Recently I was given the opportunity to check out Walgreens’ new Paperless Coupons via Mobile App program, and of course I said yes – anything that can help me save time and money I’m all about! At this juncture in my life, spills, messy body parts, and dirty diapers are pretty much a daily occurrence. I find that I’m constantly running low on things like paper towels and wipes, even though I tend to stock up when a good deal is available. So while testing out the Walgreens Paperless Coupons function on their mobile app, I figured I might as well get some products that fit my life right now – paper towels, wipes, and bath tissue (you can never have too much of that).
Of course, I chose these items also because not only were there coupons in the Walgreens Mobile App, but they matched with the Walgreens sale too. So, how exactly do you use the paperless coupons?
Basically, the Walgreens Paperless Coupons are manufacturer and store eCoupons that are clipped either on your smartphone or online and then redeemed at the store when you scan your Balance Rewards card. The coupons are automatically applied, so there’s no need to cut the coupons. Each paperless coupon can be used one time, and then it will be deleted from your list. That said, there are a couple of steps I took to make sure it works properly:
- First, I went to Walgreens.com and signed into my account using my phone number that’s connected to my Balance Rewards card. If you don’t have a Balance Rewards account, you can sign up for free HERE.
- Next, I looked at the paperless coupons available in Walgreen’s new paperless coupons section and clipped the ones I knew I’d use in the store (based on my homework of the current ad, which you can view HERE). There is a $1/1 Cottenelle Walgreens store coupon, a $1/1 Scott Naturals Walgreens store coupon, and a $0.50/1 Pampers manufacturer to clip.
- Lastly, I got on my smartphone, downloaded the Walgreens App (available in Android or iTunes), and logged in with the same user ID and password for my Walgreens online account. I clicked on the Weekly Ad & Coupons tab and voila!, there were my digitally clipped coupons ready to be used at the store.
When I got to the store, both the Scott Naturals Paper Towels and Cottenelle Bath Tissue were nicely displayed as soon as I walked in. Just in case yours aren’t at the front, head on down to aisle 8 (in my store). You can see my store companion looking so angelic with his “go-go’s” (i.e., Goldfish).
The Pampers Wipes I needed were down in Aisle 3, where my sweet little Boo was still going to town on his go-go’s.
Once we had our products, we headed to the checkout line, where I can give you a couple of tips on your checkout process.
1) Make sure you’re logged into your Walgreens Mobile App go to the Weekly Ad & Coupons section. All your clipped coupons will be there, as well as the barcode for the cashier. This barcode will read your Balance Rewards number as well as your clipped coupons.
2) The cashier’s screen will say “digital coupons applied,” but they will actually not show on the screen yet. Don’t worry, they will.
3) Present your paper coupons (if you have any). For me, I stacked manufacturer paper coupons for both Cottenelle and Scott Naturals. **NOTE** Do this before the cashier hits “payment.” Per my cashier, sometimes they’re unable to take the paper coupons after the “payment” button is pressed.
4) Your total should now reflect the savings from the sales, you digital coupons, your Balance Rewards (if applicable, and your paper coupons (if you have any).
The process was super easy but there was a glitch. For some reason the system didn’t recognize my $0.50 off Pampers coupon. I spoke with the manager who informed me that there seems to be a technical glitch for some of the coupons. Of course they made it right and got me my $0.50! 🙂 But just make sure you read your receipt carefully to insure you’re getting your savings.
Will I use Walgreens Paperless Coupons in the future? No question! I saved time and money, and that’s always a good thing. Make sure you check out this week’s Walgreens Weekly Ad & Matchups to make the most of your Walgreens trip!
How about you? Have you linked your Walgreens Balance Rewards account with their paperless coupons yet? What do you think?

What a cutie with his “Go-Gos”. I hear you on the paper essentials. I can barely keep up with the messes around here. #client

He loves his Go-Gos! 🙂 And yes! The messes! Before becoming a parent, I “knew” that life would get messier. I just didn’t realize how big some of the messes would be! =)
