We all know that there are certain products that we rarely have coupons for, but are staples in our home pantries. So what I thought I’d do is provide a price comparison of some of the stores I highlight each week so that you can see for yourselves what these items normally sell for. I’ve included Bread, Milk, Eggs, Cereal, Produce, Beef, and Chicken. *CAVEAT* I’m using prices for the Tampa Bay area, so price may vary depending on exactly where you live. Most of the items are compared across the board with the same brand for consistencies’ sake (with the exception of bread, because Sweetbay had a BOGO on Nature’s Own). The final prices for this week are listed in RED.
What do you all think of this? Would you like to see this every week? Would it change the way you shop for these items or would you stick with the store you currently use no matter what? Are there other items you’d like to see? Please leave your feedback as I would like to make this a weekly post.

Since we’re in the same area, I appreciate this post. I have two .55 off egg coupons and I was trying to figure out the best place to use them.
Latrell says
Jill,
I purchased my eggs at Walgreens @ $1.39 a dozen, use the .55 MQ = $2.23/2 dozen! I always check their eggs prices, they have unadvertise sale for $0.99 a dozen.

Its ok but you chose 3 of the store that are in FL.. Alo’t of people don,t live there. why not do stores like krogers and Meijers which are stores all over..
beckie says
There are no krogers and Meijers in my area of florida…..so they are not all over !!!!
Kim Crosbie says
thanks Beckie!! No Kroger, Meijers here in Florida either!! I am grateful they did a comparison at all!! Cant complain over something someone is doing to HELP people!!
Lisa says
The Albertsons in Tampa is closed.
Judi Harland says
This is awsome! Looks like a lot of work for you, thank you for all the time you put in for all of us.
beckie says
love this new post of the various stores.
Rochelle says
I love the post! What about a final total though?
Becky says
How do you expect her to do stores that aren’t in her area? Thanks Liza, for doing this 🙂
Karen says
Great job!! Anything that will help us figure out price comparison is a great help!
jillian w says
i appreciate you doing only the stores in our area 🙂 (other blogs do the other stores and that means nothing to me- because what you list is all that we have! and i like yours because you don’t confuse me with the good sale with double coupons because we don’t have that either 🙂 that’s why i like your site and your a nice person 🙂 makes it less confusing…… i love this list….. makes me feel good about where i am shopping….. i would like to see a comparison on peanut butter (especially since the price is supposed to increase dramtically!….. and on fruits and veggies because we usually do not get coupons for those 🙂 Thank you for asking

I think this is great! I do shop at more than 1 store (typically Publix, Walmart, & Aldi) because I know which store has typically has the best price on certain staple items. Always wondered how the prices compared at stores I don’t regularly visit and this helps to answer that question! Thank You!
Amy says
Very helpful!! Thank you so much for posting this. I always shop at Publix, Target, and Wal-Mart — And forget to check Winn-Dixie, Albertsons and Sweetbay.

I love this. It makes it so much easier to find the best deal. And I agree with Jillian. I started following you because you are in my neck of woods and the majority of what you post I can participate in. I’ve tried following other blogs and sites, but had a hard time grasping how to coupon because the stores they listed weren’t around me.
Lauren says
I live close by (Polk County) so usually what you post is relevant for my area. By far, Publix is the closest and most convenient store for me. There is a Walmart (CVS and Walgreens are very close but for grocery purposes not worrying about them right now) close by that I will go to for certain items also. If there’s something REALLY great, I could go a little out of my way for Winn Dixie, but the one closest to me almost never has the sale items in stock so I’ve learned to just take the Winn Dixie ad to Walmart and have them pricematch.
I almost never buy meat at Publix, even on sale, because it’s just to expensive! I found a place close by that sold a 40 lb. box of boneless skinless chicken breasts for $54.00….that’s $1.35 a lb!! The one exception is seafood. For awhile I felt like I couldn’t even buy seafood because it was so expensive, but now that I’m couponing and I can get chicken for so cheap, I feel like I can splurge!
Nicole says
where did you get the chix for that price???? Love to know
betty says
Appreciate you finding the time to put this together for us. It’s an EYE OPENER!
Dawn says
Liza = This is awesome! I have always kind of wondered about using some of my coupons at Walmart, but never really have. This was kind of an eye opener (bread).
This is good information, becuase it looks like maybe on some items we don’t have to wait for BOGO, because the single item price at Walmart might come close.
I tend to agree with the posts that would like to keep the stores florida related, because that is where you live, and there are other sites that do the stores for where they are closer too. I know that sounds selfish, but it does make it easier for us around here to use it.
Your site is awesome, I have saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars since using it, and am using better name brands! thanks – dawn

You are the best Liza!!! I have yet to find a site that does something like this, and always something I wanted to see! Thank you thank you thank you!

I have decided to become “loyal to the sale” rather than “loyal to the store”. Even though, Publix is still my first go-to, because of inconsistent coupon policies and some difficult cashiers, I now am not tied to them any more. Yesterday, I went to Winn-Dixie and they were falling all over themselves to provide good customer service. Maybe this is one good thing to come from these new coupon policies. So, please give us the stores with the best prices. That’s where I’ll go!

I love this post!

I love it! Thank you so much! It is great to have this! I live in So Cal so always price shopping the best deal!!
George-Ann says
Thanks for the info, even tho not all stores are in my area; I appreciate the comparisons for the ones that are. I think I will change stores because I know where I shop now are always more expensive than what you have shown here. Keep it up please. I will follow this weekly!! Thanks again.
Kathy says
I LOVE this! It is helpful even though prices in different areas may vary. I bought the 85% lean ground beef at my Sweet Bay today, but it was more than your quoted price. It was $3.79/lb at Sweet Bay which is still cheaper than Publix. But, what I LOVE about Sweet Bay is that there are usually packages of ground beef with $1 off coupons on the package because the expiration date is getting close. I was able to buy the 85% lean ground beef for $2.94/lb with a package that had the $1 off! That is the best price for that type of beef. This is the only way I will buy ground beef. Target usually has discounted meat as well.

Wonderful post!
I am a recent follower of your site BECAUSE you post ad deals/matchups for the stores in the Tampa Bay area, since we just moved to Lakeland from Virginia. Its nice to actually read a blog that highlights the deals that we actually have here in Florida, instead of deals for stores that arent even here.
Keep up the good work, and have a blessed day!

Liza, love the visual. provides easier scanning process. Thank you for all that you do.

I absolutely love this!! It has been something that I have been thinking of for some time that would make things alot easier for me. THANK YOU!!
I dont know if you want to add this or not, but for Milk, Save A Lot has gallon size milk ALL THE TIME at $3.29. I have not found it any cheaper any where else.
Thank you for all you do with this website. As a working mom, I could not save what I do without it. 🙂 Thanks!!

Hi Liza,
Great idea! If possible I’d like to see Costco or other warehouse stores on the list. We buy our meat and chicken from Costco because of price and quality. I never have to trim the chicken breast!
