We had a much quieter week this week than last. Last week was busy with Asher’s birthday and then weekend plans. So this week was all about getting back into a routine (i.e. getting Asher’s sleeping schedule back on track). Earlier in the week the weather tempted us with cooler weather. I was excited to feel “fall-like” weather but now the hot temps are back. I am definitely looking forward to when the weather cools and we can open our windows!
This week’s shopping trip was not a big one, but we bought enough items to spend almost $40.00. When I started couponing in early 2009, I would very easily go shopping and spend $3.00 or $4.00. In fact, in 2010, I spent under $1,000 on groceries the entire year. Now, however, I just can’t get my numbers that low. I have to buy milk and yogurt for Asher, we need fresh produce (although we have joined a coop so I don’t have to buy much each week) and simple things like batteries are a necessity when you have toys for your toddler. In 2009 and 2010, I focused primarily on the sales – the really good sales. I didn’t buy much more than that. Looking back, my purchases just weren’t the most realistic. We gave away a ton of groceries each month, but we still didn’t need as much as we were buying. So now, I definitely take advantage of the deals to be had, but I don’t buy as much. And I even buy *gasp* groceries that are not on sale and that don’t have a coupon.
Please remember that you do not see any chicken or ground beef purchased because we have stocked up on boneless, skinless chicken breasts and ground beef with Zaycon Foods. **Right now Zaycon Foods is taking reservations for their upcoming Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast Events and Lean Ground Beef Events!
