Well, as you all know, this week’s Publix ad is a bit sparse with deals. I am really disappointed by it. I probably would have skipped shopping entirely but I know many of you are used to reading my Photo Show and Tells so I forced myself to go. And then I spent more than I would have wanted to on what seemed like not many groceries. I did buy some necessities such as eggs, milk and bread. And I thought I was taking advantage of the Flatout Wraps deal (we love Flatout Wraps) UNTIL I realized that I totally bought the wrong kind! Please do not make the same mistake I did. If you look at my wraps in the picture above, note that that kind IS NOT on sale. UGH. Such a bummer. No wonder I spent a little more out of pocket than I expected.

I had a great day at Publix today! I shopped at a different Publix today so I was a bit uneasy as to how they are accepting coupons. But, they were great. I had a couple of questions couponwise and they answered all of them. The Publix I shopped at today accepts Target and Winn Dixie coupons so I was able to maximize a lot of the coupons and sales by using both a manufacturer coupon along with either a Publix store or a Target store coupon. As a reminder, you should always find out what stores your Publix accepts as competitors. I had a great day though! Was able to get a bit of produce (we are going to be away for a couple of days traveling for my upcoming Addicted to Saving 101 class so I didn’t need much/anything for this weekend) and I started stocking up on canned vegetables and condensed soup. *Tip* think ahead to the upcoming holidays. If you make casseroles over the holidays, buy the ingredients when they are on sale and you have a coupon to match with it. That way you don’t have to pay full price!

I have two disclaimers to make (what else is new? ;)). First of all, I bought four Air Wick Ribbon Scents Candle. I wasn’t sure if this type of candle is covered under the Publix store coupon so I asked customer service and they allowed it. That said, your store may treat this differently so ask before purchasing. And secondly, I bought four Covergirl Blush and used two $8/2 Covergirl Face Products coupon. Some stores may give you a problem on this. However, if you go to Covergirl’s website, you will see that under their Face Products category, blush is included. I am telling you this so that if your store gives you a hard time, you can kindly (yes, kindly) tell them (or print out and show them) that blush is included under Face Products on their website.

If you are thinking that I bought a lot today at Publix, you are 100% correct! I had quite the haul today! I wasn’t planning on buying quite this much – or should I say that as I printed my grocery list, I wasn’t picturing quite as much stuff as I ended up with! I got a ton of food. And, I spent a bit more than I probably would have liked. But, I had the $10.00 gift card I received a couple weeks ago so I knew that would help a little. And, we are going to have four house guests staying with us for a few weeks this month and I am desperately trying to make sure I have lots of food for them. I’ve told them that I expect them to eat all of my food and clean out my stockpile for me. 😉 We’ll see if that happens!

A few notes regarding my purchases.. First, the Eight O Clock coffee is a great deal – I would have bought even more (remember we go through coffee like it is water) but their coupons were not printing out for me. I received an email from them yesterday that they are having problems with their coupons so once their site is up and running again, I will buy even more. The second note for you is that you may be able to tell I bought 6 jars of Ragu Pizza Sauce. I may go back for more. There are no coupons for the sauce but as I told you in this week’s Publix weekly ad, it is on sale BOGO. It is very seldom on sale BOGO so I stocked up – especially since the expiration date is 2013. AND – thanks to many of you – I had my mom pick me up a box of Sam’s Club pizza dough!! Oh my gosh – what an amazing deal! So, I have plenty of dough just asking to be made! Lastly, my third note for you is that I bought 6 boxes of Chicken Hamburger Helper (or whatever the chicken mixes are called). I’m not sure if I will even like it, but as I said above, I will have a housefull soon. AND, I have at least 80 pounds of chicken that needs to be cooked. So, I figure that in a pinch, I’ll try the Chicken Helper. Have you guys tried it? Do you like it? I think that is it for my side notes! Whew! What a busy week. Today we filmed the second edition of Daytime’s Super Savers Club. This Wednesday, 9/28/11, Daytime (10 am on NBC if you live in Tampa Bay) will air our first edition so set your DVRs! Because of today’s filming, this shopping trip was actually completed last night. I really wish I had more to show you all, but as you probably know, it was another slow week at Publix! My Welch’s Grape Jelly coupons were about to expire, so I can’t complain about $0.59 jelly, and the $5/1 BenGay coupon just had to be used, even though the $5.99 Ultra Strength had already been wiped clean (grrrr!). So we’ll try out the $7.69 Pain Relief + Massage on my husband, as he’s getting older and needs all the pain relief and massage he can get. 😉

It has been another crazy week over here! Time is flying and I can’t believe that it is already almost the middle of September. Crazy! Today’s Publix trip was another great one! We did spend a bit more than I would probably like – especially since I’ve already been to Publix twice this month prior to today. But, I didn’t think that this week’s sales flyer was very impressive. So, with the sales being less than stellar – especially considering the lack of coupons to use on the current sales – I knew that we would end up spending a bit more out of pocket than we would like. I did want to make a note that I have used multiples of the same Publix coupons from the Toss 4 Cash coupon booklet. My store allowed this because the coupons do not limit “one per customer” or “one per purchase.” Also – we asked customer service if we could use the T.G.I. Friday’s Entree for One coupons on the sales items and we were told yes. Definitely ask your customer service prior to doing that deal as I have a feeling stores will vary on how to handle this situation.

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 9/2/11

Well, you can see from my picture above that I had an overflowing grocery cart today during my Publix shopping trip. Since we spent less than $3.00 on $67.00 worth of groceries last week (go HERE to see last week’s Photo Show and Tell), I gave myself a little leeway to spend a bit more than I normally like. And, when I saw this huge rack of Spareribs priced at $1.99/lb, I had to get them – even though I knew that would increase my out of pocket spending. But, I have an amazing barbecue spare ribs crock pot recipe that I haven’t made in ages so I forsee a crock pot meal occurring early next week in my household. (A huge plea goes out to my husband, who I know is reading this, to cut the ribs for me :))

I also stumbled upon bags of California Sun Dried Tomatoes on sale for $1.00 each! This is a great price – even without a coupon! Oh – and I did encounter a small problem using the Free Oikos Greek Yogurt coupons from Parade Magazine. The coupons state Free Dannon Oikos Yogurt but my Publix had Stonyfield Oikos Yogurt. And while the Stonyfield Oikos yogurt looks 100% like the pictured “free coupon” and while the fine print mentions both Dannon and Stonyfield, I wasn’t able to use the coupon. This wasn’t a big deal to me but I wanted to give all of you a head’s up on this. (The coupon expires 9/4/11.)

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 8/26/11

Well, like I think I said last week, another week has come and gone! Time is flying! Today’s Publix trip consisted mainly of a few necessities (grapes and squash – these grapes are priced nicely and have been SO good). Today’s trip also consisted of using some of the free coupons I have received in the mail the past couple of months. Many of my free value coupons expire this 8/31 so if you have any coupons in your stash at home go through to make sure you don’t let them expire! 🙂

I had sent my husband to Publix earlier this week for more salmon, so right now we have tons of chicken and salmon frozen away. I’m still waiting on a good deal on ground beef.. Although, to be totally upfront, with the ground beef recall recently, I will probably refrain from purchasing any for the next couple of weeks. To give you a head’s up, I realize that today’s shopping trip isn’t the most nutritious. My stockpile is full of really everything that I could need. So, today I created a grocery list around the great freebies available and also around the soon to be expiring coupons that I have.
