Some of you have been asking about Dollar Tree now taking coupons, and others have even expressed frustration when going to Dollar Tree to try to use coupons, so I thought I’d make a post so that you can be armed with information should you choose to shop there. And yes, we can get some really great deals at Dollar Tree with coupons, but they’re very specific about how they will take them. As long as you know this up front, then you shouldn’t have any problems.

I would suggest printing a copy of the below store policy and taking it with you the first time you shop at Dollar Tree, just in case you need it. The below guidelines are taken straight from Dollar Tree’s website:

IN-STORE COUPON ACCEPTANCE: GUIDELINES & LIMITATIONS

• Only original and intact manufacturers’ coupons will be accepted. Retailer-specific coupons will not be accepted. (Addicted to Saving interpretation: You will not be able to use manufacturer coupons that state “Walmart only,” for instance.)
• Coupons are void if copied, scanned, or if they have been altered in any way. (I hope no one is doing this anyhow!)
• Only two (2) print-at-home Internet coupons may be redeemed per transaction. (Printable coupons are accepted, but only two per transaction.)
• We are unable to accept coupons for “Free” items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank. (So for instance, the FREE Polygrip coupon on Redplum.com a while back would not be good at Dollar Tree.)
• Coupons can only be used in stores and must be presented at time of purchase. Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash at a later time.
• Coupons will not be accepted without the purchase of the item specified and are subject to the terms listed (e.g. expiration date, size, limitations, quantity, etc.).
• Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item. (Do not expect overage for any items.)
• Only one (1) manufacturer’s coupon will be accepted per item. (Addicted to Saving translation:  It’s possible by this that they mean no stacking with store coupons. Ask you store manager when you go in to verify.)
• Management has the right to refuse any coupon or otherwise limit quantities.  (Ultimate Trump Card here.  Suggestion: BE NICE!  You get a lot more bees with honey than vinegar.)
