I received an email from Winn Dixie regarding Fuel Perks and I wanted to post about this in case you were unaware. The email I received said my new Winn Dixie rewards card is being mailed to me. For every $50.00 I spend on qualified purchases at participating Winn Dixie locations, I will earn 5 cents off per gallon of fuel (up to 20 gallons) at Shell and other select gas stations! I do not see any participating gas stations in the Tampa Bay area.
If you’re new to this the first thing to be aware of is to go get gas when you are about on Empty. It’s a little confusing when they say “up to 20 gallons”. ie: If you go to get gas and only get 5 gallons using your card, your Fuel Perks reset to 0 (common misconception is you still have 15 gallons to get with the discount).
Also, it always sounds good to get free or discounted gas, but I have found that items they offer “extra” Fuel Perks on aren’t always worth it and you get more for your money at Publix with sales and coupons (seems like they mark the items up a little but draw you in with the “bonus” Fuel Perks).
The Fuel Perks also expire, so you have to stay on top of that too!
The best way to save and get your fuel bonus is make sure you have a coupon to go with the fuel perks item you’re buying .Look att he “What a Deal” they offer every week and look for coupons for the free items they are giving away, Remember for every 50.00 dollars you spend it gives you a bonus of 10 cents off a gallon. If you have more off per gallon on your fuel perks card that the price of gas per gallan then your card will not wipe clean until you have used the full 20 gallans. Last week I earned 5.70 off per gallon, gas at my station was 4.74 so I paid 38 cents for 20 gallons and have 1.90 off still on my card which I will add to that amount this week. the only time the card will zero out is if you have less than what the price of gas is per gallon and you don’t use all 20 gallons and the card will zero out at the end of the month so make sure you have a zero balance on your card then. If your car does not hold 20 gallons tag team with a family member or friend. Go together one car behind the other, pump what your car will hold, DO NOT HANG THE NOZZLE UP just set it on the ground move your car up and let your other car pull up and use what is left up to the 20 gallons.
I have had my Fuel reward card for over three months now. I actually at one point had $.40 off per gallon! 🙂
On a positive note this worked great for me ’til I found you and found I could save a lot more most of the time at Publix!!!! If your only option in Winn Dixie it works great to add to your overall savings!
The post card I got also says that if you have to request a new card you loose everything from your last card and they will no longer look up your phone # you have to have your card to shop and get discounts. This is a great idea if you shop there and use shell gas.
This is great we had this in PA at Giant Eagle and I could also buy gift cards to earn gas points FINALLY FLORIDA
When I looked online it only said for Jacksonville, Panama City, New Orleans Area, and Greater Miami Customer
This wasn’t available in the Pace Fl area yet. Hopefully soon.
All of the Shell gas stations in Hialeah always tell me the Winn Dixie network is down and I have been unable to use my fuel perks. I even went to try another one and the clerk did not how to use my Winn Dixie card. I had a discount of .65 off per gallon. I had to go to the pump myself and try to use the card and the clerk was upset when I told her my card does work at the pump and she does not do her job properly and got upset and stopped the pump at $20.00 when I wanted to fill up. I lost all of my fuel perks!!! This program sucks. I am so upset because every time I try to use the Winn Dixie Fuel Perks at Shell Gas Station the clerk looks at me and says does not know how to use my card.
I got 55 cents a gal. off my last fill up with my fuel perks. I am now back up to another 55 cents. Life is good!!! My car does not hold 20 gal. so a girl I work with parked on the opposite side of the pump and pumped what was left of my 20 gal. We both saved!!!
My car holds 18 gals, usually when I go, I only need 16-17 gals. I bring an empty gas can with me. That way I get my full 20 gals of dicounted gas, and have some for the lawnmower and can also pour some into my tank.
The problem is, Shell is the HIGHEST-price gas in the nation! So unless you “save” at :LEAST 5 cents [er gallon using FuelPerks, it’s not worth it.
My trick is that I also buy a $50 shell gas card which entitles me to 10c off automatically. I have a truck that can hold over 20 gallons when empty. The last time I fille up with my rewards I only used $35 of the gas card.
