My name is Liza and I began my money-saving journey in the Spring of 2009 as a way to stretch a limited household income. I had lost my job and my hubby was self-employed. I just have to ask a question here….a few weeks ago I went to my local Winn Dixie and got the “Deal” and when I went to check out I was unable to use any of my coupons on the items that I got for free because per the cashier, I received the item for Free, I can not use any coupons for those items…..
Have you ever had this problem? I tried to ask her, then how do I use coupons on items that BOGO, and she couldn’t answer? Any suggestions on how to handle this next time?
Did you have them scan your reward card before the coupons? It usually helps to have them scan the coupons for the meal deal free items before giving them your reward card. You can give them all the coupons first, but if you’re using a $xx off of $xx coupon, then just give them the meal deal coupons first, then the card, then your $xx off of $xx & then the rest of your coupons. Hope that makes sense….
Jen….I have a Winn Dixie that is close to my home and I have a Winn Dixie that is close to my son’s school. The Winn Dixie by my home will not take coupons for the free items, however, the Winn Dixie by my son school does take coupons for the free items whenever I buy my weekly “Deals”. I have mentioned this fact to the Winn Dixie by my home and they say it is Manager discretion. Needless to say which Winn Dixie do you think I shop at? Hope this helps.
Liza – Isn’t the McCormick’s cpn for a specific type and not just any type?
Don’t forget the $1.00/3 pizza coupons that were on the pizza roll boxes. They will make a nice savings.
