It looks like Walmart is getting into the game this week too! As you know, this Wednesday is Prime Day on Amazon. Amazon is promising Prime Members that their sales will be better than Black Friday sales! Go HERE for more info on Prime Day! You can sign up to receive a free one month trial to Amazon Prime and thus be eligible for Wednesday’s deals!
Walmart’s website is now joining in and competing with Amazon promoting products that are priced lower than Amazon. Walmart released the message below on Twitter saying that we can enjoy low prices at Walmart every day without paying an admission fee (referencing Amazon Prime’s $99 membership fee). And, you can go HERE to see a huge list of products that is currently priced lower on Walmart than Amazon.
What are my thoughts on all of this? Well, I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that Amazon is using Prime Day to drive people to join Amazon Prime. I am a member of Amazon Prime and love the benefits of free 2 day shipping as well as free Prime TV & movies. While I do think that $99 is pricey, it breaks down to $8.25 and for us it is well worth it. (We cancelled cable because we strictly watch shows and movies from Amazon Prime and Netflix now.) If you want to join Amazon Prime to just “test it out” this week and then cancel it if you are not satisfied, you can most definitely do that.
I have no idea what the sales will be on Amazon and if they will, in fact, be better than Black Friday sales. I also do not know if and how Walmart will compete price wise with the deals that Amazon releases. But I’m planning on starting working at sun-up and if the deals are there, I will be posting them all day. I’m also going to watch both stores carefully. And I also have a Christmas list ready to go because I plan on taking advantage of some of the deals if they are actually better than Black Friday 😉
