I was given a pair of tickets to see Radio City Christmas Spectacular Featuring The Rockettes at Straz Theatre in Tampa in exchange for writing a review. I wasn’t able to go, but my friend and helper Bree was able to go! As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% our own!
It is not everyday that you have the opportunity to go see The Rockettes. In fact, usually that chance only happens when you are in New York City. How lucky for Tampa Bay residents that The Rockettes are performing at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Straz center until December 29th.
I was fortunate enough to attend this entertaining holiday show last Thursday. The show starts with a magical sleighride through the Northern Forest. The cheers rang out as the reindeer are actually the high kicking Rockettes! I cannot even say that I had a favorite scene. I am sure my jaw was on the floor as I watched the Parade of Wooden Soldiers. The precision of The Rockettes and the small, intricate movements that they performed to stay in a straight line and together during this scene was amazing. I also loved the New York at Christmas scene. A double decker bus sits in the center of the stage and behind it is a huge screen with scenes of New York City. The Rockettes dance on the second story of the bus and you also are given a glimpse into how The Rockettes started and their history. The special effects, costumes and choreography were incredible. Towards the end of the show, there was a scene titled “The Living Nativity.” The pageantry and story telling in this scene was so beautiful and inspiring.
There was another huge point of excitement. The big guy himself, Santa Claus was there. He makes appearances throughout the show, so if you have little ones this is an added bonus. This show is so full of excitement, funny characters, dancing, singing, beautiful costumes that there is something for everyone. From little children to grandparents, it is a family friendly show that will make for long lasting family memories!
