I had a great day at Publix today. Do any of you view shopping as a game? I’ve gotten to the point where there is very little I need. So, every week I focus on the best sales and I focus on maximizing my coupons. Today I had a $10.00 off of $50.00 Winn Dixie coupon to use. Since the Publix I shop at accepts Winn Dixie coupons, my goal for today’s shopping trip was to spend as close to $50.00 before using coupons. My hope was to get my total (after coupons) under $10. That was a difficult challenge because there aren’t a ton of great deals this week at Publix and because my Publix is always out of the Schick Hydro Razors which are free if you use the correct coupons. And, I know that those of you who are new Addicted to Saving readers are looking at my picture above asking “where’s the meat?” I stock up on meat when it is on sale and then I freeze it. For proof that I do buy meat, go HERE 🙂 I did have a great time today – I spent $7.89 (including tax) on $82.78 worth of groceries 🙂
The items I purchased today coincide with this week’s Publix Weekly ad. To see this week’s ad & coupon matchups, go HERE.

Thanks for all you do. My publix rarely has these booklets i.e. shrektacular savings how can I get these?
Liza says
Hi Crystal! I just added the picture of the booklet to the original post I made about the Shrektacular Saving booklet. Look at the picture so you know what to look for. (go HERE) And, regarding how to find them, many Publix locations will keep booklets by their weekly ads so check there. If they are not there, as you walk through the store, keep your eyes peeled because oftentimes booklets are in stands located throughout the stores. Lastly, some Publix locations keep booklets at the customer service desks so you can always ask if they have the booklet.. Good luck finding it! 🙂
Liza says
Hi Crystal! I have a reader who emailed me with Shrek coupons she would like to share with you. Can I give her your email address?
Kim says
I did the same thing with the Chips Ahoy cookies, but got 4 free because I used a Target buy 3 get 1 free Nabisco cookie coupon and $1 TG Lee milk! Awesome!
Liza says
Nice job Kim! My local Publix doesn’t accept Target coupons so I couldn’t use it 🙁 I almost drove to the Publix that does accept the coupons but I didn’t have enough time to do it today. Lucky you!!

Awesome job!!!
Sandra J says
Yep, I use it as a game too.
I will each time.

I need to get rid of my first job to make this my only job…I never feel that I have enough time to really give couponing a chance to really work this way….
Liza says
Amanda – you can do what I do too! This website has turned into a 50 hr/wk job for me and yet it takes me about an hour to prepare for each shopping trip (cutting coupons, making a list, etc). You can do it! Babysteps. As you get more familiar with couponing and saving money, it will take less time for you to do this – I promise!
Melanie says
Liza, please do not stop doing these! I look for these every week. I am so ADDICTED to saving!!! Thanks for all your hard work.
Liza says
Thanks Melanie! Don’t worry, I will never stop 🙂 Thanks for being ADDICTED 🙂

Wow! That’s awesome.
Could you tell me how the Winn Dixie coupon works at Publix?
Few weeks ago, my Publix said that $50 total should be after all the other coupons, then I can use the $10 off Winn Dixie coupon. I thought they used to take it before coupons ????
Thank you.
Liza says
Hi Tomoko! The policy at my Publix is that I can use the coupon if I reach $50 before coupons. When I have a $10/$50, if I at a new cashier that I don’t know, I will give my coupons last after they have scanned everything. That way, they can see that I hit $50 before using any coupons. Every Publix is subject to the store manager’s rules so sadly, it sounds like your Publix is more strict than mine when it comes to using $10/$50 coupons..
Tomoko says
Thank you Liza. My Publix (Lake county,FL) is getting more and more strict…Very sad. Well, I still love to shop at Publix though. I just found your site from Southernsavers and show and tell is awesome!! Can’t wait to see your next one.

Hey I am a different Chrystal, the brownies at my pubix is $2.89 b4 b1g1 so not as great of a deal. I guess prices sometimes vary from State to State (bummer). I really wanted to stock up on brownie mixes for the summer. I love your site and especially the show and tell! Keep doing what you do.
