That is awesome..I went to publix today and they had the eggo’s b1g1 and then had a blinky for $1 off two. 2 boxes were $1.29.. I sent my kids (8 and 12)on a trip around the store to get 2 blinkies from everyone they found. It will be our new shopping game 🙂 I am trying to build my stash 🙂

I did the same thing with my daughter! 🙂

when 1 person takes the whole stock of a sale item then NO one else can benefit. i find this VERY unfair
Liza says
Hi JJ – that is a very good point. That said, a lot of these readers did more than one transaction and I lumped the spending & saving into one so as to avoid writing a novel. I agree 100% with what you are saying but also want to defend the readers that did make more than one trip to buy everything. 🙂

Hi, I usually shop the first and last day of the sale. I buy a little on the first day and go back late in the evening on the last day and buy what’s left. If I have alot of coupons and there is still enough product left, I don’t feel bad buying all I can, after all, I waited till the last minute. The store is being set for the new sale while I shop and that sometimes means products have moved. But hey, At least I gave everyone else a chance to participate in the sale before I cleaned up!. That is totally fair!

I run into that same problem a lot with the Publix I shop at (it’s on a MAJOR road and is always busy). I’ve started finding other Publix stores nearby that are less busy or I’ve started getting rain checks on sale items when they are out. Plus, check other parts of the store for the item you are looking for. For instance with the Schick Razors, I have had to find them on the little displays by the registers and I’ve found them stuffed into a teeny tiny little section between two completely non-related items. But rain checks have definitely been a sanity saver for me! That way I have 30 days to purchase the items and everyone else is done with them because they aren’t on sale any more.
Michelle says
While I understand the frustration, part of the problem is that sometimes the stores were not fully stocked to begin with. This is VERY common for the Publix closest to me. Most shelves only hold so many of a sale item anyway. Think of how many you were going to get & figure out how many people could be served at the same quantity. At some point, the shelves need to be refilled. Ask the stocker to check in the back for more.
Also, most of the people who clear the shelves, are just not thinking. You can try saying something to a shopper if you see them loading their carts with the same item. I have a personal limit of 12 for any item per trip. And I will not take 12 if the shelf is running low. In the last few months I have only twice gotten my full 12. However, I WANT to clear the shelf & be done with my shopping in one trip. We all do.
Go to the front counter & ask for a few small quantity rain checks. If your coupons is about to expire, they will staple the coupons to the rain check & make a note of it on the actual rain check. AND! when the shelves are restocked, you’ll have a full variety of all the flavors that are available & you have extra time to budget for any extras that you wanted!
