Teresa emailed me this picture yesterday of her Publix shopping trip on Thursday. She started couponing just four months ago. She is a stay at home mom of four little ones. Her goal? Getting her monthly grocery bill and eating out for her family of six to $350 a month. And she’s doing it! Very impressive Teresa! Thanks for sharing your success.
**Disclaimer**
1) Teresa’s Publix allows her to use more than one of the same Publix store coupon and/or competitor coupon as long as she uses one store or competitor coupon per item. Not all Publix locations allow this. You should ask customer service if they allow this before loading up your cart.
2) Not all Publix locations allow overage. If your Publix does not allow overage, they will usually adjust the value of the coupon down so that you receive the item for free.

KATHRYN WISE says
how can I get that publix mailed coupon??
Addicted to Saving says
They mail different coupons to different areas. I didn’t get that one in my area either! The $10 when you spend $50 Publix coupon was on the front page of the circular mailed out in some areas of Tampa. You may want to ask your Publix. There may be a way to request it. – Kelly
Natalia says
I called Publix Corporate office and asked to be on their mailing list but they sent me a letter stating they can add me to their circular mailing list but not the BOGO add that sometimes features the $10 off $50 coupon. The letter stated that the coupon is sent to select markets only that change from time to time.
Colleen says
Way to go, Theresa!! Way to shop smart and provide for your
family!! 🙂
Bri says
I wish I could do that good! But my 2.5 year old requires a lot of string cheese which is EXPENSIVE.
Lisa says
No wonder the Airwick was sold out.
cindy says
Thats exactly what I was thinking lisa!!! lol
Holly says
No kidding 😉
Kayla says
agreed!
Michelle says
Agreed

I am all for getting the most for your money, but it seems a bit unfair that this woman purchased 8 of one item with 8 identical coupons. Are we to believe that she buys 8 papers every Sunday? And it is so frustrating when I shop for a great deal Liza has listed, only to find a “coupon lady” came in and bought the entire store inventory when the store opened that morning. This has happened more than once! Who needs that many air fresheners?
Bri says
Publix will give you a raincheck. You can use your raincheck when the item comes back in for the sale price, use your coupons and get a good deal.
Teresa says
I understand your concern but actually our publix stocked so well on this deal that they had an entire front, both sides of the end shelves, packed with these and also in the aisle itself. So i did not wipe out the store from its inventory nor was I there when the doors opened, I shopped at 9 pm at night after I got my 4 kids to bed.
Yes, I would believe that a person has 8 newspapers (I want to think the best of people), ACTUALLY I purchase 14 subscriptions to the newspapers for my family of 6, that I have delivered to my house so that I dont wipe out the bins at the stands. We should be careful with the criticism when we start treating people as objects and not people (objects-no feelings, people- feelings) but thank you for your concern.
Colleen says
Very well said, Theresa!!
I buy 6-8 newspapers each week in order to feed our family of 5!!! (growing kids = growing grocery bill!!) I’m glad to know you subscribe to home delivery newspaper…would you mind sharing your thoughts on this, such as which one and is it cheaper than buying at the store (it definitely is more conveniet!!)? Do you get all the inserts (some weeks the St. Pete Times is missing inserts)?
Keep up the good work!!!
Teresa says
Unfortunatley, I do not use St. Pete Times (sorry Nadine) as I had heard about the missing coupons, but most likely not St. Pete times fault. I did find out they only print so many inserts, first goes to home subscriptons then to newstands and once they run out they only put in what coupons they have left so the freestanding newstands get the leftovers. So that being said I was at a coupon MOPS event and used Tampa Tribune to sign up for 14 subscriptions to be delivered to my house so I wouldnt miss out on coupon inserts. (so purchase either St. Pete Times or Tribune home delivery subscriptions would be my hassell-free, time-saving Advice)
I also made deals on my subscriptions. For every subscription, he gave me $5 publix giftcard. So ended up, Publix giftcards in calculations, to be $0.65 to be delivered to my house which equals less time riding around finding my newspapers, which means more newspapers in your newstands, WELL WORTH IT!
I have his contact information just let me know. If you have a St. Pete Times contact post that as well. I have no connection to either one.
Thanks to all who had your kind words to share.

I agree. Couponing in any form is a great way to save money. I have 8 kids and therefore have to buy WAAAAYYY more food, shampoo, soap, laundry supplies than most of the people here. A family of 10 requires a lot. I stock up on everything any chance I get. That way, I don’t have to buy it again until it goes on that really good sale. If I can buy 8 or 10 of something then so be it. I have only been couponing since Jan. and have already had to get several rain checks. It doesn’t matter to me if I get it this week or next as long as I can get it for that price and with publix, they allow rainchecks for this very reason. Shame on you guys for coming down on a mother trying to provide for her family just like the rest of us!
Janice says
Hi, I buy at least 4 papers every week. If the coupns are good I;ll go back and but 4 more. I usually shop the first and last day of the sales. I buy just a couple of the sale items on the first day and wait until the last day to buy more if any is left. If the shelf is empty I ask for rain checks to cover the amount of coupns I a have. It’s fun to use them after the sale, sort of like a treat!
Shayna says
Christina, I agree, but my guess is she did it for the overage.
Mabel says
Yep. looks like my haul! :)Not sure how I missed the Air Wicks though.
Rocki says
My store was out of all the gum and the Airwicks as well. Of course Publix will give you a rain check, but sometimes the item is still out of stock when your coupons expire. Many stores will still honor them b/c it’s not your fault the item is out of stock, but I’m sure they don’t all do that.
Natalia says
Also, Publix will place a special order for you, if you would like to order the item thats out of stock.
Katie says
Good job!
I also live in the Tampa Bay area, and went to Publix last Thursday, and got $250 dollars worth of food for $39…my best buy yet 🙂
Mari says
I think this is a great way to add to a stock pile. I always speculate how super coupon shoppers feed their family for the week with almost no food. I understand that they might be pulling a fair percentage of food from their personal stock pile but no fresh fruit, veggies, or fresh milk for the week? I always think that they might have purchased other groceries and they don’t blog or post about that! Maybe I’m delusional but it seems like a fair question. I’ve been couponing for over a year and I can save on average about 50% but we eat a lot of fresh vegetables, fruit, meats, and dairy and I include what we purchase at the Farmer’s Market in our totals.
Florence says
At the Publix at the Crystal Bach shop center on Alt. US 19 in Palm Harbor FL tonight I asked at the customer service counter if they take the $5 off $30 Winn Dixie printed coupon. I showed the man at the counter the printed coupon I had and he said yes they take one for every $30 you spend. After I finished shopping, everything was rung up, and loaded in my basket, the cashier asked the manager if the printed coupons were ok, the manager said they don’t take them. I told him the customer service man, Arsenio, told me that his store takes them. I said that wasn’t right for customer service to ok it and then after I buy everything, it is not allowed. He said that he is the manager and he makes the rules. It is more and more confusing to shop at Publix.
Carol says
my publix east lake rd. would not take the two air wick coupons because the cashier said it was more than the 5.99 item! i was running late and couldn’t wait for a manager to come over…very frustrating sometimes!!!
Joann says
My Publix in Orlando took both Air Wick coupons, but would not pay the overage.
They also took the Winn Dixie coupon; however, they only applied it after they deducted all my other coupons. So my total after coupons had to be $30 in order to use the $5 off Winn Dixie coupon.
Hayley says
So, did you get a bunch of free Publix bags with your Cover Girl purchases?
Nadine says
My father sells the rollers for the Times, therefore, I thank you for keeping him in business. Coupoing helps families save money, and print companies stay in business. Thank you Liza, and thank you to her followers.
Chrissy says
I can’t believe some people would be so rude to pass judgement on what other people are buying. Just because your store was out of stock, don’t blame this poor woman who was nice enough to share her deals with us!!
Shanda says
Great job Teresa!!! You rock!
