I had a great Publix shopping trip yesterday! My schedule today is crazy so I wanted to get my shopping out of the way today. It was a great trip. I had numerous free coupons I had received in the mail that were expiring 10/31 so I used many of them. I also took full advantage of the Hefty One Zip deal. $0.70 per box of Hefty One Zip freezer bags is an awesome price! I can’t say that this week’s sales are outstanding but it was an awesome stockpile week for Hefty Bags and for Caribou Coffee (especially if you have the $2/1 coupon). And, a special thanks to my Orlando friend who sent me a $2/1 Caribou coffee coupon to use this week 😉 I also was able to score numerous FREE Oral-B toothbrushes! Please note that I used four $2/1 coupons as well as two $1/1 Publix and two $1/1 manufacturer coupons. If you use the $2/1 coupons listed below, note that they limit, “four coupons per transaction”.
How did you do this week shopping? I hope you were able to spend less and save more than I did! Please leave a comment letting everyone know how you did!

I got my Grands! breakfast biscuits yesterday, and bought 10 boxes, paid a little over $3.00 for them, but I am doing my big shopping today. If your Publix uses Save A Lot or Albertson’s coupons, they both have $5.00 off $25.00 on their websites. I am doing 4 transactions today so I will already have $20.00 off my orders. Wish i had the hefty coupons, but I didn’t start couponing until Sept. I have eight 2.00/1 off the caribou and we go through sooo much coffee. Just bought a cart couponing organizer off Etsy today to make my trips easier, can’t wait to get it!
Clare says
Nice job… Have you tried the Caribou yet? I’ve never had before, but I have the $2 coupons…
Addicted to Saving says
Hi Clare! I have tried Caribou! My husband and I went to college in a suburb of Chicago and Caribou coffee shops were almost as prevalent (spelling?) as Starbucks. 🙂 In my opinion, Caribou is stronger than Dunkin Donuts coffee and yet not as strong as Publix. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Very nice Publix trip! Thanks so much for the link up!

Question- What is the rule for using a Publix $/$ and a Competitor $/$. I know you can use one of each per transaction but lets say the Publix one is $5/30 and the comp is $5/$30 would you have to get $30 or $60 to use both?
Great trip this week!
Addicted to Saving says
Great question Melissa! Most stores will make you purchase $60 (before coupons are added in) to be able to use both $x/xx coupons.
Lisa says
Hi,
I have a quick question about the $/$ coupons. I have used these at Winn Dixie (before I really got into couponing). Do you have to ensure that you hand these to the cashier first? Otherwise will the system use the after-coupon total? I think I got caught with that before. Also, I know I’ve handed the cashier my coupons with the
$/$ coupon on top and they went ahead and scanned the regular coupons first. I wondered if that was deliberate…
Addicted to Saving says
Hi Lisa! When I give my $/$$ coupons, I always put them on the top of my stack of coupons – and then I tell the cashier I am using a $/$$ coupon so that they know to make sure I reach the amount required before using my other coupons. If you see that cashiers are using other coupons first, I would probably say something like, “you might want to make sure I reach $30.00 (or whatever) before using my other coupons since I’m using a $/$$ coupon”… Let me know if that helps!
Lisa says
Thanks so much. I’m going to give it a try sometime next week since I just bought two Enjoy the City mags from a fundraiser and they have a couple of those $/$$ Qs.

On the Crest toothpaste sale: I did not find that the P&G coupon matched up with the Crest that was on sale for $2. The P&G coupon EXCLUDED, the baking soda, Crest Cavity and Tarter toothpastes, it was only those in my Publix that were on sale for $2. So, I used the coupon on the Crest Complete Toothpaste which was included on the P&G coupon, but it was not on sale for $2. It was marked at $2.47. Still used the Publix coupon to stack on it though. Still a good deal.
Can you tell me which Crest toothpaste you bought? I cannot make it out in the pic.
I did work out the Oral B toothbrushes and got 5 of the toothbrushes for free! Yay!
Addicted to Saving says
Hi Kathy! I bought the Crest with whitening. You are correct – the $2.00/1 Crest coupon DOES NOT cover the toothpaste on sale. That is why I used the $1.00/1 manufacturer coupon and the $1.00/1 store coupon. My Photo Show and Tell shows the coupons I used 🙂 Let me know if you have further questions!
Kathy says
Liza, I did use the $1/1 mfg. coupon (from P&G) and stacked with the $1/1 Publix store coupon. I guess I wasn’t clear on that. But it was that $1/1 mfg that stated it excluded the Crest with baking soda, tartar and also the Crest Cavity (which I think is the plain white paste). The ones that were the Crest Whitening from what I saw also had baking soda or tartar control in it. This is why I thought I couldn’t use this $1/1 mfg. coupon with those and purchased the Crest Complete instead.
Did I interpret the coupon wrong? Or maybe I missed that there was Crest with whitening that didn’t have the baking soda or Tartar control. I’m not sure but there were some empty shelves, too. I just was spending too much time trying to get the correct toothpaste that I decided it was better to go with the Crest Complete.
Kathy says
Liza, I’m still confused then.
I wasn’t clear…but I used the $1/1 mfg coupons from the P&G insert as you stated in your Show and Tell. and I used the Publix $1/1 store coupon as you did. It was the $1/1 mfg. coupon from P&G that I’m referring to (that you used and I used) that didn’t match up to the Crest on sale for $2. Well, at least in my store. The $1/1 mfg coupon from P&G stated it excluded the baking soda, Crest Cavity and Tarter toothpastes. Even though some of the Crest said “whitening”, they were either the Tarter (with whitening) or baking soda with whitening. So, I assumed the $1/1 mfg. coupon was not valid for it. I even went over the coupon with a sales clerk while I was looking at the different toothpastes. Maybe I missed another Crest that was on sale for $2 that wasn’t on the shelve. There was some empty spaces.
Addicted to Saving says
Kathy – it will be up to your store’s disgression as to whether they will accept the $1/1 coupon on the paste. My store said that since I purchased the Baking Soda & Peroxide with Whitening and since the coupon did not exclude that particular type of paste, I was fine to use it. Ask customer service prior to purchasing and they will let you know whether you can do the transaction or not.
Kathy says
Thanks Liza! I should have gone to Customer Service. I was just overwhelmed by looking through all the toothpastes and toothbrushes to get the deals. The toothbrushes weren’t even marked in my store to know which were on sale and had to get a price scan on those to make sure. In the end, I still did well, but just not free on the toothpaste.
Kathy says
Sorry I posted this again, because I didn’t see my other reply come up and thought it was lost…

Hey where do all the free mailers come from and what are they? does that have to do with emailing for coupons and if so how would i go about doing that? thanks
