To help you get the most product for as little money out of pocket as possible, multiple transactions become necessary.  It is not hard to do, but it does require a little preparation.  Each week we will try to make it easy for you and provide you with some examples of a “multiple transactions scenario” with the best deals at CVS.  To see this weeks CVS ad go HERE

Photo Show and Tell – CVS 5/13/10

My friend Kara and I had an awesome time shopping at CVS earlier this week.  CVS has a ton of freebies and moneymakers this week and fortunately for us, our CVS had pretty much everything in stock.  Go HERE to watch the video blog we shot while we shopped at CVS!  I broke my purchase up into two transactions.  I started out with $8.98 in ECBs (Extra Care Bucks).  When I have ECBs, my goal is always to use my ECBs and buy items that will then reward me with more ECBs.  That way I can roll my ECBs from one transaction to another.  And, if I have less ECBs than the total purchase price of all of the items I want to buy, I will break my transaction into two transactions.  That way, I can use all of the ECBs I have on the first transaction AND THEN put the ECBs I earned on my first transaction towards the second transaction.  This reduces the amount of money I spend out of pocket.  The only thing I wish I did differently is that I wish I had brough the B2G1 M&Ms coupon from 05-02-10 RP.  Then I would have gotten three bags of M&Ms for $0.33 each!  I did pretty good though.  I spent a total of $1.74 before tax ($3.63 after tax) and saved $33.39 AND received $12.49 in ECBs to use next time!

Addicted to Saving Video Blog – CVS 5/9 – 5/15

So, there has been a lot of things going on behind the scenes here at Addicted to Saving.  Much more than just a server upgrade which you probably remember occurred last week.  One of the changes which I am nervous about excited about involves video blogging.  You all may remember my hesitation and nerves surrounding the first video blog that I posted HERE.  Well, my friend Kara and I are going to start shooting more video on a consistent basis (hopefully it will become easier to be in front of a camera with time?) with the hopes that as we show you and explain how to match coupons with sales, you will save more money than ever before.  This is our first video so far.  All of the items we purchased at CVS are on sale from May 9th – May 15th.  Would love feedback as long as it is constructive 🙂

My local CVS is wonderful!  The cashiers are so helpful and coupon-friendly.  I would say that most of us have gone in looking for an item to earn ECBs and it has been out of stock.  Once again, we don’t have to worry about missing out on the deal. CVS will write you a rain check for that item so that you will get the ECBs when it is in stock, just ask the cashier at the register.  I have even found that at my local CVS, rain check ECBs are rounded up to the next dollar (i.e., $4.49 ECBs is rounded to $5 ECBs) Now that is a good deal!

Extra Savings with your Extracare Card at CVS

We all love CVS!  What a great way to get lots of free items. How I love free toothpaste, deodorant, and beauty items, don’t you?  I want each of you to get the most from your extracare card so I thought I would make sure that you were aware of these tips that have helped me add to my savings and get more free items. 

1. Scan your Extracare Card as you enter the store.  Coupons usually print out.  These are store coupons so you can combine them with a manufacturer coupon for added savings.  You can also check HERE for store coupons.

2. Make sure you go HERE to register your extracare card, especially be sure to register your e-mail address.  I have often gotten $5.00 off $20.00 coupons e-mailed to me, sometimes weekly.  Make sure to check the expiration date on these coupons.  They usually last only 3 days or so.  This has really helped me get much needed items for free like milk and paper towels.  And remember, you just have to get up to $20 before coupons! Lastly, always remember to give the $5.00 off $20 coupon FIRST before your other coupons to maximize your savings.
