Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/25/12

I am extremely pleased with this week’s Publix sale! Lots of grilling and summer related sales since Memorial Day is this weekend! If you are new to viewing my Photo Show and Tells, each week, I do my Publix shopping trip and then photo what I purchased as well as explain what coupons I used for each deal. (Ten years ago I never would have predicted that I would be photographing everything I purchased at the grocery store ;)) I type up this Photo Show and Tell so that you can copy any deals you are interested in. You should also know that I have a huge stockpile of frozen meat courtesy of Zaycon Foods. Because of this, each week I focus on the best deals that I can add to my stockpile and/or give away to friends and family. My favorite deal that I took advantage of this week was the Morningstar Veggie Burgers. My hubby and I LOVE the Spicy Black Bean burgers and we especially love them when they are one sale BOGO AND there are $1.00/1 MorningStar Farms Veggie Product coupons to use along with them. These burgers do not expire until November ’12 and we are figuring 6 boxes should last us until then. Yummo. I also sent Jeff to Winn Dixie tonight to score FREE Ocean Spray Juice as well as some fresh produce.

I am almost ashamed to put this picture up! Hubby and I went to Publix tonight and as we were walking with our empty grocery cart, he looked at me and said, “Are you sure you are Liza from Addicted to Saving?” Our savings were paltry, I didn’t stock up on anything (except the, ahem, chocolate) and we barely took advantage of any of the sales!

This was a really crazy week for us. In fact, I apologize because some of my regular posts went by the wayside. We have had a really up and down week with adoption stuff and next week I will post about everything to fill you all in. Let’s just say that this week included many nights of way too little sleep, lots of nervous stomachs and lots of praying. But I’ll fill you in soon – promise.

Did you all have a good week? Originally I thought I was going to have a nice, relaxing week filled with posting deals on Addicted to Saving, spending time with my dogs, going on runs, and cooking new meals. Well, let’s just say that I think I had one relaxing day and that was Monday. Every other day has been filled with appointments, important phone calls, decision making, working on adoption stuff and then today hubby and I were filmed on Daytime TV to talk about adoption. Speaking of adoption, if you haven’t checked out our one week old adoption blog, it is Addicted to Adoption. Oh – and I’m also in the midst of doing an organizational overhaul to my kitchen. My kitchen has a good amount of cabinet space but after being in this house for six years, we have accumulated a lot of stuff! So – I have purchased some furniture to act as extra storage for tupperware, kitchen gadgets, vitacost vitamins, etc. My kitchen is still a work in progress and until it is organized, I don’t think I will feel relaxed in my kitchen. (I hate cooking in a disheveled kitchen!)

Today’s Publix run was not a neccesary grocery trip. Earlier this week we bought more produce so today, what we really needed was milk and Half & Half. Despite having a full stockpile, there were some great deals and some great freebies today that I couldn’t overlook! We don’t drink much soda in this house (about one bottle a month), so the soda you see will be given away. Same for most of the Eggo pancakes.

Well this has been a LONG week for me! Looking back, every day this week I had appointments, a tad bit of stress and lots of planning for Thursday night’s Addicted to Saving class. So I am extremely happy the week is almost over! Class was a success and I think I counted that I was able to meet at least 30 of you all either talking to you before or after the class. So fun for me! (I will post more about class soon :)) So – all this to say about my week, I wasn’t that enthused about shopping tonight. Especially knowing I still had to work on drugstore matchups for all of you. Fortunately, I have a very helpful hubby. So I printed out my grocery list and hubby headed to the store for me. I can’t believe it is Friday already! These weeks are flying by! My weeks have been filled with working on Addicted to Saving and planning for my upcoming Addicted to Saving 101 class this Thursday in Clearwater. We are also working on keeping our six month old puppy potty trained. I say “keeping” because last week he regressed! He had gone about 2 weeks without any accidents and then all of a sudden, he had 2 peeing accidents and 2 pooping accidents. The joys of having a puppy! We were ready to schedule an appointment to get our carpets cleaned but now I think we will wait a little longer before we assume our house will be accident free 😉

Today’s Publix shopping trip was better than last week (if you recall, I spent a bit more $$ then I would have preferred)! But we did spend more money then I would have liked. Fortunately, we bought 4 bags of coffee so we should be well stocked for at least a couple of weeks!

Well, another week has come and gone. Today hubby and I headed to Publix to do our weekly shopping trip. I had put together a really long grocery list and for some reason, I wasn’t thinking that I was going to be spending a lot of money. But four pounds of shredded cheese adds up (even with my $1.00 off cheese coupons), two boxes of trash bags and at least $20 worth of fresh produce added up quickly. So, we spent more then I would have liked. To bring you up to date, I finished my 10 day juice cleanse on Monday and now we are juicing every morning and eating normal the rest of the day. As you know, the cost of produce adds up! I also took advantage of the $10.00 off $50.00 Gas Card coupon although I did not include those numbers below since the gas card is part of our gas budget (not grocery budget).

Well – this week came and went quickly! This past Sunday, I took my husband to Orlando to celebrate his birthday a couple of days early and being gone all day and then working on the Publix ad all Sunday night threw my week off a bit. I never quite got caught up! We’ve also been making a lot of plans for my upcoming Addicted to Saving Seminar in Clearwater on April 26th. (Go HERE for more info.) So with lack of sleep, birthday celebrations, work and life, I’m tired!

We went to Publix together this evening (yup – another Publix date night) and while we saved a lot of money ($170), we also spent a lot of money! In fact, I think I spent the most money today that I have all year! There are some great sales though and some of the sales – even with coupons – still cost a lot. And, I’m starting a 10 day juice fast tomorrow morning so I made sure to get some produce and I also plan on going to Winn Dixie to get more produce with some gift cards I’ve had stashed away for a while. Thank you to everyone who left comments on Addicted to Saving, facebook and via email with recipes for juice recipes. **feel free to leave a comment on this post with your recipes if you have more to share! You all have inspired me to try this juice fast out! (Well, the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead really inspired me. I figure that if juicing can cure some people of autoimmune disorders, maybe it can help some of my ailments. I’m hopefully optimistic and will keep you all posted on how it goes!)

Oh – and if you missed the adorable picture of my 5 month old puppy Louie that I posted on Addicted to Saving’s Facebook page earlier today, below is him sitting on our couch like an old man. Hasn’t he gotten big since I posted about him last? 🙂
