Another week has come and gone. Now that we are almost to the middle of September, I’m already starting to think ahead towards the holidays which is crazy! Time flies, doesn’t it? We have been juggling normal, every day life with all of our adoption preparations and planning. I get a bit overwhelmed if I stop and think about all of the things we have accomplished and yet at the same time still have yet to do. Because I had a major grocery shopping haul last week, this week I didn’t have a ton on my grocery list. Hubby is extremely excited about $0.99 boxes of Magnum Ice Cream bars so I made sure to get four boxes for him. That should last him a good while 😉

We’ve had a wonderful week this week! I never told all of you this while he was gone, but hubby was away for almost two weeks on a missions trip in Ethiopia and then Uganda. So it was just me “manning” the house, the pets and then of course blogging. Hubby got home over the weekend and life is slowly going back to normal which is nice. I also posted this just a few days ago but we have accepted a referral for a 2 month old baby boy in Ethiopia. (If interested, go HERE to read more info on our adoption blog) So life has been a bit crazy as we are scrambling to gather the necessary paperwork, schedule yet another homestudy and then schedule the necessary doctor appointments needed for us to have our adoption proceed quickly. It is crazy to think that in just two or three months we will be in Ethiopia. Hmm… I wonder if I will be able to blog while in Ethiopia? 🙂

With the craziness of my life lately, shopping hasn’t been a huge priority. But for the first time in a long time, I felt excited about this week’s shopping trip since there were some awesome deals to take advantage of! As you all already know, last night I sent hubby to Publix to get us 12 boxes of Dr. Pepper for $0.33 each. (Go HERE to see our photo show and tell from last night.) Tonight, I had enough Dr Pepper coupons to get four more 12-packs. I did get a lot of produce since I was running low. So the produce and eggs drove my total up a bit, but I still saved a ton of money using $49.00 worth of coupons!

Well – you can see from my picture above that I didn’t purchase that many groceries today! Hubby has been out of the country for almost the past two weeks on a missions trip in Ethiopia and Uganda so I’m not going through a ton of food without him here! Because of that, my grocery list was short and I also didn’t find a lot of sales jumping out at me. But I’m really glad I was able to get the Helmann’s mayo deal and I’m also glad I decided to try the Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt. Did everyone have a good week? I’m exhausted! This was a busy week for me. So busy that I contemplated skipping out on today’s Publix shopping trip. But looking at everything I scored, I’m happy I went. I was so excited to buy boxes of crackers for $0.50 each (stockpile price everyone!) and then to get Aquafresh toothpaste (awesome item to donate) and Chips Ahoy! Cookies for free! I noticed today that about 90% of the coupons I used (if not more) were printable coupons. I’m curious, are you finding that you are using more printable coupons than coupons from your Sunday coupon inserts? As a reminder, for those of you who are new to my Photo Show and Tells, I didn’t purchase any meat because I stocked up last time Zaycon Foods came to town (go HERE to learn about Zaycon Foods). And, I have been using Half Off Depot vouchers on Harr’s Surf and Turf to score awesome deals on fresh salmon so I have been set on seafood. Since I have a freezer stocked with meat and seafood, I focus each week on produce, dairy products and then the best deals that are available.

I ran to Publix a bit later today than normal. So I was expecting to see my store wiped clean of some of the items on my grocery list. But surprisingly, I was actually able to get everything on my list. I was able to do pretty good. I got 12 jars of baby food to give away as well as Bagel-fuls, pens and canned vegetables to give away. Not bad! I also was able to find some new coupon sheets and booklets and I will be posting them in the next couple of days!

I can not believe that it is already August. This summer has come and gone so quickly! This week, we had the pleasure of watching a four month old Golden Retriever Puppy. She was the absolute sweetest thing. While she definitely added more work to our daily routines, she was a fun addition and she made the week absolutely fly by.

Today I went to Publix thinking that they would be out of Smucker’s Uncrustables. You all know that I have been posting about this deal for a week now so I assumed you all would have beat me to them. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was able to use all 8 of my coupons! We will probably go through one box in our house but we have friends with 5 kids so I have a good home to send the remaining seven boxes to 🙂 Beyond that, today wasn’t a very exciting trip. Although, I was very excited about the green grapes I bought – they are super firm and perhaps the largest grapes I’ve ever bought. I was also happy with the fact that the cherries were again on sale for $1.99/lb. The asparagus was a last minute decision – it looked good and I thought it would be a great addition to the meal I’m preparing for dinner tonight.

I should note that hubby and I went shopping together so I split my purchase into two transactions so that he could use a $5/$30 Winn Dixie coupon and I could use a $5/$25 Save-a-Lot coupon.

My friend Kelly emailed me the picture above of the groceries she scored at Publix yesterday! She and I have been talking about how it is challenging to save money at Publix lately. Don’t get me wrong, the sales are still awesome. The problem is that the coupon matchups for the sales are sub par lately. Nonetheless, Kelly was able to spend just $15.23 on everything pictured and she saved $63.48! That is savings of 80.7%!

Phew! Well, another week has come and gone! This has been a tough summer for us. It has flown by and had lots of ups and downs. I can’t believe that August is just next week! So I did a ton of shopping the past two days. I went to two Targets yesterday to take advantage of their awesome July Toy Clearance Sale. (To see my Photo Show and Tell, go HERE.) Then, today I headed out to Publix. Yet again, I am a bit disappointed with the sales/coupon combos available right now. But we have to make do with the sales and I do remind myself that I’m still saving more money by maximizing sales by using coupons versus not using any coupons at all. Right? 🙂 Hubby and I went shopping together so we broke up our transaction into two transactions
