By now you should know that I send out expired coupons to a military base in Italy every month. I don’t know about you, but every month, I have TONS of expired coupons that I typically throw away. I did some research online and found that I can send my expired coupons to military families overseas and they will use the coupons at their commissary and PX or BX (these are basically department stores that sell all non-food items).
Since I started saving money using coupons over a year ago now, I have been blessed ten-fold. My spending on groceries has decreased drastically and I now have more food, toiletries, etc than I would have ever imagined. I want to bless others now. So, instead of throwing away my expired coupons, I will send them to an overseas military base once a month. Would you like to help? If you are interested in participating with me, I would love for you to send me your expired coupons. Every month I will post a reminder and will give all of you 7 days to gather your expireds and mail them to me. Then, once I receive all of your coupons, I will ship them out to a military base.
Below are the requirements if you are interested in helping:
1) Mail your expired coupons to: Addicted to Saving, PMB 105, 8348 Little Rd, New Port Richey, FL 34654
2) Send me all coupons that expired ON or AFTER July 1st. (Commissaries will accept older expireds, but I’m only going to send one month old coupons since I will do this once a month)
3) Do not send me printable coupons and do not send store coupons (i.e. Target, Publix, Walgreens etc) because commissaries overseas will not accept them.
4) Separate your coupons into two categories Food & Nonfood. If you mail all of your coupons to me in one envelope, use an elastic or paperclip to keep the two categories separated. Food is considered anything eaten by humans.. Food is also considered gum. Nonfood is toiletries, dogfood or catfood (since it’s not consumed by humans), vitamins, medicine, etc.
That’s it! I will do the rest of the work! I need all of your coupons in my hand by Saturday, August 7th!

this is such a great idea! I love to be able to help others. Especially since, I- just like yourself- throw away so many coupons that I never had a chance to use. Thanks for doing this.

I will TRY to go through my coupons and find the expired ones…I have so many I’m having trouble keeping them organized and have been under the weather on top of it. I just found out today that the commissary takes expired coupons, how cool is that?
Thanks for doing this 🙂

What a great ministry to the troops! How did you find out about this? Thank YOU for doing this!

Hi Gwynne – Thanks for the comment! I did research online and found the organization that heads this up. I then selected/adopted a base and now this has become a monthly ritual 🙂

Such a great idea and a good thing to do. I will be going through my coupons tonight to get them in the mail.

I missed your collection last month. If you only accept the ones expired after July 1, what should I do with the other ones I have? Can I send them myself?
Thanks!

Hi Lisa – If you want to send June’s expireds you totally can. I send a reminder out each month so to keep it easy, I usually have everyone send in just the prior month’s coupons. You can definitely send me June’s coupons tho!
Lisa says
Thanks Liza! I will separate them by June / July. I didn’t want them to go to waste! 🙂

How great is that. I just threw out tons before I read this! I will gather them for next month.

Hey Liza I have a small box to send. Will go out on Monday.

Do we need to cut out the individual coupons or can we send the flyer pages in their entirety?
Thanks so much!
