This time of year I know that many of you are making purchases on your credit cards. As you do this, it is important to make sure you protect your credit. To do so, you first need to know how your credit is. You must know your credit score so that you can do whatever you can to both protect and improve it. As you shop for holiday gifts and use your credit cards, pay attention to your cards to see which ones give the best rewards. (You might as well earn rewards for shopping right?) Also, pay attention to interest rates on your cards. You should use your cards that have the lowest interest rates. To easily remember which cards have the lowest interest rate, place the lowest interest rate cards in the front of your wallet. The largest interest rate card should be in the back so you don’t accidentally use it. **Side note – cash is king. Ideally, you will not have to use credit cards! But if you need to use cards, make sure you shop wisely as you earn rewards and also have the lowest interest rates. Also – watch your credit and monitor it for identity theft. Protect your credit because this is what will help you get mortgages, loans, refinance and even get you car insurance!
