I did my Publix shopping trip early this week.  Tomorrow I have an appointment during the time that I normally shop, so this week I got an early start on the new Publix sales.  I have to admit that I came out of pocket a bit more than I would have desired.  ($29.62)  When I add that to the $52.00 I’ve already spent this month on groceries, that is a bit more than I normally spend in any given month.  But I splurged a little as some of the sales weren’t quite “stock pile” prices.  I am finding that when I first started couponing, I really made a game out of my shopping trips.  I would literally see how close to $0.00 I could spend out of pocket.  But now that I’ve been doing this for years, I’m starting to “relax” a bit and have a bit more fun.  (Although, every now and then I make my shopping trips a game so don’t worry, you will see more of my crazy savings trips in the future ;))  I’m also trying hard to keep fresh produce in the house.  I may actually have to go back for more soda.  My husband and I don’t drink soda, but we are having a house full Saturday and I am thinking the three bottles I bought won’t cut it.  If you do buy 2 liters of coke products, be on the lookout for hangtags.  Coke 2 liters are on sale B2G1.  The hangtag is Buy 2 Coke 2L, Get 1 Coke Zero 2L free.  So, with the sale, you get three bottles for the price of one. 🙂  Also – I scored an awesome deal on Olay Regenerist – with my coupons they came to $0.50 each!

Photo Show & Tell – Publix 6/17/11

I had a quick Publix trip this week.  I was in desperate need of milk so my priorities were the milk, eggs, broccoli and apples.  Everything else I bought because of the awesome coupons I had.  I really wanted to get the Magnum Ice Cream bars because I have the $1.00/1 Target coupon but my RP insert didn’t have the manufacturer’s coupon to go with it – instead my insert just had a one page ad for Magnum. Not cool. 🙁 I did forget to bring my $2.00/1 fresh produce Publix coupons so while I could have spent less money this week, I will save the money next week as I use the coupons then.  I was a bit a lot disappointed to see that the shelves were wiped clean of a lot of the deals I wanted to do.  But I have to remember that that is what I get for going grocery shopping after 5 pm on a Friday!  **Oh and a funny side note – the lady in line behind me watched me use all of my coupons and proceeded to tell me that she doesn’t use coupons because she only buy organic food at Whole Foods.  I look at her grocery cart and in it is 6 cartons of Breyer’s Ice Cream, 4 boxes of Duncan Hines cake mix and then some random odds and ends.  Not quite organic is it?  😉

Happy Friday!  I hope you all have had a great week!  This was a busy and yet very productive week for me and I barely eeked in a Publix grocery trip before Publix closed tonight!  I wasn’t overly impressed with this week’s sales so I didn’t buy too much.  But, I did splurge on Tilapia and I’m super excited to make it!  I was also shocked to see that my store had Tylenol Precise in stock so I was happy to get two boxes for free!  🙂  I also managed to get the Sargento cheese for $0.50 each!  Here is how:  I used two $1.00/1 Sargento Publix Store coupons (there is no limits on the coupon stating one per transaction) and I used one $1.00 off ANY brand 1 lb shredded, cubed or brick cheese manufacturer coupon.  This is a manufacturer coupon that states valid in Florida.  Since two Sargento 8 oz bags equal one pound, I was able to use one coupon per two bags of cheese.  (I was also allowed to use this on the Cheddar Cheese even though it was an ounce short.)  I asked customer service if I could do this transaction prior to doing it.  I recommend you do the same.

Today is the day for fresh produce!  Between my shopping trip at Publix and my shopping trip at Winn Dixie, (where I just bought fresh produce using a gift card I received from transfering a ) I stocked up on a TON of fresh produce.  My nutritionist would be so proud of me.  😉  Fortunately, my husband and I love salad and veggies so we will be eating lots of meals on a bed of lettuce the next few days!  I found an AWESOME deal on the Oscar Mayer Low Sodium Turkey Bacon at Publix.  I had a $1/1 Target coupon and a $0.75/1 manufacturer coupon so with both coupons I got the bacon for $1.64 (it was regularly priced at $3.39 at my Publix).  Also – if you have any $1.00/1 any Kame product coupons, you can score a can of Kame Water Chestnuts for just $0.34!  All of the coupon details are below.

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/20/11

As you can see from my picture, today’s Publix shopping trip wasn’t a huge trip!  This has been a crazy week and it isn’t over yet.  I try to work a certain number of hours each day and I can say that this week I definitely went well beyond the limits I set for myself!  But, I’m so excited about the new printable grocery list – do you guys like it??  I’m also excited about the morning I had yesterday.  Yesterday I went to ABC 10 Action News studio and they taped a piece that is scheduled to air this upcoming Wednesday!  My hope is that I spoke at least somewhat intelligently! 

During my trip today, I wanted some veggies but besides that, I didn’t stock up on much at all.  I’m excited about the Blue Diamond Almonds and my husband will be excited about the Smart Balance spread.  I only had two $1.00 off ANY Chinet coupons so I wasn’t able to stock up on the napkins like I wanted.  I know many of you asked how to get that coupon – you have to sign up for a Chinet account.  Then, Chinet emails you a coupon good for $1.00 off any Chinet product.  The Covergirl Blush was a moneymaker as were the Sundown Vitamins.  The overage from those items helped my out of pocket spending quite a bit!  I ended up getting $8.62 worth of fresh veggies and spent a total of $7.80 on everything pictured.  So, I was happy.  And, I still had money left on my Publix gift card so I didn’t actually have to spend anything on today’s trip which made me even more happy!  😉

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/13/11

I was desperately in need of lettuce, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and salt today so those were my priorites when I did my weekly shopping trip.  So, I went with a list of veggies I needed and then added in some of the great sales that are going on. 

I spoke with management at my store and I am so happy to see that very very little is changing at my Publix.  They will be reading the verbiage on the store coupons which they didn’t tend to do in the past, but besides that they are going to add two new grocery stores to their accepted competitor list which will only benefit me!  So, I’m thrilled with the new coupon policy!  🙂  I forsee each store handling the policy differently so I highly recommend you ask customer service how the store will handle situations like duplicate store coupons, overage, dollar off coupons, etc etc.  My store (as the coupon policy states) will accept one dollar off (i.e. $5/$30) Publix store coupon and one dollar off competitor coupon in one transaction.  That said, you will have to purchase the total amount of the two coupons before using your other coupons.  So, if you use two $5/$30, you will have to spend $60 before coupons.  That isn’t a problem for me because I never used two dollar off coupons in one transaction!  All in all, I think the new policy is wonderful because we have something in writing and while there are still many “gray areas,” at least we have a policy to bring to the store with us!  **If you missed my post on the dissecting the Publix policy earlier this week, go HERE.  

I took advantage of the Sominex deal and the John Frieda deal but I only did one deal since the Green Advantage flyer verbiage limits one coupon per customer.  I did use multiple Vlasic Publix store coupons but that is because there were no limitations on them.  The best part about today’s trip is that I spent $0.00 out of pocket since I was using the $25.00 Publix gift card given to me by My Blog Spark and General Mills.  Don’t forget to enter to win the $25.00 gift certificate I am giving to one Addicted to Saving Reader (go HERE).

I wanted to make sure you all didn’t miss yesterday’s Photo Show and Tell.  I know I usually post my Photo Show and Tells on Fridays so I wanted to post this to make sure you didn’t miss my early posting.  Go HERE to read my Photo Show and Tell from yesterday (Thursday, May 5th).

On a side note, I will post pictures of my “garden” early next week.  We didn’t end up getting my raised garden (that I affectionately call a sandbox garden) going last weekend.  We have a very sick dog on our hands and my husband and I have literally been by his side 24 hours a day since he can’t be left unattended.  All this to say, I’m really hoping to get my additional veggie garden going in the next week or so.  Do you think that will be too late to plant more veggies?

Photo Show and Tell – Publix 5/5/11

I did my weekly Publix shopping trip a day early this week with great results!  You can see from the picture that I managed to stock up on Tidy Cats kitty litter.  Sadly, my cat doesn’t like this kind of litter but I will gladly donate it to my local vet.  Speaking of which – for those of you that don’t have pets, if you are inclined please remember that shelters, animal hospitals, etc are always looking for supplies like litter, food, cleaning products, etc.  You can also see that I stocked up on Eight O Clock coffee – that was the goal of my shopping trip today!  I have a few more coupons to use so will go and get more coffee before the sale is over.  (We go through coffee like it is nobody’s business!)  I also scored a few freebies so if we ever have tummy “issues” in our household, we should be covered.  😉  I actually went to Publix yesterday to pick up a raincheck on the Bic Soleil razor deal and got some fresh produce.  The past 4 weeks I have definitely come out of pocket more than normal.. But I do have a lot to show for it and I’m still happily under budget.

I also took advantage of the gas card deal but didn’t include it in my numbers below since the money I spent will go towards our gas budget.  If you are unaware of the deal, in this week’s ad is a coupon for $10.00 off a $50.00 gas card when you spend $25.00 or more.  This is an awesome deal as long as you have the $40.00 to cover the cost of the gas card.
