Photo Show and Tell – Publix 3/23/12

It was a great day to shop at Publix! I ended up spending much less than I anticipated. And, I was able to get some fruit and veggies for the new juicer I just got. I haven’t tried my juicer yet (I’m scared :)) but I’m excited to try out some recipes for fresh juice! **If you have a juicer, I would love it if you would leave some juicing tips and recipes! I was able to score some great deals thanks to a lot of store and manufacturer coupon matchups. My major challenge for the day today was paying attention to sizes on the coupons. For example, the Free Kraft Macaroni & Cheese coupons only covered the 7.25 oz sized boxes of the Kraft Mac & Cheese on sale BOGO. Most of the Kraft Mac & Cheese on sale were smaller boxes. This happened for a couple of other deals I took advantage of so my message to all of you is to really read your coupons to make sure they work on the items you are buying. If they don’t work, the store will not be reimbursed for them.

Well – I am slowly learning my lesson about doing my weekly Publix shopping trip late in the afternoon on Friday afternoons because all of you have already been there and wiped the shelves clean! Despite not being able to do the Family Size chips deal that I had planned out in my head, I still did great! And, for the first time, my store had Kraft Fresh Take in stock so I was excited to finally be able to score six Kraft Fresh Take for free 🙂 I’m especially excited to try the Chili Lime & Panko flavor. I also was thrilled to see that my Publix had lots of Blue Diamond Soy and Wasabi Almonds. That is our favorite flavor and I don’t think I’ve ever been able to get this good of a deal on them. So, my hubby and I are very happy! My only disappointment for today was realizing that I left my $2.00 off Publix bakery coupon at home.

What a week! Last week I was thankful about the fact that I never got my husband’s sickness. Well, maybe the thankfulness was a bit presumptuous because late Monday night I got sick and I’m still hanging onto it. Not fun. Today has been a busy day for us so I put together today’s Publix shopping list and sent my husband to tackle the sales. Meanwhile, I went with our puppy to the vet for his third round of shots where I left with a $200+ vet bill. How in the world does that happen?!? Hubby did really well at Publix though. He used six of our $2.00/$2.00 Publix produce coupons since they do not limit one coupon per customer (he also asked the produce manager for permission ;)).

I can not believe how time is flying! My husband and I had an afternoon Publix date today and I realized that I haven’t been to Publix in two weeks since last weekend I was in Nashville! We had a great time in Nashville learning about blogging, meeting other bloggers and meeting Joe Jonas and Rascal Flatts. This week took a bit of time getting into the swing of things as we have been battling exhaustion and colds. But we are on the mend and I’m thankful for that!

Today’s Publix shopping trip wasn’t the most amazing in the world. I was focusing on a lot of “healthier” options today so we spent a little more then I would have liked. But, it is worth it. Would rather save just 50% and get all healthy food versus save 100% and get all junk. (Don’t get me wrong – I like my junk food – I’m just trying to focus on having a primarily healthy diet.) I actually contemplated going on a cleanse this week. Not so much as to lose weight as to get rid of the toxins in my system and to lose some of my cravings for junk food. Have any of you done that before? Would love to hear your thoughts as well as the type of cleanse you did.

Also – as a note for the items I purchased below, I was able to use the $0.50/1 Maggi Soup Mix coupon to score FREE soup mix. The verbiage on the coupon is extremely confusing so I can not promise your store will honor it the way mine did.

If you are in need of cereal, head over to Publix! This weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 2/17-2/18) all Kellogg’s cereal is on sale 50% off!! There are times like these when I wish I had kids to buy fun cereals for! Since we don’t, we bought cereals for some of our favorite kiddos and also a couple for us. In the picture in front of you, there are 15 boxes of Kellogg’s cereals as well as one carton of Publix Half & Half. We used three $5.00 off 5 Kellogg’s Cereal coupons, one $5.00 off $30+ Publix coupon and our cashier also let us use one $2/$2 Publix coupon. So, everything in the picture cost $11.69 which was savings of 81.6%. Not too shabby!!

**update – as a head’s up – make sure you don’t make the same mistake I did.. The coupon is good for boxes 10 oz+ and I mistakingly got two boxes that were under 10 oz..

I can’t believe a year has passed since last year’s Publix Italian Days sale! I must admit that this year’s sale isn’t quite as impressive as last year’s. Last year Publix gave us slightly better coupons. Despite this, you can still get great deals at Publix right now! We have had another busy week and yet again I waited until the last minute to go grocery shopping. We’ve been working a lot on our adoption paperwork for our Haiti adoption and it seems that we have such a neverending list of things to do (adoption and non-adoption related) that life is a little overwhelming. I love lists and I love crossing out items on the list. Right now I just don’t see our list shortening – instead it seems to get longer by the second. I don’t know if that is what happens when you are grown up? Hubby and I took a break from life and had a date night at Publix (so NOT romantic – let me tell you). We ended our date with making a frozen pizza for dinner. Gotta love it! I didn’t have the most success today at Publix. While there are some good sales, I wasn’t overwhelmed with them. And, I did spend more then I would have liked to today. My husband wanted me to get two of the POM drinks which were a deal but not that good of a deal. Same thing for the Resolve. I was SUPER excited for the Weiman Stove Top cleaner sale. I’ve never tried this product before it was a great deal and I’m always trying to keep my glass-top clean.

Are these weeks flying by for you guys too? Another week has come and gone and it has been a whirlwind for my husband and I. (I will post more about that next week.) So, to celebrate tonight being Friday, my husband and I had a Publix date night. And now we are home and I’m typing up this Photo Show & Tell while he is warming up leftovers from last night. Yup. We are that boring! 🙂 This week’s sale wasn’t too impressive for me but I still was able to do a pretty good job at Publix. Last night we picked up ground beef and bacon from the local Zaycon Foods event so we now have enough boneless, skinless chicken breasts, ground beef and bacon to feed a small army. So yet again, I focused on the good sales at Publix and tried to maximize the sales with coupons. My favorite deal that I did tonight was the LaCroix Sparkling Water deal – I love that water and with the $1.00 off coupons, each can ended up being right around 10 cents!
