Bang Shrimp is just $6!

Bonefish Grill’s seasonal menu has Lobster, Crab and Artichoke Dip on it and we wanted to try it out. The chips are seasoned tortilla strips and the dip was served hot. We were pleasantly surprised to see and taste huge lumps of lobster, crab meats and artichokes. If you enjoy seafood in dips, don’t miss this.

For dinner, hubby and I split two entrees. We tried out the seasonal entree Cedar Plank Bourbon Salmon. The salmon is covered in a maple and bourbon glaze that gave an awesome flavor. This dish typically comes with jasmine rice and rainbow colored carrots. We substituted the carrots for spinach. If you enjoy spinach, their spinach is awesome. It’s buttery and garlicy. Seriously so good.

The second entree we split is my favorite salad: Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad. It’s not unusual to see my husband picking up this salad to-go at our local Bonefish. This salad is topped with 5 huge grilled shrimp, crispy tortilla strips, roasted corn, black beans, feta, grape tomatoes, red onion and cilantro lime vinaigrette. It’s wonderful.

To end our night, hubby wanted dessert. He wanted to get the Chocolate Crème Brûlée. I was too full to have more than one bite. If you like chocolate, this crème brûlée is for you. My hubby was telling me that he was stuffed but he still managed to eat every bit of dessert on his plate

If you haven’t tried Bonefish Grill before, you must. While I was asked to write this Bonefish Grill Review, my hubby and I seriously love this restaurant and would have gone here unprompted. It is a wonderful place to go for date-nights. And, if you are looking for a place to go to for Sunday Brunch, their Sunday Brunch menus is wonderful as well. When I was given the opportunity to review Dunkin’ Donuts’ new Pretzel Roll Sandwich, I jumped at it. We love all things Dunkin’. We go there multiple times each week to get $0.99 Dunkin Donuts Happy Hour Coffee. And my son loves it when we get him donuts. So this morning I was excited to have Asher (my son) “help mommy with work” and help me with this Dunkin’ Donuts Pretzel Roll Sandwich Review. He took his job very seriously and looked at me with his big eyes and said “we need to get a donut too.” So we headed to our neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts and went through the drive through to pick up our breakfast. I ordered the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Pretzel Roll Sandwich as well as a large coffee and a glazed stick donut.

At first glance, the Pretzel Roll Sandwich looks like a pretzel. There are large salt flakes on the top. When I cut through the sandwich, I could tell that the bread was very soft. And it was. This sandwich was really good! The salt on the bread was the perfect accompaniment to bacon, egg and cheese. And, the roll really did taste like a pretzel! I split the sandwich with my son and he ate every bit of his sandwich (and his beloved donut).

We recently went to Bonefish Grill to celebrate my hubby’s bday and also the bday of our dear family friend Ellie. She ordered the Grilled Lamb Chops which are part of the Fire + Ice Pre-Fixe menu and she RAVED about them. She said the lamb chops were cooked perfectly and she loved the balsamic demi-glaze (and she doesn’t normally enjoy sauces with balsamic vinegar)!

Since she had ordered from the Fire & Ice Menu, she got a salad and dessert as part of her meal. Her dessert was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. She was given three warm croissant-like doughnuts. The doughnuts (I actually like to spell them “donuts” but I regress) were tossed in cinnamon sugar. She was also given two squeeze bottles – one with sea salt caramel and one with chocolate sauce. We squeezed some of the caramel and chocolate into the doughnuts and they became almost croissant like. So good.

We would order definitely order from the Fire + Ice Pre-Fixe menu again! I love getting a three course meal for a set price!

The flatbread almost seems a little more spicey than traditional Bang Bang Shrimp. The flatbread is layered with mozzarella cheese, crispy shrimp, cilantro + a creamy, spicy sauce. We would definitely get it again! Next time we go, we want to also try their Twisted Edamame Hummus. It sounded so good!

For dinner, my hubby got the Shrimp Pad Thai. This dish comes with shrimp, rice noodles, green onions, peanuts, egg + traditional Pad Thai sauce. If you like Pad Thai, you won’t be disappointed with this meal. In fact, next time, I want to get this meal!

I had the Spring Basil Fettuccine and had Salmon on top of it (you can choose from salmon, chicken and shrimp as an additional topping). The fettuccine comes with artichoke pesto, asparagus, peppers, tomatoes, white wine cream sauce + Parmesan cheese. It was really creamy and very flavorful. The salmon was a nice addition to the dish!

For dessert, we got the S’mores Flatbread. If you like s’mores, this is the dessert for you. The flatbread comes topped with creamy chocolate, toasted marshmallow + sliced almonds, sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs. The only way I thought this could have been improved is if they switched out regular flatbread for a graham cracker-like flatbread.  Or maybe if they sprinkled more graham cracker crumbs on top. I just think it needed a little more graham crackers. It was great though. We would definitely order this again for dessert!
