**Update- I wanted you all to know that Cheesecake.com went above and beyond to redeem themselves and they sent myself and my in-laws a cheesecake. Their cheesecake was beyond amazing. Super rich, super tasty. So, I can safely say that I’m thinking that the situation I posted about below is a fluke and that it is not a regular occurance. I would definitely order from them again. In fact, I’m thinking about getting a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake next time. 🙂
I am hesitant to post this because I know that many of you may have great experiences with Cheesecake.com BUT since I have posted about the Groupon Cheesecake.com deal numerous times in late November and early December (no longer available), I wanted to give all of you a head’s up on my experience in case you purchased the Cheesecake.com Groupon and are still planning on using it.
Our order and experience with Cheesecake.com was a miserable failure. I bought this Groupon to as a gift sending cheesecake to my in-laws house in St. Louis for New Years. When I ordered the cheesecake I selected that I wanted the delivery date to be Tuesday, December 28th. My mother in law called me on Tuesday letting me know she hadn’t received the cheesecake. I decided to give it a day and on the 29th when they still hadn’t received the cheesecake, I called Cheesecake.com. I spoke with a person there who told me that the date I had originally selected (12/28) was not the arrival date but the date the cheesecake is sent out. (TOTALLY deceiving on their website – fyi..) So, he told me the cheesecake would actually arrive on Thursday 12/30. Well, Thursday 12/30 comes and goes and guess what? No cheesecake. I called them 12/30 and it was after their office had closed. Friday, 12/31 I called them again and either they closed early or they just were not answering their phones on New Year’s Eve. Fast forward through the weekend and yesterday comes around and I called them again. The person I spoke with was beyond unconcerned with the fact that the cheesecake hadn’t arrived. He was going to “check into it” and get back to me… Of course, I haven’t heard back from them. He didn’t mention resending the cheesecake, he didn’t mention reimbursing me for the Groupon that I bought, nothing. His customer service skills were horrid and it was apparent that he wasn’t interested in retaining me as a future customer.
When all of this was going down, I was thinking that I should email Cheesecake.com and tell them that I have a pretty busy website and give them my website’s stats. I thought that if they knew that thousands of people are going onto my site each day and that I have advertised about them in the past, they they would give me special treatment and I would get the cheesecake they promised as well as maybe a little extra cheesecake thrown in on the side. 😉 But when I thought about it, I am no more special than anyone else. And the fact that they treated me so poorly needs to be documented so that all of you know what to expect if you plan to make a purchase with them.
Well, now that I’m done venting I feel better. If you decide to order from Cheesecake.com be prepared that your order may or may not arrive and be prepared that customer service doesn’t seem concerned whether or not your order does arrive!
Now enough about me 🙂 Have any of you had any bad online ordering experiences lately? Would love to hear about it! Feel free to vent if you feel the need – you will feel better afterwards, I promise!
I would love to hear the resolution of this…. Please post whe all is said and done.
Just wanted to remind you to contact groupon about your experience as well. They want to know, AND they will also make good on your groupon.
Tracy – you are so right – the best thing about this situation is that Groupon has awesome customer service and will reimburse the certificate without any problems.
Well that just plain sucks! I would not only write them and tell them your story and your website stats but I would also include in there that many people are on your list also have websites and large Facebook friends listsu8ea and fully intend to share your story to their visitors unless something is done immediately to rectify the situation!
groupon.com has a policy that if you have a bad experience with a groupon you can get a full refund. go check out the faq and it’ll tell you the # to call. you should, this was awful.
Sorry to hear about this!!! I also want to hear a follow up to see how it all works out (hopefully with a free cheesecake thrown in!!). 😉
This is what I hope happens, YOU, of course, get your Groupon back. I sincerely want a cheesecake to be delivered not only to your in-laws house, but a cheesecake to be delivered to your home as well. I’ve been doing Customer Service Jobs for over 25 years,& this is not poor customer service–this is DEPLORABLE customer service!!
I would tell them who you are and what you do (in a matter-of-fact but not threatening manner). I’d also get this Bozo’s name and take it up the ladder, if there is one. Companies like this need to be reminded that bad service carries consequences — and these days magnified by social media. I go to a restaurant and get bad service, I don’t tell five people. I post it on Urbanspoon or Tripadvisor for everybody to see.
