It is a great week to go grocery shopping at Publix! As I put together my grocery shopping list, I knew it was going to be a good one. Lots of stockpile priced deals! It was interesting to see that I ended up using a lot of insert coupons. It seems like lately I have been using mostly printable coupons. But today was different! Guess I will keep buying my Sunday papers! 🙂
**As a side note – there has been some discussion on Addicted to Saving’s Facebook page regarding the fact that I purchased a lot of processed food today. I did. I bought 6 boxes of cereal, 1 box of Pop-Tarts, 4 Chef Boyardee and some more. As a reminder, I don’t purchase produce because every week I get an overflowing fruit & veggie bin from my local coop. Also, as a reminder, we give away approximately 50% of our groceries each week. When I went gluten-free, we made a conscious decision to continue taking advantage of all of the rock-bottom deals available with the intent of paying them forward or saving a box or two here or there for hubby. 😉

Publix, Lake Gibson, Lakeland would not let me use a 5.00 off coupon (GFS) with purchase of $50.00 and use the coupon for $10.00 off of $50.00 gas coupon. My grocery total was 56.00 plus the 50.00 gas card. They told me I would have to spend $100.00 total on groceries. I was upset. The cashier told me this was a new policy.
Hi Pam – The Publix policy has always been that you can use one store and one competitor $x/$xx off coupon as long as your total purchase price equaled the total of the two dollar off coupons. They never really addressed how they would accept the gas coupon but it does make sense that they will accept it like a Publix dollar off coupon. 🙁 I haven’t heard this from many readers as of yet. Thank you for the head’s up on this.
Same thing happened to me. Groceries were over $60 plus $50 gas card. Unable to use either Publix or Winn-Dixie $5 off coupon.
I have to disagree. The gas card publix q is not a dollars off dollars cpn. It is a dollars off of a GAS CARD which is a product just like everything other item in the store. If the gas card cpn read “Get $10 off $50 in groceries if you purchase a gas card” then I could understand. Pam spent $106. Even after applying the $5 off cpn, she was still spending the required amount for the gas card.
I had the same situation at Publix in Crystal Beach. i I tried to use $5 of $40 and purchase a $50 gas card. I spent $70 and I was told my total would need to be $90 in order to be allowed to use the $5 of $40 coupon. 🙁
