We are on week three of living off our stockpile! It has been interesting. Because I’m still grocery shopping (albeit much less), we are still spending money on groceries. But we have been spending much less. For the third week in a row, our grocery spending has been between $34 and $38. Not bad considering prior to this venture, we were spending around $50/week at the grocery store plus $55 bi-weekly for our organic coop. In addition to the $34-$38, we do spend money on eggs, milk, and produce. I stopped the veggie coop we belonged to because I was finding that we were wasting some of the produce. So now we are buying just what we need. I found a local farmstand that sells organic, free range eggs for $4.99 (20 eggs!) and they also have great produce prices. I’m going to head there this weekend to check them out. I would much rather stop there twice a week for fresh produce than have my coop produce go bad. That said, I did love getting our coop bounties. We’re just in a stage of life right now where things are really hectic. And sometimes I’m in survival mode. So eating as healthy as we should is sometimes put on the wayside. I keep telling myself this is just a stage of life? It is… right? 🙂
So don’t forget! Because I’m living off my stockpile, my Photo Show & Tell will have two parts now. The first part will be the BEST deals that I would take advantage of if I had a need for them. The second part will show the exactly items I purchased and the coupons I used. So if you usually follow my lead and buy what I buy, I would recommend you pay attention to the scenario I concocted for you with the best deals. That is what I would buy if my freezer wasn’t overflowing and if my cabinets weren’t full.
How did you do this week?
Please remember that you do not see any chicken or ground beef purchased because we have stocked up on boneless, skinless chicken breasts and ground beef with Zaycon Foods. **Right now Zaycon Foods is taking reservations for their upcoming Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, Bacon, Sausage links, Chuck Roast, Patio Steaks, Pulled Pork and more Events! You also do not see much produce as we belong to a coop and every other week get a delivery of organic fruits and veggies.
