This week was one of those weeks where I had a very intense love/hate relationship with Walgreens. Walgreens can be maddening. Each store has different coupon policies depending on management. I went to 5 different Walgreens stores (all w/in a 10 mile radius) on Monday and each store had different policies – some accepted B1G1 coupons w/ a B1G1 sale, others did not. Then, today, my husband stepped in a saved the day and used the remainder of my B1G1 Purex coupons. I feel so blessed that I now have enough detergent to last me at least 2 years. And, in the end, I can safely say that Walgreens that is again on my good side.
If you are wondering why I have so much Purex, this week Walgreens has Purex 50 oz, 32 load on sale B1G1 (they are usually $5.99 each). I originally posted about the deal Here. There is a B1G1 Purex manufacturer coupon in 2/21/10 RP (Feb 21st’s Red Plum insert). If you use one B1G1 coupon with a B1G1 sale, you will get both items free. (Side note – not all Walgreens accept B1G1 coupons with B1G1 sales.)
Since I was able to find enough Walgreens stores to accept my coupons, I was able to get 20 Purex bottles for free. I only had to pay tax. I spent $4.80 total on all of the bottles above and I saved $119.80. It is not too late for you to do this deal. It takes some work, perserverance and driving, but you should be able to get free Purex too.

OK! All I can say to that is WOW! I have my 3 coupons and am going to try my luck at it tomorrow! Is there anything that you said that helped to “convince” them that this is a legit deal…if they give me trouble 🙂
Hi Erniemluv and Tricia – The first Walgreens I went to on Monday, I asked for the manager before even filling my basket. He allowed me to use the B1G1 coupons but gave me a limit of 6 bottles. I didn’t ask to speak to any of the other four Walgreens I went to on Monday. My husband picked up today’s bottles and he just went right up to the register. Oddly enough, the cashier made him purchase two bottles per transaction which was fine. I have also heard many people say that they were required to pay for one bottle and then they got 3 bottles free.
Walgreens is tricky b/c their lack of consistency. Let me know how it goes!!!!
Yeah, did you ask about their policy first (and if so, who?) or just go up to the register with detergent and coupons and see what happened?
i got 2 more at the walgreens by the mall! no hassles, and the lady was super nice!
I went to buy A bottle of purex and they were completely SOLD OUT. this is my favorite scent of laundry soap and they want 3.79 at Dillons ….I was bummed that someone got to it before me….and bought them ALL
Which Walgreen in Tampa would do it? I’m in Trinity just north of Tampa and they won’t do the deal 🙁
Hi Brianne! I’m actually a tad north of Trinity so I’m in your “neck of the woods”. I’m not sure which Walgreens my husband went to on Thursday but he said it was by The Eagles in Oldsmar? The two Walgreens that allowed me to use the coupons were a bit north of you off of Little Road. If you email me I will give you specifics 🙂
I GOT 6 BOTTLES TODAY!!!! I am so excited! I bought them at the photo register and I got no resistance! It was the 2nd store that I went to b/c the first one was sold out…but I went to the 2nd store…bought 6 bottles and spent $1.08! What a blessing! I’m officially ADDICTED TO SAVING!

okay unfortunatly I live about 25 miles from the closest walgreens and I’ve been trying out these deals, On monday when I went the manager told me that I couldn’t, that I would have to pay for the first then get 2 free. (not going to happen!) then on thursday when I went back in that same walgreens the cashier told me that they just talked about this and yes I could get both free, well by thursday they only had 2 bottles left!! I wish walgreens could be a little more consistant, so I didn’t have to make so many trips.. They always make me feel like I’m doing something sneeky!
Hi there, I had a huge problem @ the walgreens close to my house (miami, fl). So I wen to another one abt 5 miles out and I had no problems. I got them all free. But I will be calling coorporate as the manager giave me some BS and they always give me a hard time there.

I went to my Walgreens today and they had a fully stocked front end cap of the B1G1 Purex! I was able to get eight bottles and only paid $1.8X for them. Great deal! Thanks for posting this!
