Summer is here! While my son is too young to be in school, most of my friends have school-age children who have reached the end of the school year. What do you do with your kiddos during the long summer days? Do your children go to camp? Or do they stay home? 3) Take your family to the park or the beach and bring a picnic. Instead of buying food at a drive-thru or takeout from a restaurant, bring food from home in a cooler. You will save money on your food and have more control on the nutrition of the foods you eat!
4) Plan your meals ahead of time! If you are going to be out all day with your children, use your slow cooker in the morning so that when you get home, you have a hot, home cooked meal waiting for you. This will save you time at night AND will keep your house cooler since you won’t have to run your oven!
5) Have a staycation! Plan a time for your family to have a staycation at home. Turn off your electronics and spend quality time with your family playing games, grilling out, maybe even camping out (or camping “in” if you prefer to stay in the air conditioning)! Oh – and make sure you have cool ice cream as dessert!
