Hey everyone – so, as Addicted to Saving has grown more and more I receive hundreds off emails each week with comments, questions, feedback etc etc. Most all of the feedback is so positive and encouraging and for that I thank you.
Email Request
I know that I have many new readers and I wanted to encourage any of you who are new or seasoned couponers to send me some emails with any and all questions you might have. If I receive enough questions, I will post a question/answer list or I may shoot a video answering the questions. Nonetheless, I don’t want any of you to feel “in the dark” on couponing so please email me any questions you might have and I will do my best to answer your questions in a future post. Please email all questions to: liza @addicted to saving dot com (all one word)
Housekeeping
Every now and then I will receive emails that I feel I need to address. 🙂
The most common email I receive pertains to the daily email. As a reminder, you can subscribe to receive a daily email from Addicted to Saving. It is free and the signup links are on the top right of this webpage. I send this email out once a day. It is scheduled to go out every day at 4 pm EST. I use a web service to send these emails and sometimes the emails are sent late. This is out of my hands. Typically, however, you should expect to see the email around 4:05 pm EST. The most common feedback I receive regarding the daily email is that by the time you receive it, the deals have expired, the coupons are gone, the freebies are gone. Most hot coupons, great freebies and some internet deals expire after a certain number of people take advantage of them. I can not control this. I also can not control that by the time the email has been sent some of the deals are no longer available. So, if you are concerned about missing out on high value coupons, freebies, etc, then I would recommend that you check in to addictedtosaving.com throughout the day. Or, another option is that you can “like” Addicted to Saving on Facebook to stay on up-to-the-minute on my latest posts. I send my email out once a day and the email has the previous 24 hours worth of posts on it. For those of you that have requested I send out more than one email a day, it is a great idea but then I will receive emails that I am filling up your inboxes. Hopefully this clears up any confusion! 🙂
Secondly, today I received an email which had feedback I have never heard before. Despite the originality of the email, I feel like I need to address it. To summarize, the email made reference that I have said that you can go to the store and get paid by the store to shop. Since I have upwards of 4,000 readers a day, I want to make sure that we are on the same page. The store should not and I have never said that a store will pay you cash at the checkout counter. In fact, if you have been paid in cash by a store, I would go so far as to say that your cashier did not know what he or she was doing at the time. NOW, I have made reference to “overage” numerous times. For my newbies 🙂 overage is when you have a coupon that exceeds the value of the item you are purchasing. Some stores will not allow overage and will adjust the value of the coupon down so that you get the item free while other stores will apply the overage towards other items you are purchasing. Either way, however, the store will not reach into the cash register and pay you cash for that overage deal. Does that make sense? No store should be paying you to shop.
Drugstore shopping is a bit of a different ballgame… Like grocery stores, drugstores will not and should not pay you cash to shop. But, you may earn RRs or ECBs that make your purchase what I call moneymakers. An example is if you buy a toothbrush at Walgreens that costs $1.99 and at checkout you receive $1.99 RRs (register rewards which are like instant rebates that you can use on a future purchase) when you purchase the toothbrush. Say you used a $1.00 coupon on the toothbrush. At checkout, you will spend $0.99 and then receive $1.99 RRs. This toothbrush is then what I would call a moneymaker. You just earned $1RR to purchase the toothbrush. Does this make sense? Do you all see that you are still not getting paid cash for the toothbrush?
If I still have your attention, I hope I have cleared up the confusion on daily emails and if any of you were thinking you could get paid to shop, please know that I have not once said that. AND, as a reminder, email me any questions you might have and I will address them in a future post. liza@ addicted to saving.com. (remove the spaces)
Happy couponing!
