Do you remember going on field trips as a child? Some of my favorite grade school memories involved field trips. Growing up in Connecticut, I remember going to the Mark Twain House, Norman Rockwell’s House, local Nature Centers, etc etc. I loved how field trips gave us practical, hands-on experiences that we could’ve never learned in an actual classroom.
We all know that there are budget cuts going on in our school systems today. In the 2009 report from The American Association of School Administrators, it was estimated that the number of school districts eliminating field trips will increase by 56%. Over 30,000 schools will be affected – that means hundreds of thousands of children will fail to enjoy the tangible benefits of “on-site” learning like we did!
Lunchables Lunch Combinations has created a new initiative called Project Potential. Their goal is to help deserving kids across the country to go on inspiring, educational experiences with the launch of their program Field Trips For All. Project Potential aims to provide enriching experiences that kids might otherwise not have had. Here’s one of my favorite things about Field Trips For All…..they will reward 50 classrooms across the country with an awesome field trip to always remember!
Here’s the best part! We can nominate deserving classrooms of our choice from 1st thru 8th grade! If you want to nominate your child’s classroom, your grandchild’s classroom, your own classroom (if you are a teacher), your friend’s classroom, etc etc you can! Anyone 6 years of age or older can nominate a deserving classroom by going to Field Trips For All and submitting a nomination. I just went online and nominated my neighbor and friend Garret’s first grade teacher Ms. Carman. I have seen and heard about how she is an amazing teacher and I can’t think of a better blessing for her class then to reward them with an all expense paid field trip! Have your kids nominate their classrooms! And, spread the word! This is an awesome promotion and every classroom deserves a nomination!
