For my area, you can also order Hickory Smoked Bacon for $3.49/lb and/or Pork Sausage Links for $2.79/lb! Zaycon Foods brings affordable, high quality meat, seafood and produce to cities across the U.S.They sell their meat in bulk so when you make a purchase, you will buy enough meat to last you at least a couple of months!

I’ve known the owners of Zaycon Foods for 3 years now and I can not say enough good things about the company or the product that they serve. Zaycon contacted me to help them find a good location for one of their recent events. You can even catch a glimpse of me and my hubby just a few seconds into the segment. Sadly, they didn’t give a shout out to Addicted to Saving. 
You all know that I talk about Zaycon Foods almost weekly. Zaycon Foods is my go-to source for fresh meats. I purchase almost all of my boneless, skinless, chicken breasts as well as lean ground beef in bulk exclusively from Zaycon. Make sure you have signed up to be on Zaycon Foods email list! I posted the other day about Zaycon Foods returning again to many cities throughout Florida to bring Grilled Chicken Breast Strips at $2.89/lb! (Go HERE to read my post about that). Well, they sent an email letting us know they’ll also be bringing Cooked 31/40 White Shrimp as well for only $5.99/lb! These shrimp are farm-raised, flash frozen and fully cooked, and come in five 2-lb bags per case (see below picture). The order size for the shrimp is 20 lbs.

**UPDATE – since I posted this, it appears Zaycon has sent out more emails about date/time changes. So please check your email before heading out to get your chicken.
If you live in Florida and if you ordered chicken from Zaycon Foods that is scheduled to be delivered this week, make sure you read the info below. They sent the email out below with some adjusted pick-up times. Please note that if you have questions, you will need to contact Zaycon Foods. I am relaying this info to all of you but I have no additional info beyond what you see below

*ATTENTION FLORIDA!!** We had a glitch in our notification system. There are many of you who received an email or text that hadn’t even order. We apologize for the panic it created.
The following Events are the ONLY EVENTS THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED.
JUST THE TIME HAS CHANGED, SAME DATE AND LOCATION EXCLUDING SARASOTA, IT DOES HAVE A DIFFERENT DATE.

If you live in GA or FL, fom January 26th through February 3rd, Zaycon will bring 40 lb cases of Lean (93/7) Ground Beef for $2.97/lb and 30 lb cases of Hickory Smoked, Medium Sliced Bacon for $2.97/lb. If you live in Texas or Arizona, Zaycon is also holding events in many cities throughout your states! Zaycon’s prices are stockpile prices. You will want to freeze much of your meat so that you can live off of it for months to come. OR, you could always split the order with a friend or neighbor! Did you take advantage of the Zaycon Foods event in Florida last month? Have you taken advantage of their events in other states? Tonight I received an email from Zaycon Foods that they are returning to Florida this fall and this time they are bringing BACON! (My husband will be SO happy!) For the new event, Zaycon Foods will be selling medium sliced Hickory Smoked Bacon for $2.95/lb! Each pound includes approximately 14-18 slices! Great deal! Your order will include 30 pounds which sounds like a lot to me but remember you can split it up and share it with friends, family, etc! If you haven’t gotten on Zaycon Foods email list, go HERE. Zaycon Foods will start taking orders Tuesday, 10/25/11.

]]>Last night was the inaugural Zaycon Foods event for the Tampa area that I have been talking about so much lately. As you can see from the photos below and from the video above, there was quite a crowd on hand when we showed up! Yet for all of the cars, we got through the line surprisingly quick. There were probably about 15 cars in line or so when we showed up, and within less than 10 minutes, they had our cases of chicken loaded into our trunk and we were off!
By the time we ran two quick errands and got home and settled in, it was about 9:15. My husband worked on cutting and trimming 80 lbs of chicken (yes, we did get two cases), which took him into the second half of TLC’s Extreme Couponing’s second season premier show before he finished up. We’re pretty particular about the fat and skin being gone, so we estimated that roughly 10 lbs of our eighty was trimmed off. Still, 70 lbs equals to about $1.70/lb, which is obviously much better than any grocery store! And now 70 lbs – marked with the date 9/28 on the outside – are stocked in our freezers, ready to go.
However, it’s a pretty big mess and a very slimy process. For us? Definitely worth it.
What about you? For those who picked up your chicken last night, did you find it was worth it? What were the pros and cons of purchasing through Zaycon? At one point last night we got a good laugh when my husband wondered out-loud how many kindred spirits he had across the Tampa Bay area who were cutting chicken with him. Care to share your story? Supposedly they’re lining up a beef and/or bacon drop off for their next stop on the east coast.

Zaycon Foods currently has countless Savings Events located across the country. The events sell different products but many are selling 40 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.49/lb which is an amazing price! If you have already paid for your order at the previous price of $1.69/lb, you will receive a credit of $8.00 to your Zaycon Foods account. This credit can be used toward any future purchase. Your account will reflect this credit no later than Saturday, Sept. 24th 2011. For any reason, at any time you can also request a cash refund.
If you are interested in purchasing chicken for the Savings Event near you, make sure you sign up to be on Zaycon Foods email list and look to see if there is an event scheduled near you. Savings events sell out so sign up before it is too late. (If you live in Florida, you need to reserve your chicken by this Monday, September 26th.)

The email gave a link to a brief survey and in the survey, they asked if we would be interested in purchasing a 40 lb case of Boneless, Skinless, Chicken Breasts for $1.69/lb. What an awesome price on chicken! I know many of you have said that 40 lbs is a lot of chicken. Remember, that you will want to freeze much of your chicken so that you can live off of it for months to come. OR, if it seems like a lot to freeze, you can split the order with a friend or neighbor! I received an email from Zaycon Foods this morning letting me know they are now scheduling events in our area! I wrote about Zaycon Foods earlier this month – I wanted to make sure you get on their email list (if interested)! During their events, they will be delivering fresh, boneless, skinless chicken breasts to cities in 48 states this fall. They sell boneless, skinless chicken breasts at awesome prices well under $1.99/lb.
To register to get on the event notification list, go HERE and register at the top of the home page. Once you sign up, when Zaycon Foods has an event in your area, they will email you approximately 2 weeks prior to their event. What is the importance of Zaycon Foods’ events? At their events you can score 40 pounds of boneless, skinless, chicken breasts, lean ground beef, produce and more at excellent stockpile prices! If 40 pounds sounds like a lot, you can always split your purchase with friends or family! I was given 40 lbs of boneless, skinless, chicken breasts to review and it is amazing. So is anyone else frustrated about the lack of chicken sales lately? I remember when I first started couponing it seemed like Publix had boneless skinless chicken breasts on sale for $1.99/lb once every 6 weeks. Now it’s more like once every 3 or 4 months! Well thanks to Mike and JC at Zaycon Foods, I think I may have found a great alternative for you all!
Last week Mike (and his very polite and helpful son) delivered 40 lbs – yes, 40! – of boneless skinless chicken breasts to our door for us to do a product review on. Zaycon Foods delivers fresh meats and vegetables in massive quantities direct to the consumer, and we were lucky enough to get a sneak peak for the southwest region of the country! The chicken delivered to our door was only 3 days old, so it’s very fresh (never frozen). Zaycon makes bulk purchases from local farms in each area where they do an event, which is why it’s so fresh and affordable – usually around $1.50/lb!
How it works is this: they do big events all over the country where they literally bring cases of fresh meats or veggies by the truckload to an area where you live. Once they have enough interest in a certain area, they will email their customer base to let them know. All you have to do is go to their website HERE and register. Once registered, just wait for the email regarding their event, order your fresh meat or veggies online, and go pick it up by the case! You don’t even need to get out of your car, which is a plus in this hot summer Florida sun.
So the question is, is this service for you? Hopefully I can help answer that for you!
This first picture is what the case looks like when you pick it up. And yes, it’s heavy!
The chicken is sorted into 4 roughly 10 lb bags inside on larger bag which protects the juices from escaping through the box. Here’s a good look at it.
This is what one bag looks like on a cutting board. Here’s where I got a little skeeved out, I’m not going to lie. Although I’ve gotten better with raw meat, this was more of a husband-job, so I did some posting while he did some chicken-trimming.
Inside each 10 lb bag there are full double chicken breasts like you see below. One of the reasons Zaycon is able to get the meat so cheap is because, A) They buy in bulk, and B) The chicken breasts are not as nicely trimmed like they are at the grocery store. It took my husband about an hour to trim and cut all the chicken, and then another 15 minutes or so for the two of us to put them neatly into freezer bags (and create space in the freezer!). I know an hour may sound like a lot, but when I buy chicken in bulk at Publix (when it is on sale) I will trim the meat before I freeze it. (Or should I say, my husband will..) So, for us, trimming 40 lbs of meat in about an hour was not a big deal.

We like to cut ours into strips, so here’s the end result of just 20 lbs of chicken! Look at all that meat!
But now for the true test….how does the chicken actually taste? Below is a stuffed chicken breast of feta, fresh garlic, basil, green onion, mozzarella, prosciutto, and a little salt and pepper. Yum yum yum! And your eyes aren’t deceiving you – that is just ONE breast in the picture below (my husband did clean his plate). It smelled sooo good and was really tasty too. So was I impressed with the quality? Yes!
Zaycon Foods may not be everyone. There’s quite a bit of prep, you’ll have to make sure you’re around for an event, and you’ll need lots of freezer space. But the great news is, the chicken is fresh, tasty, and best of all, affordable! Mike mentioned the price does fluctuate, but I think we all can agree that anything under $2/lb is worth stocking up on!
Zaycon will probably be holding an event sometime soon in your area, so make sure you’re the first to know by registering on their site where it says REGISTER on the top of the home page. You’ll need to put your name, address, phone, and email, primarily so they can remind you of the event and if need be, call you if the event is closing and you still haven’t picked up your order. I know we have been very happy with this trial run with Zaycon. Mike personally guaranteed that if you’re unhappy in anyway, they promise to make it right. So happy saving all and I’ll be sure to post any more updates as they come along!
