My friend Kelly called me with a great Duncan Hines Cake Mix & Frosting scenario for Publix.. I then took it a step further. Here is the thing though.. not all Publix locations will allow you to use more than one of the same Publix coupon. But, you may want to note that there are no limits on this coupon (it doesn’t say one coupon per transaction on the store coupons). So, I’m giving you three different scenarios. These scenarios are assuming you live in the land of “true BOGOs” and vary so that you can choose the scenario based on how your Publix works with accepting store coupons. All pricing is based on the prices at my Publix:
Scenario One:
Buy 2 Duncan Hines Cake Mix on sale BOGO $1.99 for 2
Buy two Duncan Hines Frostings on sale $1.29 each
Minus one B1G1 Duncan Hines Premium Cake Mix (up to $1.50 value) wyb (2) Frosting or Glazes 4/10/2011 SS Insert (exp 5/30/2011) **will subtract $1.50
Minus one $0.55/1 Duncan Hines Cake Mix or Frosting Publix Store Coupon Spring Gatherings Booklet
Total Due: $2.52 or $0.84 each
Scenario Two:
Buy 2 Duncan Hines Cake Mix on sale BOGO $1.99 for 2
Buy 2 Duncan Hines Frostings on sale $1.29 each
Minus one B1G1 Duncan Hines Premium Cake Mix (up to $1.50 value) wyb (2) Frosting or Glazes 4/10/2011 SS Insert (exp 5/30/2011) **will subtract $1.50
Minus four $0.55/1 Duncan Hines Cake Mix or Frosting Publix Store Coupon Spring Gatherings Booklet
Total Due: $0.87 or $0.22 each
Scenario Three:
Buy 2 Duncan Hines Cake Mix on sale BOGO $1.99 for 2
Buy 4 Duncan Hines Frostings on sale $1.29 each
Minus two B1G1 Duncan Hines Premium Cake Mix (up to $1.50 value) wyb (2) Frosting or Glazes 4/10/2011 SS Insert (exp 5/30/2011) **will subtract $1.50 per coupon
Minus six $0.55/1 Duncan Hines Cake Mix or Frosting Publix Store Coupon Spring Gatherings Booklet

I did something similar today…used the B1G1 coupon and two Publix 1/.55 for the two cans of frosting. Cost me 1.97 for all four or .49 each. I do wish I would of thought about using 4 of the .55 Publix coupons though.

Thank you! I’ve been waiting for a great cake/ frosting sale! I did actually buy a little yesterday for bunny cupcakes. I forgot to use my MQ and didn’t even notice the SQ.

Thanks! 2 questions, what exactly is meant by “will subtract 1.50 PER COMPUTER, and do you have to give the cashier 6 actual coupons from the Publix booklet, or can they just scan it 6 times?
Cathy says
I am pretty sure that the PER COMPUTER is a typo. You will need two of the coupons that she mentioned in that statement. 🙂
Minus two B1G1 Duncan Hines Premium Cake Mix (up to $1.50 value) wyb (2) Frosting or Glazes 4/10/2011 SS Insert (exp 5/30/2011) **will subtract $1.50 per computer

Thanks Cathy! Yup – major typo. Had a long day yesterday and for some reason I thought the word computer meant coupon when I typed up that post… Thanks for helping! 🙂
Addicted to Saving says
MissMary – I fixed the typo 🙂 Also – regarding the Publix coupons, yes, you would need to give 6 actual coupons. Just know that some Publix locations limit the number of exact same coupons that they will accept.

thanks so much for clearing that up for me everyone! I actually thought I might have to go to different registers in order to do transactions at different computers! haha , thats a newb for ya!

I called Duncan Hines to complain about the coupon being b2g1 free but it is not really free since the cake mix is $1.99. They were really nice and sent me some coupons for free product. They said that stores average cost is about $1.20 so they thought the limit was still providing free product.. Interesting. I am now waiting for the next BOGO cycle… Any ideas how often DH goes on BOGO?
