Well, as you all know, this week’s Publix ad is a bit sparse with deals. I am really disappointed by it. I probably would have skipped shopping entirely but I know many of you are used to reading my Photo Show and Tells so I forced myself to go. And then I spent more than I would have wanted to on what seemed like not many groceries. I did buy some necessities such as eggs, milk and bread. And I thought I was taking advantage of the Flatout Wraps deal (we love Flatout Wraps) UNTIL I realized that I totally bought the wrong kind! Please do not make the same mistake I did. If you look at my wraps in the picture above, note that that kind IS NOT on sale. UGH. Such a bummer. No wonder I spent a little more out of pocket than I expected.
How did you do this week shopping? I hope you were able to spend less and save more than I did! 🙂 Please leave a comment letting us know how you did!

You did great. It isn’t always a crazy good week. AND YOU GOT CARAMELS! That alone makes the trip worth it. If they were in my house, the trick or treaters would never know!
Addicted to Saving says
Silvia – I have already opened one bag of caramels!! They are SO good – nice and soft! The other three bags will be stashed away and I’ll bake with them for the next few months. 🙂 The bags of Halloween candy will not be opened until 10/31/11. Otherwise, my husband and I will eat all of that candy as well! 🙂

U did great! Its like I always say…we save so much that sometimes its ok to spend a bit more (but not to much) …. LOL

I recently learned that when you return food items, the store will not re-sell the product for safety reasons. Even if the product is un-opened. They simply write the item off as waste and throw it away. It makes sense when you think about it since they can’t be 100% sure that the product wasn’t tampered with somehow.
Even though it makes sense, it still seems like a terrible waste to me, so I’m glad I know this now because if I ever buy the wrong item again I’m just going to eat it – literally and figuratively!
Addicted to Saving says
Hi Jennie! I’m with you and agree! Tonight’s dinner is grilled chicken wraps so you know what I decided to do with my wraps! 🙂

I am so happy to know that. I was thinking it would be beyond weird to bring home food that was in someone else’s house!

You did great! All I got was soup this week at Publix.

You did great!
I grabbed 6 bags of dog food (Kibbles n Bits), 8 Campbell’s Harvest soups, 6 cans of Hunt’s diced tomatoes, stop light peppers (on sale for $3.99, we put them in everything!), 2 simply potatoes spicy hash browns, and 4 zatarain’s rices mixes. I accidentally bought 12 Del Monte tomatoes thinking they were Hunt’s, so had to return them before leaving the store. (Didn’t know until I read on here they were supposed to trash them? I am not sure how accurate this is, because I watched the lady put them into her re-stock cart and give to a bagger to re-shelf???) With coupons, my total ended up being a little over $11. My husband was stoked b/c everything that we bought this week were his favorites, including dog food ’cause usually he shells out a large amount of $ on huge bags!
Plus, I got a raincheck for 4 more bags of dog food to use later this week. Still waiting on Airwick candles & Olay Regenerist to re-stock at my store. Thanks for all you do, you’ve really helped me and my family save a lot of money in these rough times.
Lisa says
If you return them before you leave the store, they will restock them. It’s if you’ve taken them home and then returned them that they trash the product. Once you’ve taken it from the store they don’t know if you’ve, for example: left them in a hot car, had them on the floor of your home with your pets sniffing through the bags, etc. 🙂

Those caramels are calling my name! I think it’s a lousy week too, but may have to figure out how to spend $30 to use a $5/$30 coupon and get some of those caramels! I did stop into Greenwise this morning for organic grapes @ $1.69/lb and organic Gala apples for $1.29/lb. but that’s all I bought. (They don’t take Winn Dixie coupons there.)

I struggled to get a list together… I usually go shopping on thursday (and i watch your post on friday and if I see something really good, I will go back out and usually get a raincheck because its all gone 🙂 ) but this week I had no idea what would be good, so I waited patiently for show and tell and many other sites show and tells to put together some sort of list 🙂 I did it! It was rough, usually it’s not hard to get to $30 this week it was just pulling teeth.. anywayz! I decided by what I seen it was going to be donations to the SPCA week (because our lovely yorkie gets “special food”)…… so here it goes
2 bags kibbles and bits ($2)
3 crave cat treats (free coupons)
*raincheck* 2 air wick candles (- 1.02)
2 flat out bread bags (1.89)
2 bags of kraft caramels (2.69)
2 publix 1 lb of cheese (7.98)
tax= 1.41
(minus one $5 off 30 winn dixie coupon)= ending oop 9.94
publix savings 36.24 ………. I am happy we needed to replenish our extra sharp cheddar cheese and the SPCA will be happy 🙂
Thank you for your show and tell it really helps
oh and ps don’t feel so bad about the flat out the stuff you grabbed was right there…. if you hadn’t of showed me i would have probably would have grabbed that too…. but i probably would have said WHOA there why is that not b1g1 free… lol and then i would have held the line up LOL…..

Nice Publix trip this week! Thanks for the link up!

You know, I have been feeling the same way about publix, but I actually thought it was just me. Ever since the “new coupon policy” started…the sales have not been the same. I used to look forward to seeing the new ad on Mondays – but not lately! It’s often times sad! Last week, was a pretty good wk but not because of the ad but because of the candles and other little deals…the covergirl coupon/olay made some awesome deals…other than that – It was dissapointing! Thank you for showing us what we can at least get every week with the show and tell. Speaking for myself – I enjoy it very much and I appreciate the time you put into it. Thanks!!
