I had so much fun at Publix today. I actually threw together all of my coupons this morning and for the first time in a long time, I didn’t go into Publix knowing ahead of time what I was going to spend. (Usually, I have the math done ahead of time for my entire grocery list.) It was a bit of a gamble, but I knew that I had a lot of great deals in my cart so I was able to stock up on two bags of apples, plums, bananas, acorn squash and asparagus. Despite all of the produce I bought, I still ended up spending $0.09 before tax. With tax, I spent $4.15! I was thrilled and I have to say that my cashier was the best. She is one of my store’s customer service managers and she never flinches when she sees me coming with a huge wad of coupons.

I did a quick Publix run this afternoon. I’m excited to try the Gluten Free Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers. I’m hoping they taste as good as they look on the bag 🙂 I did spend more money out of pocket today than I have in a long time. I can’t really figure out why because looking at the picture, I don’t see a ton of groceries. I saved 84% which is the lowest percentage I have saved in a long time. BUT, I did get Q-tips for my stockpile and crackers which I am entirely out of. And I got the sacred Half & Half for my husband. (He starts to get the nervous sweats when he gets low on his coffee creamer ;)) How did you all do this week? Did you find any great deals worth mentioning? I know I know I know. You are looking at this picture and not only are you thinking and wondering why I bought so many Toaster Strudels, but you are also wondering where all the veggies are and where the meat is!! (Do I know all of you or what? 😉 You know that I love Publix. Today, however, there really wasn’t much I wanted to buy. I wanted to get the Trop50 Orange Juice and I wanted to get the Barilla pasta sauce. But seriously, I would have been okay buying just those two things. HOWEVER, everything got tricky when I had a $10.00 off of $50.00 Publix store coupon that a reader sent me last week. I had to spend $50.00 (before coupons) in order to use this coupon. So, since I am planning on buying chicken at Sweetbay this week (go HERE for more info) and since I still have veggies from last week’s Publix sale, I decided to splurge on Toaster Strudel. My hubby is a huge fan of it. That said, neither he nor I will go through all 12 boxes. So, never fear, I have already given away 6 boxes 🙂

I had another great Publix trip today! I focused on a few sales items that I wanted to stock up on and I focused on the awesome $0.99/lb produce deals. I am wondering if I can cut up and freeze zucchini and yellow squash? Has anyone tried that before?

I had a great trip although I chose the wrong cashier. You all know what I mean… when I got in her line I knew right away I should have chosen a different line… But, I put on a smile and I organized my stack of my coupons to match the order of the items on the conveyor belt. My first problem was when she wouldn’t give me overage on the Combat even though I’ve received overage on that deal at her Publix numerous times before. No big deal to me. I didn’t want to raise a fuss and ruin it for any couponers who happened in her line after me. However, she told me she would use either the store Combat coupon or the manufacturer coupon. Not both. I reminded her that she had to adjust the value of the coupon down so that I received the item free without overage. She reluctantly did this. It was funny to me that she knew how to do this which showed me she just didn’t want to give me the item free and she was hoping I would let it slide. Then, towards the end of the transaction, her register wouldn’t allow her to accept any more coupons because I gave her so many store and manufacturer coupons. Not a bid deal right? Well, she tells me she can’t accept any more of my coupons and literally is about to hand my pile of unused coupons back. To which I tell her, no, all you need to do is have a manager override the system. Again, she reluctantly did this and called the manager over and the manager (who was awesome btw) punched in her code.

This was a reminder, though, of how important it is to know how couponing works. If I was a coupon newbie, I would have lost money on the Combat deal and I would have lost money on the stack of coupons the cashier tried to give me back! To my newbies reading this, always know that it is okay to question a cashier’s actions.

Today’s Publix trip was fantastic. I went to a Publix located a bit farther from my “regular” Publix because I wanted to go to one that accepts Target coupons. Today was not my full weekly shopping trip. In fact, I had a full blown shopping trip this past Tuesday and I didn’t think about taking a picture of everything until now for proof. This past Tuesday I spent $29.95 and saved $120.46 and stocked up on tons of meat (4 packages of Ground Sirloin, 2 packages of Pork Country Ribs, 1 package of Sirloin Tip Steak) and produce and lots of pasta, cereal and other stuff. So, since I bought so much on Tuesday, today I really bought only the highlights that stuck out at me from the ad. I was able to score a TON of free stuff today. Originally I was planning on paying around $0.50 (after using Target store coupons) or so for each Planters Peanuts but this awesome Publix worker saw me taking the Planters off the shelf and showed me an awesome tearpad with $1.00/2 Planters Products. Score! With the tearpad, I was able to get all the nuts for free AND I received $0.87 overage! I LOVE Publix! Also – random side note – my husband very rarely eats Chef Boyardee (I can’t stomach it) and neither of us eat Kids Cuisine. BUT, I have these awesome boys in my neighborhood that I love to shower with free food and they will be receiving the Kids Cuisine and most of the Chef Boyardee 😉

Hello Ronzoni pasta and Ragu sauce! As you know, Publix has an awesome deal right now on Ragu and Ronzoni which is why I stocked up bigtime! I had a great day. Didn’t get any produce, but I have been getting produce at Winn Dixie and I stocked up on organic veggies and ground beef at Messineo’s Market in St Petersburg using the Groupon I purchased for me & my husband. I had a great day at Publix today! I was able to get some veggies and utilize some great coupons I had burning a hole in my pocket. I must say that looking at my picture I’ve posted, I realize that I only bought one item that was on sale B1G1! As you probably know, that abnormal for me! But, this week’s sale is only so-so and I ended up finding other deals utilizing the coupons I had. When all is said and done, I ended up saving 99.2% which I will take any day!

I had a fun but yet interesting trip at Publix yesterday. I am not finding this week’s Publix sale to be extraordinary but I had some coupons that scored me good deals and I was able to buy some veggies which I am in desperate need of. (I also need squash and broccoli but I wasn’t thrilled with Publix’s prices this week.) It was fun in the sense that I scored free Dove deororant, free Carefree pantiliners, free Olay Regenerist and free Hidden Valley dressing. I also bought a ton of Ziploc Bags but they are not pictured. My trip, however, was an interesting trip because first of all, I read a coupon incorrectly. This very seldom happens, but it does happen. So, my encouragement to you is to read each coupon and make sure you are buying the correct item with the coupon! The second reason this trip was interesting is because I had THE WORST experience with my cashier. WORST. He missed scanning $5.00 in Publix store coupons and $3.50 in manufacturer coupons – this is a total of EIGHT COUPONS he missed. I brought my receipt back to customer service and I am STILL waiting on Publix to fix the issue! The pricing below is based on the assumption that Publix fixes their errors. I spent $14.17 (including tax) on $169.87 worth of groceries! 🙂
