You may remember last month we posted that Publix was changing their coupon policy effective today (10/1/14). Publix has officially unveiled their new policy and they have it up on their website HERE. If I were you, I would print it out and read through it to insure that you know the policy.
Below are the changes that are standing out to me. Go HERE to see the complete, official Publix coupon policy:
We only accept coupons for identical items we sell.
For a buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate purchase. **this is not a new policy. I did want to highlight it though because this insures that we can use two coupons when we purchase two items on sale BOGO
We limit coupon redemption to eight of the same coupons per day, per household. **this won’t affect most of you – but if you do make large purchases (with 9 or more of the same coupon), you will now only be able to use 8 coupons.
Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor’s coupon per day, per household. The total order before coupons must be equal to or greater than the combined purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented. We consider competitor’s coupons for dollars off groups of items to be a dollars-off-total-order coupon and will only allow one per day, per household.
**this policy is good in that it does not require us to reach the value of the coupon AFTER coupons. In other words, if you have $30 worth of groceries and a $5/$30 coupon, you can use your coupon along with all of your other coupons.
**”We consider competitor’s coupons for dollars off groups of items to be a dollars-off-total-order coupon” This means that if you have a $5 off $20 Baby Items Target Store coupon, you can not use this in conjunction with a $5 off $30 Winn-Dixie coupon.
We will not issue rain checks for Publix, competitor’s, or manufacturer’s coupons. **this is a bit vague to me, but I read this to say that if you get a rain check on a sale that requires a Publix coupon that expires soon, Publix will not accept the Publix coupon on the rain checked item if it has expired.

I just checked the FAQ’s on Publix’s website regarding the new coupon policy and this is an exact quote:
“Will Publix accept a competitor’s coupon for a private label item?
Yes. We’re happy to accept a coupon for a competitor’s private label product because it’s a chance to introduce you to our terrific Publix brand.”
The new rule is a bit ambiguous but really doesn’t seem to change anything. Worth checking out,

Yes Salli, I agree. I’m going with the “Yes” part of that answer for sure! 🙂

In the FAQ sections I found:
“I have a rain check and a coupon for an item, but the coupon is now expired, though it was valid on the date the rain check was issued. Can I still use the coupon on the item?”
Yes, Publix will accept the coupon that was valid on the date the rain check was issued.

I tried to use 2 of the winn dixie $5/$50, and the cashier told me I could only use 1 on my order of $105.00

Nordia, I don’t think this is a new rule. I’ve tried to do that before and it didn’t fly. I wanted to use two of the W/D $5/$30 coupons on a transaction over $60 and was told they would have had to be two separate transactions. I never made THAT mistake again! If I have to break it up into three transactions, I do! 🙂

Hey Susie,
I never had this problem before, I tried breaking up the transaction also, and they told me only 1 $5/$50 per day….I didn’t have anyone with me to do the second transaction…now I know, I’ll definitely have to plan to go with someone if ‘m buying alot of stuff….

It depends if you use it after the 18 of October then no the coupon if expired will not be accepted because that I when the policy goes into effect customers are given from the 1 to the 18 to get use to the new policy, they will no longer let us except expired coupons for any reason.
