This is the first week of a new weekly tradition for CVS. Going forward, every week there will be a Scenario post for CVS. This post will include specific items and coupons that you can use to maximize your dollar AND Extra Care Bucks at CVS. Please know that you do not have to follow these transactions if you do not want to. The goal of this post is to help you get an idea on how to roll your Extra Care Bucks from one week to the next. Please also know that these transactions do not take into account tax. Every state taxes differently so you may need to budget a little extra to cover tax.

Don’t forget there’s a $4 off a $20 purchase in the CVS Holiday Book, if you haven’t used it yet 🙂

I am new to this and have a question. If you have a transaction for example totalling $5 and you have $10 in ECB, can you use just some of your ECB to pay for that transaction?
Liza says
Hi Sheila! Thanks for your questions! 🙂 Okay – your ECBs will have an expiration date on them. While they are just like cash, make sure you use them before they expire.
With regards to using $5 ECBs when you have $10: the way it works at CVS, you will receive a separate ECB for each deal. So, if you buy two items that each generate $2.00 ECBs, on your receipt you will have two separate $2 ECBs. You can then use either both (totalling $4 ECBs) or one (just $2ECB).. So, if you have $10 ECBs from one deal, then you will want to use all of them at once. If you have one $2 ECB, one $3 ECB and one $5 ECB (totaling $10) you can use any or all of the ECBs in your next transaction. Does that make sense?
Sheila says
Thanks for your reply….I understand…yay!!!
Sheila says
Well, I just got back from my first CVS shop I spent $13.60 (before tax) for $67.63 (before tax). I got everything I went in for,but the best part, I walked out with …..$21.96 ECB for next time!!!!! Thanks for all you do.
Lily says

Sheila says
Thanks, Lily. I think I already am, addicted I mean!!
Sheila says
Another question, sorry! How long do you have to spend your ECB?
veronica says
Date to be used by is printed on the ECB’s. CVS is usually about a month. Just use by the date printed or they will expire worthless.
Sheila says
Thank you, I am going to give this a go tomorrow!!!
