I received an email from my contact at Whole Foods and she let me know that this Friday, September 3rd, all U.S. Whole Foods Market stores will have ground grass-fed beef on sale for $3.99/lb. If you shop at Whole Foods Market Stores or if you typically purchase grass-fed beef, then you should stop in and purchase it this Friday – just in time for Labor Day Grilling! I received a ton of emails this morning letting me know that Addicted to Saving received a shout out on Joy FM this morning! To all of the listeners checking into my site, welcome! 🙂 I am reposting my weekly Publix Photo Show and Tell for all of you to check out. Every week I post my Photo Show and Tell and tell you how much I spent and saved. Beyond that, I let you know how do the exact same transaction as me. In other words, I tell you the exact coupons to use to get the best deals. Let me know if you have any questions and again, welcome!
I had another great Publix trip today! I focused on a few sales items that I wanted to stock up on and I focused on the awesome $0.99/lb produce deals. I am wondering if I can cut up and freeze zucchini and yellow squash? Has anyone tried that before?
I had a great trip although I chose the wrong cashier. You all know what I mean… when I got in her line I knew right away I should have chosen a different line… But, I put on a smile and I organized my stack of my coupons to match the order of the items on the conveyor belt. My first problem was when she wouldn’t give me overage on the Combat even though I’ve received overage on that deal at her Publix numerous times before. No big deal to me. I didn’t want to raise a fuss and ruin it for any couponers who happened in her line after me. However, she told me she would use either the store Combat coupon or the manufacturer coupon. Not both. I reminded her that she had to adjust the value of the coupon down so that I received the item free without overage. She reluctantly did this. It was funny to me that she knew how to do this which showed me she just didn’t want to give me the item free and she was hoping I would let it slide. Then, towards the end of the transaction, her register wouldn’t allow her to accept any more coupons because I gave her so many store and manufacturer coupons. Not a bid deal right? Well, she tells me she can’t accept any more of my coupons and literally is about to hand my pile of unused coupons back. To which I tell her, no, all you need to do is have a manager override the system. Again, she reluctantly did this and called the manager over and the manager (who was awesome btw) punched in her code.
This was a reminder, though, of how important it is to know how couponing works. If I was a coupon newbie, I would have lost money on the Combat deal and I would have lost money on the stack of coupons the cashier tried to give me back! To my newbies reading this, always know that it is okay to question a cashier’s actions.

**NOTE** 1) My Publix allows us to use more than one of the same Publix store coupon and/or competitor coupon. Not all Publix locations allow this. You should ask customer service if they allow this before loading up your cart. 2) You should find out what stores your Publix considers competition so that you know what competitor coupons you can use. Some but not all Publix locations accept Target, Winn Dixie, Whole Foods, Sweet Bay, Walgreens, and many more. 3) Not all Publix locations allow overage. If your Publix does not allow overage, they will adjust the value of the coupon down so that you receive the item for free.

One of my Facebook friends posted a link to this article Milwaukee Number One in Coupon Usage and I’m totally stealing it (unbeknownst to him) to post on Addicted to Saving. The article states that the top cities that use coupons are:
1) Milwaukee
2) Philadelphia
3) Hartford/New Haven
4) Harrisburg/Lancaster
In Milwaukee 45% of households use coupons!! Why aren’t any southern cities in the top four? Let’s keep spreading the word about couponing!! If you are interested in reading this article, go HERE.

I love my job. I love working on this website and providing you with deals and helping you save money. That said, it’s hard sometimes. Living in a home with wireless internet makes it very difficult for me to put my laptop down and stop working. I can work in my husband’s office, I can work in the kitchen, I can work on my couch, in my bed, early in the morning, late at night, you get the picture. Sometimes it’s good to take a break. I was away from my computer all morning and got home at noon feeling like I’ve let you all down because you’ve missed out on deals b/c of me. Well, God woke me up when I noticed these precious deer in my backyard literally 2 feet from my lanaii. Sometimes it’s good to just take a break and appreciate everything that you have and everything that is around you. That’s what I did. I spent 30 minutes watching these precious creatures feeling thankful for my life and I am now refreshed. I hope that you all take a minute in your crazy life and thank God for the small blessings around you.
(Yes – I realize my grass needs to be cut ;))

Hey Everyone – in an effort to answer many emails I have received regarding the daily newsletter I send out, I am going to post this so that everyone is on the same page 🙂 Thank you to everyone who have subscribed to Addicted to Saving’s daily newsletter! I have been so humbled by the amount of people that have already subscribed and are still subscribing on a daily basis!
Now to make sure all of us are on the same page:
1) The daily email is 95% of the time sent out every day at 4 pm EST. The other 5% of the time it is sent out later. This is all in the hands of the web company I use to send the emails out and is out of my control. But, typically, you should see an email from Addicted to Saving in your inbox every day at 4pm.
2) The information included in the email is from the prior 24 hours. This means that every post that I have made since 4:01 pm EST the day before through 3:59 pm EST the day the email is sent is included in the email. Many of you have posted and written me because a deal may be over by the time you get the email. As you all know, deals come and go. I post each deal as soon as I am able to and my hope is that they are still available by the time Addicted to Saving’s email is sent out. However, it is out of my control when the deals are over. I try to update the posts when deals expire but sometimes I can not get to it. I recommend that you read the comments on each post because often other readers will update the post once deals have expired.
3) If you are concerned about missing out on deals then I recommend you check in to my website throughout the day and/or “like” Addicted to Saving on Facebook. (go HERE) That will insure that you see up-to-the minute postings of deals.
4) If you haven’t subscribed to the daily email and would like to, on the top right of Addicted to Saving’s homepage, you can see the link to subscribe. Fill in your info and voila, you will receive an email tomorrow.
